In this video, I will show you how you can get a lot of different tones out of a telecaster and a Fender Blues Deluxe RI amp, by only working the control knobs on your guitar.

Dankjewel!
The simplicity is what i love about my Telecaster. My Les Paul Jr as well.
I didn't get the tele for a long time. I just thought it was an ugly old guitar. It wasn't until I did a blind taste test on David Paul's channel that I realized I loved the tone. Then I learned a lot of early Zep was tele too. Now I'm a tele fanatic and find it beautiful. I don't play anything else.
I've played many gigs with just a Telecaster, a cable, and a Fender BDR. I wired my Tele so the tone control only works with the bridge pickup, and I also fitted a treble bleed circuit. Adjust the BDR overdrive channel to distort when the guitar's volume control is fully open, with it cleaning up as the volume's turned down. Adjust volume, tone and pickup selection to suit, and that's it.
I agree that the Tele is an efficient workhorse with loads of voices but I must say that the valve amp makes a lot of difference too.
Valve amps are still king!
Albert Collins. Roy Buchanan...Danny Gatton. Tab Benoit. Clarence White. Joe Strummer. Julian Lage on and on
Never trade a fender! Just by another one !😊
I'm the same ... Tele's all the way !! By the way, Jimmy Pages' Telecaster sound sold a lot of Les Pauls in the 70's !!!!
Nice tutorial on the tones of the Telecaster! Thank you!
Great class, in how to get the most out of a guitar, instead of getting lost in all the technology. Thank you so much.
I really enjoyed watching your presentation! Thank you for the effort!!!
Love my tele, its the go to for c&w and old rock.
That Tele is very pretty!
Good practical advice!
Thnx!
Great video! I do have a Fender MIM Stratocaster that I’ve been learning to play the guitar on, but I just recently purchased a Tele style guitar (Donner). It seems to be well built and when you don’t have a lot of money then, oh well. I’ve always heard that the Tele was a workhorse of a guitar and you can get all kinds of sounds from it, and I do like classic rock and blues so I thought I get one and so far I like it a lot!! Again Great video and I’m a new subscriber. 🎸
Great to read! Thank, any wishes for other videos?
Awesome!
Thank you, very useful video
Yes those you mentioned on stratocaster I would add Jeff Beck and Robin Trower with stratocaster 🎸. I agree with your advice
I have an 🇺🇸 strat 🎸 and was looking for a Mex black telecaster for modification and I asked the guy at the store if he had an 🇺🇸 professional 2 telecaster..he came back with a Miami Blue which caught my eye, then I held the 🎸 and I knew that this was my 🎸👍‼️
Jeff is also great, but was never a go to for me somehow…. Nice to read! Thnx for sharing!
@@FerryKnijnFotografie when I was younger I didn't like Jeff Beck because he didn't have vocals but when I started playing 🎸, I realized that he had vocals, his hands and his strat 🎸🎵🎶
I have a blonde G&l tele
Thank you
The best
I actually started with a telecaster because of Keith Richards. Then, because of Jimi, I traded it for a strat. Big mistake.
Why was it a mistake?
@@FRANKSNAKE71if I had to use deductive reasoning, he probably preferred his telecaster.
I think Jimi sounds good on both. I prefer Tele but it never hurts to have a Strat kicking around.
@@wallybonejengles5595 having both is always the answer and I say this as a Tele guy.
Great video, thank you. I have the same MIM Tele but in sunburst. I really love your blue edition. Sounds great. Nice playing.
I have to keep it simple. I easily get overwhelmed with all the fx and pedal choices. Angus Young has it down!
Totally agree, me too!
Still the most versatile guitar...
Question...I have also changed my Pickups on my Tele with the 51 Nocaster. What is your preferred height settings of the bridge and neck pickup?
I went for Tele because my sister had a Strat, and I just like being contrarian. Haven’t looked back.
lots of good tele knock offs and partscasters out there too if you wanna just dabble without going the full monty and getting a Fender USA one. Ive got a Firefly that I really like and my Squier classic vibes 60s custom comes tmrw. I'm on the bandwagon indeed! Been bidding on some USA made ones on Ebay but they go like hotcakes!
Well I wouldnt be ashamed for playing a squier eather….
Telecaster Named because of the beginning Television age
Stratocaster Named because of the beginning Jet age (flying in the Stratosphere)
Booth in the early 1950ies
Thanx for the nice trivia, will use it with the strat video!
Great review! I just got my tele and I absolutely love it.
Have much fun playing!
the only guitar i've plugged into the console (neck pickup) and i had almost nothing to do to tweak it
Is it reverse wired so back is Neck pickup ?
Hi NTCK. What effects configuration you recomend, or what's yor amp equalization, to me, that would be an interesting vídeo, because everybody only talk about the guitar, but not the sound's adjust, thank you, and I'm sorry for my bad english.
Hi, well that all depends on what you want to play… i prefer just guitar in amp and have the eq pretty flat, depending on the room… but can make some videos about pedals and fx later!
@@NotThatCoolKid That would be nice, because there are someone like me, who want to play a tele, but doesn't know how to get the better sound.
It may be my ears, but I have issues with bridge pickups being too bright and neck pickups being too dark....and it doesnt matter what guitar...strat , p-90 les paul, SG, and definitely Tele....trying to love them all. my mexican tele with new pickups definitely sounds good
You can either bypass the tone knob on the neck pickup or use a no load tone pot... basically it makes the neck pickup brighter. I've done this to my tele and the pickups are much more balanced and I just use a more tame treble setting on my amp in general for both pickups.
Middle position e really a mid range heaven.
👍😁
I own this exact guitar but I'm actually transitioning to a Stratocaster since they inspire my creativity so much more
You forgot to rip out the treble bleed chip that makes every set of pickups sound like they use neodymium magnets.
It has a grease bucket circuit now
@@NotThatCoolKid I can hear it and I’m not sure why people think it’s musical. My sons new American Pro bass has it and we played it against a 72 a few weeks ago. The treble bleed / greasebucket ( variations of the same thing ) made the bass sound like it had active electronics. Same with my new tele, even after putting in custom shop NoCaster pickups every note sounded like a hammer on an aluminum bench. Take that chip out and these guitars sound like a million bucks.
@@quintonmcdannald2327 the mod was done after recording this video
@@NotThatCoolKid well at least you won’t loose any highs as you roll down the volume. You can hear that metallic plunking at any volume level.
Or any telecaster for that matter?
jeps
neck pickup, my guy
To my personal taste, all examples sound thin and scratchy - even the neck pickup clean and alone. Maybe due to the recording. A tele can deliver far more substance, similar to a good Les Paul.
Do WHAT TO MY TELECASTER???!!
You had to mention Springsteen, kinda ruined my afternoon.
Sorry mate! Need a hug now?
How many here have that exact same Telecaster?
Guilty! I'm more than happy with the stock pickups into my Vox AC15. The tele and the ac series are a marriage made in heaven.
I wish I was a Tele guy , but I'm not . They all sound shit to me . ☹️
Got the same with gibsons…
i have alwsys sounded better on a tele
I get all these tones out of my 59 ....and i hate them when im playing, just as much listening right now.
I guess im just not a Tele guy.
I have got the same thing but then with les pauls. Dont like the sound or feel when playingen them. Guess personal tast is different for everybody!
