I must say I can undestand, even as someone who is both sometimes skeptical of God, and at times has been in a position of belief, the idea, in relation to god we are always in the wrong, the idea does resonate deeply. Whether it is true or not. It it the sign of a great writer, that they can condense into a single line of a book the contemplations of a lifetime. (Nietzsche too is a bit like this) I think you chose many of these lines and ideas to explore in a short video. I read kierkegaard a long time ago and now feel I should return.
Thankyou for the reintroduction. Wonderful -

Hi, thank you so much and I'm glad to know you'll be re-reading Kierkegaard's works. I too am looking forward to the time when I can pick up his books once again and try to absorb from them as much as I can. :):)
"that they can condense into a single line of a book the contemplations of a lifetime." - Yes, it's just unbelievable how they did that!

Amreen, I will read something by Kierkegaard pretty soon. I watched this video in the podcast way by listening to it by switching the display of my phone off, then again watched it fully. I'm already excited about the Murakami book in your next video.

That seems like a fun way of absorbing RUclips content. Although someday we will work on recording podcast episodes as well, so that would be easier to listen to. Will keep that in mind. Thank you.
And yeah, I'm pretty excited to talk about Murakami's First Person Singular too! :D

If I were to guess, I'd say that a lot of this chapter is parody - that through the use of a naive narrator 'A', Kierkegaard is arguing the exact opposite of what he says he is arguing. For example, I think the introduction is mocking the concept of "classic works" proposed by other philosophers. Great video! This book makes my head spin.

Excellent thank you. Great perspective and overview, I have now read Chapter 1and a good critique, thank you💡👌. Hi Amreen I am up to speed with this now and look forward to chapter 2 snd 3 I found Diapsalmata unbelievably good and I keep going back to it, I am trying to get a handle on the first K at the moment. I also found your overview of my joint favourite philosopher along with Simone and Camus and your review of the earth shattering Thus Spoke Zarathustra excellent; well done. As Joseph K states ‘a book must be the axe to crack the frozen sea within us.’
Really enjoying your book selections and summaries…I think K would like this leap of faith quote God gives us the nuts but he doesn’t crack them.
I am doing a deep dive on K at the moment as I got into him a bit late but I can see why the later thinkers rated him so highly already. Looking forwards to 2 and 3 when you find the time. Well done and thank you.

      Most welcome :)
I started with The Sickness Unto Death. That felt like a good introduction, it laid the groundwork a bit.

Yes, of course. I've been meaning to share my thoughts on chapters 3 and 4 together in a single video, I'll get to it real soon. Probably in a month or so. But I do intend on completing the whole series.

How long did it take you to finish the book?

    • @ReadADayClub
      @ReadADayClub  3 года назад

It took me a while, a few months actually. I took it as one chapter at a time, and then would go off into another book and then return back to Kierkegaard. Since the philosophy is so dense, I decided to read it all slowly at my own pace.

@@ReadADayClub hello again. Been meaning to ask you how you found the difficulty of this book. I am talking a crack at it again, after leaving it unfinished, and as someone whose experience to Kierkegaard is novel and philosophical knowledge limited for now, I am wondering what was the experience like for someone like you, considering the whole book or at least the expositions of A.

It's really sad that people are no longer interested in educational videos ...if it would have been a reel of no value ..the views would have touched more than million....

You should include more images to make it more informative...and some background music also...if possible please give some examples ...(to corroborate your statements) and if possible speak in hindi as well to increase the viewership.
