    I went through the same issue... finally got to marry the love of my life in december and i lost almost 25lbs before the ceremony.... my dress was a corset like this and by the time it was "laced" up the satin panel that was put in it was almost gone

      I had the samething happen. Sorta was dieting about 6 months before but I gave up stopped dieting. Still at 6 ft weighed 135 pounds. Average about 150 to 155. It left but on the honeymoon most of it came back after one week. Stress can do that. I felt I could relax and my body went welcome back.

    Why would they leave it to only 4 days before if they knew that maybe wouldn’t be enough time for alterations? surely scheduling it at least a week before wouldn’t have made much difference in her weight!

      for some people a week can make a difference. you can lose a pound or two in a week.
      though rather than take it in again I would probably have added invisible removable straps or something if the worry was the dress falling down

      @@Unknown_-.. It does for some people, particularly in a very tight-fitting garment such as that dress she was sausaged into. She was continuing to lose weight even after the ladies told her to stop, and because the corsetting had already been altered to the maximum, had she lost more than just a couple of pounds, the dress would have been loose enough that the top would have fallen down, and that would not have been good.

    I am a 2023 bride October 7th! I wont be doing my alterations till august 19th. I've lost about 24 pounds... I am 4'10 and was 166 now around 140 or so... I was technically a size 14 but they gave me a 16 for just "incase" I took it offensive lol but either way I lost weight and I am so excited to see how I look... I remember I loved the dress but my biggest insecurity was my belly, arms and back.

      @@CynthiaPrice79 She came in FOUR DAYS beforehand. Why not a week? Or two? Have YOU personally ever been the one responsible for fixing someone else's last minute thing. I have. I made wedding cakes for decades. Some things you can't wait until the last minute for.

      It was the second time the dress was altered and they left it to last minute, because the bride kept losing weight. She mentioned the fitting was on Monday, so Friday would have been a week before the wedding, but it would have given the bride two extra days to lose weight, but not much more working hours. They probably had made sure the seamstress had time for the alterations during the week and the through the night comment was just for drama.

      I think they just said all of that for the drama of the show. I'm a bridal seamstress and if all they really did was take in the sides of the dress, it wouldn't have taken a long time to do that. Maybe 1-2 hours depending on if the lace was sewn on top of the seam or sewn into the seam...bridal shows can be really dramatic sometimes...

      They're nothing but very old episodes. There hasn't been a new show made in years, and very likely won't be. Jo still runs the dress shop, but it appears that Al has left.

    Is this video after Al’s surgery? She looks fantastic, and slimmer, to me.

      No, it was several years prior to it. There hasn't been any shows made after her surgery, other than the failed one they did together where they were housecleaners of hoarded houses. It lasted only about three episodes before being dropped (it wasn't good at all!)
      In that show, Al was clearly about 150 pounds lighter, and while she looked good physically, she seemed to be rather stressed.

      It wasn't Al or Jo who made the mistake, it was whoever posted the video clip. The ladies likely never saw it, and certainly all these years later, they wouldn't much care. The show no longer exists, so they aren't going to be watching for mistakes.

      It's literally the editors job to write the text; they should know how to differentiate "losing" and "loosing". It's not even a grammar mistake. In English speaking regions, English is taught in school.

      Another dressmaker here… I had to totally deconstruct and reassemble a dress like this. It went from a E40 to a US size 6. Saw the sun rise on that one! ❤
