I've got a leak where the lines pass over the frame rail going forward from the ABS module. Lost all braking power while driving the other day, but got home using the parking brake when needed. This instructional video is exactly what I needed to tackle the job of replacing the brake lines. The video is IMHO a true master piece!!! It's pedagogic with attention to detail and unbelievably skillfully shot. I've been down there trying to locate the broken line and I know how cramped, rusty, dirty and (now) full of brake fluid it is. Thank's for this help!!! It's a real game changer for me... ;)
You beat me to it but glad you figured the problem nuts out. Just a little misalignment is all it takes to hang them up. As bad as those lines were I'm glad you didn't have a catastrophic failure on your tuning runs! Thanks for sharing!
GM used some real shit from factory on 99-06 trucks I've had to do this exact job in a a parking lot in the middle of a snow storm to get the plow truck going multiple times I only use nickaloy lines now when I have to replace them
omg i still haven't finished doing my brake lines....I HATE THIS JOB. I never pay anyone to do anything to my carsbut I would have paid someone to do this...
How to do brake lines 1st step: You start to cry because your foot goes to the floor and there is a puddle on the ground 2nd: The brake fluid on the ground replaces your tears 3rd: You become one with the brake fluid 4th: You get your brake lines done
I have an 04 yukon xl denali. Got a small pin hole in a line near the rear axle. I need to just replace a small section of line. Do I bleed them normally afterwards? Someone told me it has to be hooked up to a computer to bleed them due to the ABS module? That sound right to you?
I have to replace rear brake lines on my 04 yukon denali exact set up can I just use the copper brake line to replace the old steel lines and route the lines the way I want to
@@BlaserBuilds So I watched this video when I was replacing my brakes and master cylinder, but not the brake lines. Yeah, guess what I'm doing now haha
Excellent work. Glad you didn’t go with the tap. Already a couple comments about the lining it up. I have never used copper for brake line, probs fine. Did you have to flare any ends? and did you double flare? Yo let’s get some draggy results!!
Not drive them in winter or get a dedicated winter beater. But you can get undercoating were they just oil the shit out of the underside, but that only goes so far. It's really not the snow that's bad, it's the salt they put down. Some of it is like a liquid that will eat metal in a few years.
Under oiling is the only way. Don't use the gummy silicone junk. Use actual oil spray and keep doing it every year. If you do it when you buy a new vehicle then you won't get rust issues. People just don't do it which is maddening since the work and effort to fix stuff is exponentially increased. Wash you car often in the winter, don't need to scrub/powerwash all the time but make sure you wash out the crevices so the salt brine garbage they throw down doesn't leech far into the body work and undercarriage. And spray wax it often. Avoid major roadways if possible, they use much more/stronger brine for those roadways.

Great video! I watched quite a few others, but your is very clear! Thank you.
After seeing the underside of the Cadillac I'm glad I live in Florida and don't have to deal with the winter or the rust. great video
my Cadillac is sooo badly rusted that my mechanic told me for him to fix my brake line it'll be about 800$ because my frame is so bad 😞
I used Dorman 919-154 stainless. It is $108 AutoZone, $105 + shipping on eBay.
Everything is feet, no bending involve, no couplings.
Glad to see you putting out videos again

Great video!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video gonna do this on my MN 04 escalade this summer not looking forward to it lol
The lines turned out great. Getting the ends to line up square to the connector can be a pain at times.
It's criminal that they're not OEM stainless🤬
Honestly when it comes to brakes, it should be mandatory stainless steel on every vehicle.

Yeah man, it sucked, lol.
that just means you saved A LOT of money because they don't want to do it either
@@kittydaddy2023 yeah and saved a lot in gas too driving my other vehicles.
Excellent help! Thanks a million.
Great video. This job is such a colossal pain in the ass.
Is the brake line routing the same for 2007 model year?
I just bought an 04 escalate ext and today after a 3 point turn my breaks and power steering just refused to work on me

Did you drain the brake fluid before beginning? Or was almost all of the fluid gone at this point?

Yeah I flared 4 ends, double flare.
@@BlaserBuilds excellent work
Nice work!
If you had to charge for this type of brake job what would be an estimate?
$1000 is what a shop just quoted me
Is their anything you guys up north can do to stop the vehicles from rusting so much?

Added safety means you can go faster! LOL.
BRO I HADE THE SAME EXACT PROBLOM WITH MY ABS BLOCK I SCREWED THE LINE IN ON A ANGEL I RELLY HOPE I DID NOT STRIP IT OUT
👍👍
7:52 brake line trick! Behind crossmember....so annoying.
brakes only slow you down
