I completely disagree with the lag putting comment. I have the max and it’s an all around beast. My lag putting is 100% better since I got it. I just take the putter back more and putt through the same as I would for a shorter putt. Just let the putter do the work for you and don’t try and force it.

I have to say, I disagree with both statements at the end.
I LOVE lag putting with this putter. It rolls it so pure and online, that I’m rolling it closer and more consistently to the hole from far.
And for the shaft, I have the stock black steel shaft and it feels super solid, and I think if we hadn’t had graphite and multi material putter shafts as an options these days, we would still be quite impressed by a center strike with a basic steel putter shaft.
I’m a 2 index, play a Lab mezz.1 stock, absolutely love putting with it.
    Get me on the green!
    Loved your video, too!

I just upgraded to the LAB Mezz1 putter! It rolls the ball better than my EvnRoll ER2 putter, which I exchanged over my Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5S putter. Just use an OPEN stance to chip putt for lag putting!

I have a recently acquired Mezz 1 Max, and I agree with your comments. I feel like on any putt 15 feet and in, if I read the green correctly, I can make the putt, but I have been struggling with lag putting because it feels so light. Now that I have perhaps 10-15 rounds in with it, I'm getting better at it. In fairness, I was always a bad putter, so I'm not the best data point.

I added weight to the head and that was the fix for lag putting. I use lead tape instead of sending it back. Added it to each side on the bottom, evenly on both sides. Now it's perfect!

I would love the opportunity to try and game that putter. I currently play Scotty Cameron 2.6 center shafted putter, as my stroke is very flat. If you need a new home for your Mezz, let me know!!! Love the video, and the honesty. Premium putter prices are extremely outlandish. No way the average golfer can afford a $1k putter!!! I wonder if carrying 2 putters will become a trend, just because of lag v scoring?!?

Not at all a problem for me for lag putting. My average is 29.2 , so I guess the putter is not the problem. Try looking at the hole the whole time and put from far away or from closer if you have problems with lag. It will solve it maybe.

Hi, I’m using a Mezz 1 for about a year now with the steel shaft. Have not had as much issue as you note with lag putting but do have some issues with distance control on longer putts say > 40 feet.
I think LAB can modify your putter to heavy weight for a modest enough fee. Would make a great follow-up review if you were to do that and re-assess the lag putting issue you’ve had after using for a few months again.

Spot on with the upgraded shaft - stock shaft is very rigid and gives the putter a real hard feel. I have the Accra shaft in my Mezz Max which I think is a $100 upgrade. It makes the putter feel so much softer.
