I agree. I remember I saw Phantom in London and some guy in the audience was singing along near me...I kept glaring at him to death. Didn't help he was off key, too. Thankfully someone else finally shushed him and he stopped.
Yeah true, I saw Chicago and although I love the show so much I agree it’s so rude to sing along even tho you may love the song you just watch and enjoy the plot, the singing and everything else
I wonder what the 1975 original choreo was like. I've seen pictures from the 1975 versions when it was a fully fledged musical with costumes and sets and all that jazz. I would love to see it
everyone is so annoying "this is so bad" "where's the dancing" "there's no props or anything" "why do I see people in the back" THIS IS THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE IT OR NOT! THIS IS THE BROADWAY VERSION AND HOW ITS BEEN SINCE THE REVIVAL OPENED BACK IN 1996!!!
I agree 1. THEY ARE AWFUL 2. There are no red ribbons as blood 3. WHAT ARE THEY WEARING 4. THERE ARE NO GUY DANCERS 5. THE RED HEAD DID NOT PLAY A GOOD CHARACTER 6. I WAS WEARING HEADPHONES AND IMMEDIATELY A LADY SCREAMED POP Edit: 7. I can see the band 8. The lady is a grandma who sings cesiro
@@lucaslayton3974 The movie is based off the musical... BUT. They aren't awful. They're wearing the costumes the costume designer idealized for this production. There IS guy dancers. Just not in this number. The "red head" obviously did play a good character, or she wouldn't have been cast.
As a huge fan of Chicago, this revival was great in terms of bringing attention and interest back to Chicago (and Bob Fosse), and this revival’s success led to the movie being made. That said I wish that Broadway would remount a new production of this show that is closer to the original 1975 Broadway staging with full sets and costumes and full Bob Fosse choreography. However, the reason why this revival has become the longest running American musical in Broadway history is partly because this concert staging is so cheap to run and the scaled down choreography allows for a lot of stunt casting of less qualified celebrities to take on the role of Roxie.
Gorgeous work ladies! Way to do justice to a classic number with minimal/next to 0 props. Beautiful vocals, you all brought so much personality I loved watching you all!
Cell block tango is my favorite song from Chicago Everytime anyone gave me a hard time or my brother harass me I pretend to be a prisoner and sing the cell block tango.
the little girl saying the words is so annoying and rude. if you know it don't say anything (lipsync if you must) it disturbs others and ruins the surprise when you say it before the performers
James Kowal Agreed. People who do not or cannot go to these productions in person are really missing the actual effect the staging has in person. It’s hard to describe and it’s one of things where once you experience it, you realize video distorts and/or fails to capture the real essence of the production..
No it's super illegal, if you get caught the ushers either yell at you to put it away and shine a light in your face or they can force you to leave the theater.
I very like the actor have real singing&dialogue to personally themselves in"Chicago cell block tango". NOT like something fake show just play movie ost & dancing cover, that AWFUL.
this is based off the original Broadway show, the movie had a different choreographer and feel. This was choreographed by Fosse. His whole brand is based on simplicity.
A. Christine G. This is more scaled down Fosse. The original 1975 Fosse choreography was a lot more energetic and demanding. Rob Marshall who directed the film utilized a lot of elements from the original 1975 staging.
They are very different takes, its like comparing apples and oranges. One goes for humor, the other goes for realism and drama. But you have to respect this was the original, the movie was an adaptation. Movie adaptations have a lot more room for sets, cinematography, cast, and general production value. A stage is different from a film set.
Kookie Monster Movie actresses only did better job because they could've done multipe takes, on broadway/theater you can't mess up and do it again. But the movie one was okay i guess
Ugh those people in the audience saying those lines were so annoying
but they didn't synch the Hungarian lines....
I would've shut them up so good if I was there.
Agreed, wish someone would fire two warning shots...into their heads see what I did there?😉
man the woman speaking in the back saying the lines is so annoying and rude to the other people in the audiance
I agree. I remember I saw Phantom in London and some guy in the audience was singing along near me...I kept glaring at him to death. Didn't help he was off key, too. Thankfully someone else finally shushed him and he stopped.
I have a bad tendency to lip sing at musicals....I feel bad if noise comes out. But thats just rude to flat out sing.
If I were there, I would've backhanded that byotch straight to Brooklyn.
Agreed! Okay, I admit, I whispered a few lines from Hamilton WHILE THEY WERE SINGING, but I said it quietly and I don’t think anyone minded.

The movie was marvelous. It made people have higher expectations from the live versions.

this is amazing, but the end looks like really aggressive musical chairs and i can't get over how funny it is.
Unfortunately many Broadway shows don't film well, even if done professionally. You need to see them live in person.

James Kowal even seeing bootlegs or even professional recording it’s nothing like seeing the real shows
Cell block tango without two people doing the tango is just a crime.
This is how the number was originally choreographed and written. The tango is the music.
Amra is fabulous.
it’s the girl reciting the lyrics for me
Wonderful work ladies
Thanks for posting~~~~!!
Whats the name of the girl that had the artistic partner?? Shed make a perfect harley Quinn

No it's super illegal, if you get caught the ushers either yell at you to put it away and shine a light in your face or they can force you to leave the theater.
You can't take them at all, but if you want to risk it...
I think Chicago needs a Major upgrade
I very like the actor have real singing&dialogue to personally themselves in"Chicago cell block tango".

4:42-6:14 bisexual joke lol!😀😆🤣
The only one I can't justify is the popping gum one. Lol. The chick literally killed a guy because he pops gum. The rest of them have some validity.
no way you said any of these people have validity besides hunyak 💀
I don’t like this version, why do I see people in the back, there’s no coregraphy, they don’t keep saying “pop six squish...”

@@SDoesNotKnow Although it was a little more movement, it still was quite simplistic, this casting did a great job.
the movie actresses did a better job
