I just love how this 90 year old comes out from behind the curtain standing tall (clearly over 6 feet), erect, shoulders square, no cane, not shuffling like an old man. If I'm blessed enough to live that long that's how I want to be.

I met Burt Mustin in 1964 in SanAntonio Texas, hotel THE EL TROPICANO
I was 8 years old and my father introduced him. At the time I didn't know who he was, then he told me he does acting jobs on tv and was on leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith show. Said later your dad will point me out to you on tv, and then you can remember who you talked to. He was a very nice man, really kind to us kids. So now I know I met him. Thanks Burt.

Burt Mustin was such a class and good hearted guy. He projected a positive attitude, kindness, humility, decency, and humor. I liked how Doris Day stood up and greeted him. You could see the affection, respect, and love she had for Burt Mustin. Burt Mustin saw a lot in his life such as poverty, WWI, WWII, Great Depression, Turmoil in the 1960s, the Cold War, Vietnam and Korean War. He represented what was great about America. We could all learn from this mans life. I was four years old when this episode of the JC Show appeared in 1974. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and just be thankful for what we have. Burt graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (PMC), now Widener University, in 1903. He remains one of our most beloved alumni. He passed away in 1977 at the age of 92. In his memory the theater in Widener’s Alumni Auditorium was named “Burt Mustin Theater.” That was quite an honor since another well known PMC alumnus was Cecil B. DeMille, one of Hollywood’s most famous movie producers.

Of course, Burt Mustin always delivered whenever he did any part. Listen to how fast he talks at 90 -- no mental issues with Burt.
His only competition was another great old man with a long career -- Edward Everett Horton who was 2 years younger than Burt. I didn't mention Walter Brennan because he had a major career compared to Burt & Edward & won Academy Awards. He was also 10 years younger than these 2 character actors.
(What's sad about this clip is that everyone in it has passed away).

Now we see blobs of fat in stretchy pants with tattoos all over their body.. Disgusting. People knew how to age gracefully until the last 20 years or so. Yes, there are always exceptions to everything but generally people conducted themselves and carried themselves in a self respecting way with plenty of humility. Humility is gone and so is class. It doesn't seem like such an anomaly now, given that the likes of Kirk Douglas, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett and Doris Day all made it well past 90. But in Burt Mustin's prime, he was regarded as remarkable for longevity alone. It certainly didn't hurt that he was also one of the most gifted actors of all time, either. He is greatly, greatly missed.
