I look forward to 5:00 each evening on ME TV because they still show the reruns of Adam-12. That is one program I could never grow tired of. I had a short volunteer stint in Law Enforcement as a Reserve Deputy back in the 80's, but I can tell you that Adam 12 is as realistic as it gets when it comes to what a day in the life of a Police Officer is like. I truly hope and Pray that Adam-12 is never removed from the air on ME TV.
Now, as for who was my favorite on the show? I could never single out just one of these Officer, but I can say that Officers Reed and Malloy were equally excellent at their jobs. Loved both of these guys and will always love this show!

I still love to watch the reruns of Adam 12 everyday on Me TV. I've always enjoyed Martin Milner and Kent McCord but I also really enjoyed Fred Stromsoe as Officer Jerry Woods. I would love to have seen him have a bigger role on the show and his character explored more. I never liked Gary Crosby's Officer Ed Wells. It was the way his character was written and I have noticed in every role I've ever seen Gary Crosby in on television he was always written pretty much the same way, different character name but other than that his character was usually always annoying and unlikeable. He seemed typecast as if they didn't really think he could play any other type of character. Gary actually had acting talent but I don't think he got to show it much. However I very much enjoyed his singing talent. In fact I enjoyed it far more than his fathers. Adam 12 was and still is quality television.

Back when I separated from the Army and took a job on the PD we began watching Adam 12 when we didn't have the duty, called it training films back then. I still watch them every week night and still call them training films. Funny many of the things I see done, I can recall doing myself back in the 70's on the PD. By the time the 90's came around I was of high enough rank that I no longer did many of the things depicted. To tell the truth, I loved working on the PD in the 70's and 80's when I still drove the squad car and not the damn desk. Ah well age get's us all. RIP men of Adam 12.

Honestly not that much has changed aside from the technology, training, and efficiency. As far as the calls go, it really depends on the size of the city/department. Police still continue to get stupid and weird calls. Any cop will tell you that. I was in the profession for 25 years and was amazed the things people called about that they thought required police assistance. I had a friend that worked in a pretty decent sized neighboring agency and he was dispatched to a little old woman’s home because she said she needed help, but she wouldn’t say what the problem was. When he arrived she asked him to follow her inside, but would only say, “Come look.” Eventually she brought him to a closet where she pointed to a box on the shelf. Turns out she just wanted someone to get the box down from the shelf for her. Had another older cop friend who would occasionally get calls to get cats down from trees in a small town. He’d always say to them “Have you ever seen cat skeletons up in trees? They gotta come down to eat eventually.” Knew a police dispatcher who would get regular calls from a nut woman who would call to report that a non existent officer kept peeing in her freezer. 😂

I like your videos and, for the most part, they are pretty accurate. Being a child throughout the entire 1960s, I can tell you there were quite a few more cop shows in that era than you make it sound. I think there is a mistake made when you're talking about William Boyett. When you are showing various photos, you have one at 3:18 with Lee Marvin & a man against a car. I assume that you think that is Boyett's character being talked to by Marvin's character. In fact, that is actor Harry Landers (1921-2017) & not Boyett. Jack Webb's Production Co. was Mark VII (7, not 8) Limited.

Very true, just off the top of my head there was Dragnet (from the 50s) Dragnet 1967 (from which Adam 12 sprang), Decoy, 87th Precinct, Naked City, the Untouchables and contemporaneous with Adam 12, Hawaii 5-0 and Columbo (the first TV movie for Columbo was in 1968, with a non-Peter Falk version the character a few years earlier for a teleplay). Not to mention comedies the Andy Griffith show and Car 54, Where are you? Shows about cops, one way or another, weren't particularly rare.
I'm also annoyed with 2:37 in reference to the "show" Dragnet, when that is a poster from the parody film from the 80's.

There's a school of psychology that believes in order to heal deep hurt of resentments and misplaced trust, it's best to get it out with a licensed psychologist or if need be, psychiatrist. Apparently Mr. Crosby's hurt was so terrible only by putting it all down in a printed book could he somehow address and mitigate the hurt deep inside him. In 1968, when Adam 12 started, I was 8 years old, soon to be 9! I watched every single episode and kept watching reruns as I grew older. I was so bummed out when Adam 12 went off duty in 1975, but that show is why I ended up joining the LAPD Los Angeles Police Department and worked as a patrol officer and motor/traffic officer for many years! I'm 63 and obviously retired now, but it's bcos of Adam 12 that I had a fantastic career as a police officer and that I'm receiving my police retirement until the day I die 😊❤ Honestly when I heard Martin Millner passed away, I actually wept since from day one on the show, I looked up to him and he was certainly a big reason I chose my law enforcement career at LAPD! I have every season and shoe on the complete set of Adam 12 DVDS hahaha 😆 I'm an Adam 12 🤓 NERD

Hi Janet - Adam 12 wss shown in the UK in the late 60's/early 70s, and I think you can still get at least some episodes on RUclips. Like others on this thread, the show was one of the reasons I joined the police and served for almost 31 years, albeit in the UK (Glasgow) It was a brilliant show, although it probably looks a bit pedestrian by today's standards. It was actually used for training purposes by the LAPD. I liked that it portrayed the cops as the good guys who always did their best even though they sometimes got it wrong. Very different from today's drama where cops are more often than not portrayed as corrupt or downright criminal. I hope you can find and enjoy some episodes. Best wishes FJM xx
