I had a little length to my hair and wore the attire the other kids was wearing. One day I did something my dad didn't like and he piped up and said "I'm tired of all you hippies with all your free love". I replies, free love? Where? I ain't found none of that yet.

My grandpa had those on his car in the 1970's. He also would tie a red piece of material around the antenna of the car so he knew which car was his in a big parking lot. Those were some good days back then.
When I became an officer in 1987 there were plenty of guys on the force who joined in the mid 60s. They were of course young bucks then, as I was in 87, and they only commented on how cute some of the hippie women were, especially when not wearing bras....
