    I got to say this video is much better than your the first" best movies of all time" video. Not because I liked the movies better, because you went more in depth when discussing the movies. You are definitely getting better as a movie host! Keep up the good work! And oh yea some good choices on your two lists!

    That's tough!

    3) Terminator 2 (95/100)

    Due to your typo/grammatical mistake, I'm not sure if you're referring to "these kids", or "this kid" -- meaning me. Which is it? Because, again: the list of films at the end (which placed Inception at #2) was the audience-voted list, not mine.

    I thought The Butterfly Effect was famously bad.

    • @Jogwheel
      @Jogwheel  10 лет назад +1

      You thought wrong, it's rather good, and generally well received. Has a 7.7 on IMDb.

    • @TheListenerCanon
      @TheListenerCanon 10 лет назад

      Jogwheel You're wrong! It's well received by audience, sure. But not so much with critics. It has 33% with 4.8 on Rotten Tomatoes. I haven't seen it in awhile, I remember enjoying it but it's no masterpiece that's for damn sure.

    • @Jogwheel
      @Jogwheel  10 лет назад +1

      F2FRONT500 ... well #1, who said it was a "masterpiece"? And #2... who said anything about critical opinions - I said it was "well received", and by a vast majority of people, it was.
      I'm not "wrong", you just don't know what you're talking about.

    • @TheListenerCanon
      @TheListenerCanon 10 лет назад

      Well received would imply mostly for critics not audiences. Besides, is every audience of that film a true film fan? I'm just saying use your words carefully because when I think of "well received" I mean actual acclaim not what audiences think.

    • @Jogwheel
      @Jogwheel  10 лет назад +3

      F2FRONT500 If I meant "critically acclaimed", I would have said "critically acclaimed". To me, "well received" is a general term that includes everyone.

    @GENERALSYKES - I don't understand your point...
    Dark Knight, Star Wars, Terminator, Avatar, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future and The Matrix *were* all on my list of "10" movies...
    So, your only issue is that I scored Toy Story 3 a "9" instead of a full "10"... that's it?

    @HoopsAndDinoMan - Yeh, this is true - but getting HD footage from this films to edit with is mostly always limited to the footage trailer itself - which because it is already very cut-up, is very hard to re-edit to match the VO. That being said, if I mention a specific scene, I usually try to move some stuff around to match - just not in this case, apparently.

    What I think about Avatar is just... way blown outta my head! All these new technology, language James Cameron has made for 10 years is unbelievable I am not disappointed in anything in this movie and it's a very creative innovation. It has to be a 10/10 for me.

    Great Show!!! I have a question there is this movie its kind of a thriller with a horror mix and its about a sacrifice circle that is performed with either 10 or 12 kids and on year one of the kids survives but he ends up drying a generation later instead of his own son or something like that do you by any chance know the title of the film??? thanks for the help! :D

    10) Unforgiven
    I'd have to throw honorable mentions to The Usual Suspects, Taxi Driver, American History X, Resevoir Dogs, and To Kill a Mockingbird.

    2) Purple Rose of Cairo - a deceptively simple, sentimental film with a profoundly disturbing philosophical premise and heartrending ending (think the philisophical depth of Donnie Darko w/o wearing it so heavily on its sleeve)
    3) Midnight Cowboy
    4) Little Murders
    5) Amelie (french film set in a post-apocalyptic france)
    6) Now Voyager
    7) The Merchant of Four Seasons (German director - Fassbinder)
    just a few here

  • @Jogwheel
    @Jogwheel  12 лет назад

    I never classified it as one of the "best of all time" though... (because it isn't).
    I merely said it was a personal favorite, having scored a 91 out of 100. Doesn't make the film perfect, or better than the other "masterpieces" listed here. But please, if you know of a *better* summer blockbuster, I'd love to hear it.

  • @Jogwheel
    @Jogwheel  12 лет назад

    Because "Best Movies" drives better traffic.
    The 10 movies I highlighted are just some of my personal favorites... I'd hardly consider Butterfly Effect, The Prestige, or Children Of Men "popular blockbusters".. meanwhile, IMDB lists "City Of God" in the top-20 of all time best-rated films. Yet here on Movie Night, I scored it a 6.
    I rarely exactly agree with popular opinion. I'm sorry you don't find the list interesting, but perhaps the 10-reviews before it were interesting?

  • @Jogwheel
    @Jogwheel  12 лет назад

    Please, pay attention better. The video is title "Best Movies Of All Time", because at the *END* of the video, that is what is revealed: an audience-polled list of the best movies.
    The 10 films preceding it, which I reviewed, are separate from this list, and merely personal favorites of mine (THIS WAS ALL CAREFULLY EXPLAINED). And yes, those movies you listed are great, and in some cases better than ID4 -- but that does not preclude ID4 from also grabbing a 10/10.
    Please pay attention.

  • @Hasbro246
    @Hasbro246 12 лет назад

    I dont know why so many people are complaining
    this is just his opinion backed up with reasonable points and great descriptions and criticism without giving away too much.
    sure i dont agree with all of them but with the points he gives, i'm convinced half of these movies are pretty damn good
    so if you dont agree then just watch other reviews.

  • @colonelquack

      But seriously - you need to watch A LOT more movies. "Independence Day", "The Godfather"? Come on... :)

    • @colonelquack

    And that's because I didn't score any of those films a 10/10 yet. My review of The Godfather 2 mostly applies to Part 1, they're both 10's. I reviewed SPR here on Movie Night, and gave it a 9. In hindsight, it probably deserves a 10.
    As for Pulp Fiction, I enjoyed, but it's far too overrated in my opinion. A solid 8/10, though.

  • @Jogwheel
    @Jogwheel  11 лет назад

    The series might, but Part 1 is pretty tight filmmaking.
    I'm curious then, in your second comment: you seem to acknowledged it's good, but in your first, you're confused as to why?

    No offense, but I think this could have been edited better. All you did when you talked about the movie was show the trailer without sound. You could've actually shown the scenes you were talking about, like when you talked about the scenes from The Matrix when you described the slow-motion bullet time effects, you could actually show the slow-motion bullet time scenes. Just makes more sense that way.

    Inception #2?! AWESOME!!! I didn't even think Inception would be marked. I love Inception.
    Btw... Die Hard as #31? Thought it would rank higher.

    Man, it seems like everyone I know hated cloverfeild, but I really liked it. Glad I'm not alone in my praise for it.
