    We have plans to post more vidoes like this, but will also be carving out some time to film additional educational content with Dr. Rose and Dave Phillips. Is there anything you'd like them to cover with regards to instruction, biomechanics or training?

      Specifically: lower body mobility and engagement, particularly for senior players. Generally: application of this vast knowledge for seniors. Thanks!

      Common limitations - either around flexibility, strength, or speed in specific areas - and some common downstream effects in the golf swing that can arise as a result

      Would love to see some local vs global biomechanics discussions when it comes to different body types, limb length ratios, height, etc. I’m 6’4” and have always wanted to see what happens to the data around mechanics and forces if the “pga tour average” data set was refined down to just players around my height, body type. Like do all the taller efficient tour pros tends to do more of x pattern vs shorter efficient tour pros do more of y pattern.

    • @christopherxl
      @christopherxl Месяц назад +3

      Generally, I suggest the “root cause” based starting point (the same way Greg starts with his physical screening) because this channel is uniquely equipped to tie golf outcomes all the way back to their physiological roots, and is therefore uniquely able to equip golfers with the knowledge to better understand the “why” behind certain “what”s, and “how” they can go about moving forward.
      Diametrically opposed to the clickbaity, “this one move will fix your XYZFLAW” RUclips video that never mentions an even a single (out of many possible) “why”s.

    • @christopherxl
      @christopherxl Месяц назад +5

      @@l33tLXlove this idea. What do we tend to see with people with long limbs short torso? Short legs long torso? Height variation? Etc.
      Could be a whole series (so could my other suggestion)

    Best advise I’ve ever heard from a goal coach , no doubt that if they heed that advise this young lady will be a serious contender , if I could add one extra element to creating the perfect young player is physiological resilience , have a sports phycologist early in their career so that they have coping mechanisms when things inevitably dont go to plan . Scotty is the best player on the planet not due to his swing as there are many players with technically better swings than his own , but because his mental attitude is so strong .

    Your videos are top notch, great information, helps a lot teaching, thank you very much Dr.Rose! One question: do you actually also want a player, after weight shift and rotation to quickly stop the front foot (slamming on the brakes) to get the "cracking whip " effect - like Fred Couples did with a "stomping" of left heel followed by rotation of the hip and then by strongly blocking his left leg to cause an acceleration of arms and clubhead through impact.

    Would be fun to do a progression series with a good mid 40 yr old player amateur player. First episode would be your standard screening and swing assessment. You could have one or several subsequent episodes of the work that player then goes through on both the physical and golf swing side. Final episode would be a follow-up screen and assessment to see if the work actually translated into tangible results. As it so happens, I am a mid 40 year old low index player with a swing speed around 108 mph that would love to volunteer for such a series :). Think it would make for great content.

    Great content! I would love to see more detail on creating a bigger moment arm. You dealt with it briefly on one video, but it's not clear to me how to do that with an iron swing if the upper hub is supposed to be over the lower hub (Dana Dahlquist expression) on the downswing that many top teachers advocate.

    Greg mentions that he cares about minimum threshold strength levels and that you can almost get too strong and it can have problems-is this just for juniors or is it for all ages? The only thing I can think of is possibly a mobility (e.g. olympic lifters tend to have less hip IR) or elasticity issue. Or would it be something like diminishing returns on golf performance (e.g. going from 500 to 600 deadlifts is not worth injury risk / working on speed would probably be more efficient for increasing power for this hypothetical golfer)?

    If I have to critique this exercise, it would be that, imo, all this information could be a bit overwhelming for her, and coupled with the constant mentioning of her assessments is under the average on many areas, could be detrimental. I would have said that she has these problems, but that is common that young players have problems with various aspects, but there are ways to rectify this, rather than make her feel that she is the only one with these problems. I am sure if one would test e.g. top five rated tennis players, there would be many areas of difference which makes every player unique, but not necessarily predicts who is the nr 1 player.

    Way too technical. Golf is still a right brain activity. Start engaging the left and you will start to actively hamstring yourself in one way or another. Seen it a million times - Nick Faldo, Lydia Ko or develop the yips like Johnny Miller. Learn it - then forget it.
