Because I place it there. All partners have full control over ad-types, and placement. I put ads before the video, at 7:51, and at the end of the video. The only requirement is that the video has to be 10+ minutes long for a post-role, and 14+ minutes long for a mid-roll.
Yeah, this was maybe my 4th or 5th midnight screening -- they're always way more fun because the audience applauds, and gets really into it. Honestly, had I watched The Avengers alone in my living room like the last four Marvel movies, I mayn't have been as swooned by the entire thing, haha. The theater experience definitely helps a movie shine a little brighter.
As I've very clearly explained in the past: books should never be required reading to understand, or appreciate a film. It is a separate medium, it needs to stand on it's own.
While I'm not annoyed about that assumption as you are, yes, I complete agree. I use caps all the time for emphasis. My point was: Given the context, I don't think the OP was.
I'd love to know what you're referring to specifically... because I didn't mention anything that wasn't in the trailer, for example. And you knew you'd at least see that much... so if you're easily spoiled, maybe watching wasn't a good idea?
Well, if RUclips operates correctly, and you have your ad-blocker whitelisted for RUclips (not a bad idea, if you care to support me and my fellow Partners), an actual ad show play right there. But RUclips only serves up so many to each user per hour, so if you already watched a few :30-second ads recently, you mayn't get one there. But refresh the page a couple times, and you'll eventually see a yellow-indicator on the progress bar, and you can see how it's *supposed* to work.
He was unquestionably the crowd favorite... lots of fun to watch, and a much better approach to "the other guy" than Ed Norton's movie had. I'm looking forward to Ruffalo's own Hulk 2 in a couple years.
No, it's the 3rd or 4th double-10. To be fair though, 20 of the 25 films I've scored a "10" on this show were included outside of audience ratings (it was just mine). They are all spoiler-free, but I wanted to make that clear to anyone new.
It's not really a question of what you "thought"... amount of fighting contained within a film is empirical... quantifiable. And it was not substantial in the least.
It's definitely not an Oscar contender... but that doesn't mean it can't be in the top 10-percentile... I thought it had enough depth to service the story, and the action... the latter of which was some of the best I've ever seen in any action movie. As far as action blockbusters go... this one is top-notch.
I love the original trilogy... so with the bar set awfully high, my expectations are low. Reboots have a history of being pretty awesome though, so we'll wait and see. I'm excited for it, for sure.
Edit what out? The commercial isn't part of the video... As for the break itself... I placed that there on purpose, again, because I need to earn a living.
Yeah, I heard the hype, but my expectations were low... especially considering (if you followed my ratings) each of the Marvel films had gotten worse than the one preceding it. I'm not sure how each of the individual films are only average to great... but this massive ensemble picture managed to upstage everything that came before it.
No, it doesn't have to have action... but a good film does require actual conflict, drama, or consequence. Captain America was entertaining, but sadly lacked all of the aforementioned attributes, hence my rating... which again, is only slightly below average.
You seem to imply that I don't. 2,000+ comments a day. I don't reply to all of them. For every "hater" I reply to, there are 20 others I simply delete, ignore, or block.
The great thing about film reviews (at least, when they're as well supported and articulated like mine are) is that they CAN'T be wrong. The love story sucked... it was an after-thought, I don't even remember the chick's name, or what she did in that movie. I paid attention just fine -- but all of the characters from CA are dead -- and as such a "proper sequel", as I mentioned, is now impossible. It'll be a different altogether. If Thor/Loki can die... why haven't they even come close?
Thanks for watching!
Thank you kindly.
Glad to hear the system works :)
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for submitting!
Thank you kindly, I appreciate it.
Awesome! Thanks.
What was spoiled, exactly?
I downloaded them.
Awesome! Well thanks for submitting one, I appreciate it.

To air a commercial... it's how I make my living, you know.
Answers can be found on the Wikipedia entry for the film.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
Yes.
What do you think we've been doing these past few weeks?
Why don't you usually watch?
I have yes.
You're welcome! Thanks for leaving a review! Featured 21 this week :)
In the edit-videos page... There are check-boxes.
That'll be fun! I'm really excited for Iron Man 3 now :)
Yes, two separate scenes.
Haven't seen it yet! Hope to watch it/Serenity this summer though.
No, there is an actual ad there.
As I've very clearly explained in the past: books should never be required reading to understand, or appreciate a film. It is a separate medium, it needs to stand on it's own.
I hear what you're saying, but as a sequel, all of the origin/backstory had already been developed, which is why it worked. I didn't miss any, myself.
While I'm not annoyed about that assumption as you are, yes, I complete agree. I use caps all the time for emphasis. My point was: Given the context, I don't think the OP was.

Every week since November!
Yes... was I wrong?
No, it's there. Just doesn't always show up, depending on a number of factors.
That's correct.
To be clear: You're suggesting I do more 3-part episodes of a particular theme?
When they're this long, yes.
How did you manage to miss the giant annotation?
Awesome!
Dude... I should just give you a permanent spot on this program, haha!
(I'm using your review again this week)

Already fixed with an annotation... not sure how it got moved after I proof-watched though... :(
No, I agree - he was great. But I really liked Ed Norton as well.
To each his own. I watched TDK four times the first year it was out, which is more than any other film for me. I love it to death.
I don't understand what you're getting... who/what are you referring to?
He was unquestionably the crowd favorite... lots of fun to watch, and a much better approach to "the other guy" than Ed Norton's movie had.
I'm looking forward to Ruffalo's own Hulk 2 in a couple years.
Yeah, I hear what you're saying, which is why I ultimately think The Dark Knight is still the strongest superhero film yet. Both 10's though.
You'll only be served an ad so many times per hour... so if you just watched a bunch of pre-rolls, it mayn't appear.
You're very welcome.
Then why did you answer the way you did?
No, it's the 3rd or 4th double-10. To be fair though, 20 of the 25 films I've scored a "10" on this show were included outside of audience ratings (it was just mine).
They are all spoiler-free, but I wanted to make that clear to anyone new.
It's not really a question of what you "thought"... amount of fighting contained within a film is empirical... quantifiable. And it was not substantial in the least.
Okay... what's your point? It came out a full month ago in some places, as I mentioned.
It's always said that. Because the footage came from "Studio X". Not their permission.
I did choose, please pay attention.
Sometimes, I still am. Anyone can show anything they want... you're asking the wrong questions.
I appreciate that, thank you. Equipment and money does not beget success: hard work and passion does.
Keep at it, and good luck.
Because it wasn't in any of the trailers available to me at the time of editing.
And why is that?
It's pretty amazing how Marvel connected all the post-credit scenes from each movie so flawlessly. I'm really stoked for Spiderman now!
I don't understand... I stating my opinion, the same as always. What did you have issue with exactly?
It's definitely not an Oscar contender... but that doesn't mean it can't be in the top 10-percentile... I thought it had enough depth to service the story, and the action... the latter of which was some of the best I've ever seen in any action movie. Did I stutter?
I completed it with an annotation... honestly not sure how that mistake even happened.
I love the original trilogy... so with the bar set awfully high, my expectations are low. Reboots have a history of being pretty awesome though, so we'll wait and see. I'm excited for it, for sure.
"I have an Army..." "We have a Hulk!!!" best line ever!
Edit what out? The commercial isn't part of the video... As for the break itself... I placed that there on purpose, again, because I need to earn a living.
Watch them all first.
What do you think we've been doing here for the past three weeks?
That may be... but Buffy is way more popular.
Haha, thanks.
For the record though, I still don't like spinach, especially after I found out that steak contains more iron anyway.
Well, don't get *too* hyped up, but, it's pretty awesome.
I reviewed ROTK before... my review sort of stands for all three.
There was a contract dispute... it wasn't a creative decision.
Return Of The King.
And it's okay that you didn't already know that -- but that's why I setup the Movie Night Archive, so you can very quickly check.
I love your videos keep up the great work
Well, Ruffalo had nothing to do with The Hulk... I was merely referring to his portrayal of Banner.
I gave six... so... yeah.
Yeah, I heard the hype, but my expectations were low... especially considering (if you followed my ratings) each of the Marvel films had gotten worse than the one preceding it.
I'm not sure how each of the individual films are only average to great... but this massive ensemble picture managed to upstage everything that came before it.
I got what you meant (and understood that you got it), but I was clarifying to the OP you were replying to.
@RJLupin6 Hehe
I was surprised myself... the Movie Night audience is a curious, and fickle beast.
Great stuff Jon, Movie Night is my favorite thing that you do. Keep up the fair and honest critiques, you definitely know your films.
The only post-converted 3D I'll pay for is James Cameron.
I'd see them all first if you can, they're worth it, and add a lot to The Avengers experience.
If you don't mind explaining -- why did you hate about it? It's ostensibly the same as always, albeit, more polished.
That qualifies as "almost" as good...
Skipped over it. I'd give it a 7.
In my culture, it does.
I never called Captain America awful... I enjoyed the film.
No, it doesn't have to have action... but a good film does require actual conflict, drama, or consequence. Captain America was entertaining, but sadly lacked all of the aforementioned attributes, hence my rating... which again, is only slightly below average.
Huh? It just came out... we don't know if it has beaten anything yet.
Great reviews. Really appreciate them all. Keep them coming.
You missed the annotation, huh?
That is what I said. Because it is. Being a writer doesn't count.
Then turn on annotations.
You seem to imply that I don't.
2,000+ comments a day. I don't reply to all of them. For every "hater" I reply to, there are 20 others I simply delete, ignore, or block.
Sorry to hear that. This video is one of my best though, so maybe your tastes simply changed.
Well luckily, I do.
No, I had an actual commercial break.
Um... he called me a huge idiot for no damn reason...
Are you paying attention?
I didn't think it was that bad either.
I thought I said "usurp", no? I talk fast... shit gets mangled together. Hopefully, you understood what I meant.
I don't think it's strange at all.
