I did my test 4 weeks ago. 25 handicap. I am 61 so injury prevention is really key. We are working on stability and strength. It isn't cheap but as they said you can't drive a compact like a Ferrari and not crash. My playing partners are spending their cash on new Drivers. I am spending it on the person swinging the Driver. Great video and I bet you were surprised.
At 56 with arthritis in right hip and some cervical disc issues from old injuries, I started this process about a month ago. For me it’s about performance AND injury prevention. I’ve always been an athlete and my score was a 26, so a real eye-opener. Still, I’m excited because there is so much room for improvement!
Keep in mind the pulley ratio when using cable machines to compare your own numbers. The machine Titleist is using here is a 4:1 ratio per LifeFitness (the manufacturer), which means the weight on the stack is not a true 1:1 number of how much weight you can lift.
I saw a TPI certified physio. It might have been something they wanted in their practice but they weren’t ready. Thank you for this video. Nice to see it done right, or at least better than my experience.
I am in the process of going through this soon. I think some of my golf muscles are not strong enough and getting my deltoids way too sore. Thanks for sharing.
For Lat (and to a degree Tricep) tightness, there is a simple but effective way to get some of that flexibility back: HANGS from a bar! Great way to let gravity do the work, and improve your grip strength & decompress your spine at the same time. But don’t do it everyday…maybe every 3-4 days and add some other supplemental exercises (butchers block & basic overhead triceps stretch) & therapies (foam rolling, deep tissue work). If you have access to a sauna / jacuzzi, do a couple of hangs for 15-30 seconds after your completely warmed up and “jello”. But don’t take the whole bottle of aspirin on this advice. You can burn out your grip muscles & especially being a golfer, that could be very detrimental. Great vid and big fan of your putting tool kit I purchased a while back.
I would love to have done these tests 40 years ago. I was a county athlete, but now at 66 with various health issues I’d be awful. Very interesting to see though..
That was really interesting and thank you for sharing your fitness results. It's definitely not easy to be so forthcoming about that sort of thing :D. However, is vertical jump the best measure for leg strength in a golf swing? That's so dependent on weight too. I doubt John Daly had an 18" jump, but no doubt had a ton of strength.
Just train like an athlete..you pick an average athlete from any other sport that is physically demanding will ace tpi screening most of the time.. strength, mobility, conditioning are basic requirements in most games
don’t physically try to force your swing to increase club head speed in order to maximise distance, that’s a recipe for disaster on the course - tempo and timing is the key - maintain strength and flexibility, don’t look for distance, distance will find you !
Not a fan of the chest press test. With no support it severely limits what a lighter body weight can press even though the strength is potentially there.
Tight hamstrings are a myth (mostly). Nearly 100% of the time it is a motor control issue that you can fix in 10 seconds! Stretching this issue is a temporary solution at best.
Good question. They told me that a higher handicap does not necessary mean you’re going to be slower but it does indicate that you’re using your body’s abilities to the absolute max and that there is a bigger risk for injuries if you’re swinging that fast with a higher fitness hcp.
Yes because we were hitting balls and testing clubs prior and after this. Honestly could have done that in workout clothes but didn’t know if that would have been inappropriate haha
I will learn? I swing it at 180mph and play professionally. If you watch the video they mainly say I need to get more flexible and stronger to prevent injuries. Not to necessary become a much better golfer.

Love this and 100% agree with your approach
Definitely spend it on your body. It maybe originally for playing better golf but long run...it is good for your health.
Great choice sir, it will benefit you way more than just in golf!
That's a true investment. Hope you have many years of great golf to come and maybe a new driver when they're on sale as well haha.
How much did it cost? How did you sign up?

Loved everything about this video. As a former strength and conditioning coach this is right up my alley
Glad you enjoyed it!

Excellent expose Fredrik. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the program.
Let us know what exercises and lifts you're going to do to build that base strength. Can't wait to see the progress. Good luck Fredrik!
Absolutely! Will keep you guys updated.
Great video. Interesting analysis. Good luck!
Great video. Thx Fredrik. Looking forward to watching your progress....
Appreciate you! Time to get to work
This was awesome, huge for the program 😁

This is great advice! Will for sure be hanging more. Appreciate you!

Never too late to make improvements though!
Very informative. Thanks for giving us an inside view.
Appreciate you!
Excellent assessment!
No landing mechanics when vertical jumping? Feet parallel when landing -softer landing to absorb ground reaction forces -kinetic chain checkpoints
You guys are so fun and i really enjoy your videos. I am going to TPI on 27th . I would also like to go see Rhoads . We live in La Costa. See ya soon
Great video
This is great content mate , really insightful looking forward to see what kind of strength/mobility training you take on to get that Volvo upto speed
Really great video Fred 👍🏻
Appreciate you!
Hi~ Fredrik,enjoyed!unreal .
Appreciate you!
This is soo interesting. I’d really like to take this test (and it would be awful…😂)!

They have a few ways to measure strength. Vertical force is jumping but they also measured my strength while doing dumbbell split squats
how are you doing the calculation?
Does any facility provide this test in Dallas, TX?
Interesting it explained a few things I didn't know
Great!
I always thought my hamstrings were tight and then found out I just have short arms.

50% single leg squat for 8 is pretty tough
Where can I go to get tested to get my numbers if I’m a beginner golfer?
Golftec is a great place to start!
Find a TPI pro in your area
These guys wouldn't even insure me with my high TPI handicap. 😂😂

My problem area is I have no golf clubs
kind of surprised they didn't test pull ups - very high correlation between the ability to do them and speed.
Good thing they didn't haha. Pretty sure I would be useless at that. Time to get to work!
@@FredrikandHannah I just did a similar assessment at Joey D's in Jupiter and I am trying to upgrade to a Volvo!
The initial screen is not for strength or power,it’s looking for golf specific mobility
You don't have the juice to become a well off pro.😊
To be fair I can swing the club at 130mph. Just go back a few videos and you will see 😎
I’m surprised he didn’t bust you on not keeping your chest square and no rotation
How is he hitting 180 ball speeds with a "24 handicap golfer fitness body"???
Good question. They told me that a higher handicap does not necessary mean you’re going to be slower but it does indicate that you’re using your body’s abilities to the absolute max and that there is a bigger risk for injuries if you’re swinging that fast with a higher fitness hcp.
Is there reason y you work out in golf clothing and not comfortable gym clothes
Yes because we were hitting balls and testing clubs prior and after this. Honestly could have done that in workout clothes but didn’t know if that would have been inappropriate haha
lmao this dude is unsporty as hell 😅
“Un sporty” isn’t even a word, Max. If you’re going to try and leave mean spirited comments, at least commit and proof read them!
Go through the assessment and get back to us.
Many golfers don’t strength train. It’s data
This guy is weak AF 😂
3522 Stanley Corners
Amazing how there was any professional golfers before tpi. 🤔
Wow! Being overweight REALLY goes against being able to hit it far!
You will learn. The world is full of people who hit it long, how about learning to score low...
