- The long-running Broadway revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Bob Fosse's CHICAGO turned 25 on November 14. To celebrate, here's a look back at the original cast of the show, with Bebe Neuwirth performing "All That Jazz," James Naughton singing "All I Care About," Naughton and Reinking performing "We Both Reached for the Gun," and Neuwirth and Reinking closing the show with "Nowadays."
Umm I was part of the cast and no we don’t lip sync and our mics are in the wigs with either the mic over ear or forehead. Not sure where you made the assumption we lip sync on broadway. Please be informed. The original cast was exquisite and I had the honor of being a replacement when an original left. Working with that cast was the most incredible experience. Up to date, 10 original cast members have passed away including understudies and our hair/wig person. Nothing compares to the earlier casts. Bebe and Annie were extraordinarily generous to me.
I can't stop watching this. There's so much class about Bebe and the cast, it's mesmerising from the opening shot. Must have been extraordinary to be a part of this.
I saw this revival and feel so fortunate. Great job. Iconic show.
I was in the audience for Bebe's last show! I was only twelve at the time (& now I'm ancient), but I remember it like it was yesterday. The whole cast was phenomenal! Growing up in NYC, my family always took me to see everything on Broadway, but Chicago was (& remains to this day) my absolute favorite. It's so cool that you got to be a part of the cast!
There is no lip syncing on broadway…. And clearly any idiot saying otherwise has never actually *seen* a broadway show..
Like the people who post about seeing “broadway” shows in Florida 😳🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🧘🏻♀️
I can't believe some of the absolute duds they have cast in Chicago when the bar was originally set so high by these two.
She's amazingly talented and so kind to fans. I met her briefly in NYC and at a benefit in LA. Sweet person.
Bebe and Chicago, truly a Jazz Ballet!
I’ve been crazy about Bebe for years. I had seen her in DAMN YANKEES in the 1994 revival. While she was great is Lola she was in a short haired blonde wig, and I had wanted the FULL Bebe experience. (I WAS thrilled to get to see Victor Garber also).
In 1996 my REAL dream came true. Bebe as Velma Kelly! I was in heaven. She was perfect, and when she came up from the back, only a silhouette against the lights behind, I wanted to squeal! I savored every moment.
ALL THAT JAZZ, every move Fosse developed, will play in my brain forever.
I was in NYC on a holiday in 1996 and I had tickets for a show, i think it was Fosse. While walking to theatre I saw her on the street and thought OMG its Frasiers wife. I honestly had no idea she was starring in Chicago! even though there were massive posters up in Time Sq lol
I actually loved the movie even though it was VERY sceptical about Catherine Zeta Joned and Renne Zellweger. They did a really good job. However, I saw the production in 1997 with Bebe and Anne and nothing will ever match that.
Lilith, who would have thought…
Uhhhhhh.... she was starring on A Chorus Line and Sweet Charity on Broadway before Cheers.
I'd love to see this entire thing!
Love this! Even the vhs static...and all that jazz. Its nostalgic! ❤
Saw Chicago in 1996 with original cast. What a joy and treat! One of my all time favorite musicals.
I saw the final performance of Ann Reinking -- much horsing around ensued.
I don’t think 96 was the original cast. Chicago’s way older.
If I had the money back then I would have get a ticket to see Bebe neworth in fosse. There see was extremely cute and very attractive. The most sexy character in that show.
I saw this show on Broadway and I'll never forget how after the scene she's trying to convince Roxy, Roxy says, can I see that again? And Bebe looks at the audience and says, Gimme a minute- I had a matinee, and she did it again and the audience lost their minds! 😂😂😂
I can only imagine how physically demanding this was to put on night after night. cheers to the cast, and RIP to Ann! She was one of a kind!
I was there in 96. Very cool
Amazing
Fosse was a one off. My hero just a very original choreographer. Vernon was excellent too but he had a special magic for dance.
God, Naughton’s voice is amazing
Um musical desses fica no mínimo dez anos na broodway
He still the best billy
Bebe Neuwirth is incredibly hot and reminds me of Liza Minnelli in Caberet. 😊

LOOK AT BILLY FLYNN'S EAR! There is an earpiece!
티파니가 나를 여기까지 이끌었다...
I want everyone to notice no one is wearing a mic.
We are wearing mics! Blended into hair on forehead or over ear!!!
@@lillielonski6798 Did you know Jono Mainelli, the pianist?
There are hundreds of old school tricks that can easily be being used. I'm an amateur at mics and can tell you that even Billy Flynn's coat could perfectly conceal his mic. Also remember that this is a dance show. Mics need to be worn somewhere incredibly secured that will not be making contact with much of anything (making hair, which is incredibly secured during shows, a spectacular option)
The mics are in their wigs or collars
But watch the lighting closely. This is composited. Which is why poster isn't paying royalties. Curse me for watching such pablum.
This looks very boring. Nope, I love Chicago, but not this.
So they lipsync
No they do not. Hidden mics.
