I'm 77 and this takes me back to a when I was a young Mrs and had a short affair with a young married Mr. We parted and stayed with our partners. We both later got divorced and re-married other people. I got divorced yet again and my young Mr died of lung cancer at the age of 40.... It brings back Special Memories for me from many years ago.
I’m a 17 year old teenage boy, listens to rap, pop all that stuff. But my grandma introduced me to this type of music. She listens to it every morning. Got good memories of waking up in the morning while she was cooking breakfast for me, hearing these type of songs from my bedroom and while eating breakfast. So sad they don’t make music like this anymore these days! But really thankful though that I’m one of the lucky ones from my generation that gets to enjoy this type of music, just because of my dear grandma ❤️

@@andyeulu828 this isn’t jazz though this is R&B Soul and technically he’s saying due to all the equipment and digital beats being produced and voices being alter in todays music could never compare to this which was recorded live in the studio with each instrument being played by the band and him singing in Unison as a group it shows the talent that it took to put this whole masterpiece together back in the day and honestly I agree it doesn’t compare this music is so much better than todays r&b. Todays r&b is good but this is great
@@picassopyllz8266 You act like live instruments on a recording are a thing of the past lol. There are plenty of artists that do live vocals and instruments that are just as good. Is it as prevalent? No. But there is still great arrangements out there. You just have to actively look.
Each one has its strenghts and it's okay. No need to compare since it's up to each person's personal taste.

Me and Mrs. Jones
We got a thing goin' on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now
We meet every day at the same café
Six-thirty and no one knows she'll be there
Holding hands, making all kinds of plans
While the jukebox plays our favorite songs
Me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We got a thing goin' on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now
We gotta be extra careful
That we don't build our hopes up too high
'Cause she's got her own obligations
And so, and so do I
Me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We got a thing goin' on
We both know that it's wrong
But it's much too strong
To let it go now
Well, it's time for us to be leaving
It hurts so much, it hurts so much inside
Now she'll go her way and I'll go mine
Tomorrow we'll meet
The same place, the same time
Me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We got a thing goin' on (thing)
We gotta be extra careful (goin' on)
We can't afford to build our hopes up too high
I wanna meet (thing) and talk with you
At the same place (goin' on), the same café, the same time
And we gonna hold hands like we used to
We gonna talk it over, talk it over
(Thing) we know, they know (goin' on), and you know
And I know that it was wrong
But our thing is strong, we gotta let 'em know now
That we got a thing going on, a thing going on
Thanks for the lyrics 😊

Why does everyone remember classic rock, but this whole genre of music seems to be forgotten? This is more "classic" than any style of rock. Bring back soul music!!! Who's here in 2024?
New funk and soul are out there. You just didn't grow up with the new names. Cory Wong; Vulfpeck; and others. The vocals are not always there and will NEVER be this smooth. I met someone 40 years my junior and she was a funk fan too. She is turning me on to a variety of new stuff. Some of it is powerful and some of it is ~Meh~. Just like all of the genres.
Seek the funk and ye shall find it.
they are children of the same grandfathers/mothers imo. This music deserves much adoration but most are too busy listening to even say it. This music is wonderful to me and so is rock simply cos they are unwitheld emotions. They both handle it so differently but thats why I love both so much.
Because the industry capitalised on promoting the violence in the black community through hip hop
Classic rock is white while Motown is black.
Remember, these were the sixties when the southern states still had systemic segregation because of a deep hatred towards everybody who's non-white.
Nowadays racism seems to be on the increase again with the blessing of a certain ex-president.
Music out today is very forgettable, songs like this are timeless and UNFORGETTABLE

I think some people miss the true meaning of this song. It's not about just having an affair..it's about the vunerability in all of us . Each and every one of us could at some time on our lives have fallen from grace. The tragedy of those events is beautifully displayed here. A love hopeful yet hopelessly on a path that will no doubt end in emotional devistation...the beauty of being a weak human...not often someone can put those feelings in a song and make us feel it.
This song has been my soudtrack in an affair that last four years with a married woman ten years older than me. It went just as you described. You don t know what love is untill you live a love that high. It has been my last story. It was 2002.
You hit it right on the head my man..
True the other parter will be devastated . But you cant stop . And you love them . But its that attraction .with the other .

My childhood was blessed with incredible music!
Soooo many young people with the freedom to express themselves created more magic than ever before. . . . or probably ever will again . Those who were there and understand when , where and how will fade away .
You can cover the music , adapt it to the times , but creating it is another thing entirely . Good luck to the future generations , I wish for you what I've had .
Indeed! I count myself as tremendously lucky to have grown up in the early 60s to mid 70s. The music was pure magic.
Oh, the slow dancing in my head. What a smooth voice this man has.
This is a fantastic song. The story of a man having a secret rendezvous with his lover. Billy Paul certainly puts his heart and soul into this song. It is funny how when I hear certain songs, they transport me back to a certain era. I know this song was released in 1973, but it actually makes me think of so much more from that time. A great song, that is a brilliant classic from that jukebox era.
Sad too really. She's cheating and they both know it. I REALLY feel sorry for Mr Jones. (If it's not working, walk away). :-(
@@Corky341 but at that time in my life, she was lovely. Young and dumb, but quite passionate.
It was my favorite song in 73 but oh so many good r n b songs back then!

I’m 20 and have been listening to music like this since I was 10 thanks to my mom 🫶🏾
Your mum has a great taste in music. 🎶🎵
First heard this song in 1981 as a 12 year old going on a school trip. The bus driver was taken to another world as he belted out the song. 🗣🗣I fell in love with the song ever since. 🎵🎷 Meeeeee and Mrs, Mrs. Jones🎷🎵
It's so pure, beautiful and relatable. Evoke the same emotion all the time. Timeless.
RIP Billy Paul. 💖❤❤
I also work in the medical field as a CNA at an assisted living center and yes our elders love their oldies and it's a wonderful thing to watch music fill the soul

Simply put, it's one of the greatest songs of all time. It cannot be improved upon because it's perfect in every, single, way. In one word: "Classic."
