Luis Presto , who was trained by Panama Lewis, admitted in a documentary that he took "the mix" in a fight. Presto says its a crushed asthma pill in water that opens up the lungs and gives the fighter new life. Presto said when he took it he was blown away at how quickly he felt rejuvenated. The video of him saying this is on RUclips.

That shit works. After watching the documentary of billy. I tried the mix it works. The water tastes like shit tho. It works fast. If you don't believe me try it. Just spree it in the water and mix it. It feels like you have a tank of oxygen in your nose. Panama cheated this fight. You can test it your self.

Both boys bopped each other, ala Arguello's 13th-round right to Pryor's face, though Alexis missed the follow-up hook, and Pryor/'s steady body-and-head bombs, preceded by his underrated jabs. Arguello's usually great power seemed to have lessened at 140 pounds,as Pryor absorbed a number of Alexis' shots before finishing him in the fourteenth.Great bout by both warriors, but I'd have LOVED to know what was in the mysterious bottle Pryor's trainer,Panama Lewis, mixed.RIP, lads !!!!!

Pryor had never seen a 14th or 15th round before not to mention a 14th and 15th round after taking shots from Alexis Arguello all night. Yet you think the water was mixed with water and Pryor, after getting nearly decapitated in the 13th round just jumps off his stool like it's round 1 "because that's his style, to go all out." ? LOL. Yeah, that sounds nice in theory, but then there's the reality.

Luis Resto was the fighter who was trained by Panama Lewis and had his gloves unpadded by him against the late John Collins in a fight in 1983 . Lewis was a talented trainer but he went too far and "if" he did give Pryor an unfair advantage with illegal substances it tarnishes a great fight .

I do agree that Pryor was a greet boxer, but suing antihistaminic pilds is illegal , Yes he won the second fight fair. This fight took a lot from alexis, you can't compare having more than 80 fights in your record taking and giving punches than having 30 fights, that alexis was more a durable fighter. i beleived if the fight would had been 2 years before and in the lightweight division and without stimulants the outcome coudl had been different.

I don't remember the exact year of the first Pryor v. AA fight, but I think it was around 1982 or 1983.
I generally don't bet on sports or anything else, but I knew most people didn't know about 'The Hawk' & that AA was a well-known and well-established fighter & champion.
I bet $100 @ 5-1 odds. A lot of money back then, especially for a youngster like myself.
After I made the bet, I told anyone that would listen that Pryor (Who?) would beat AA.

You can hear Lewis ask for the mixed bottle between the 2nd and 3rd round as well. Why this is never brought to light I don't know. Pryor was benefitting from the mixed bottle the entire bout. It took a fighter as tough,as strong,as powerful, and as skilled as Aaron Pryor ON THE SHIT to defeat Alexis Arguello in 14 brutal rounds. That's how great Alexis Arguello was ,even it being his 1st fight as a Jr.Welter.

Any way i'd new Pryor had a good chin but yes it was suspicious how he was tired at the end of the 12th and 13th rounds and suddenly looks like as fresh as the first round in the 14th round when he ko Arguello. Ok so I've been researching Pryor and watched all his fights since all this hype blossomed recently that he was the best 140 lb. fighter of all time. I just don't see him beating an elite fighter @140 in their prime such as Duran, Benitez and many more. Arguello as we all know stepped up another weight class to fight Pryor which is actually his 4th weight class to step up to. He had been fighting professionally for about 13 yrs.before this fight and was definately past his prime. Arguello had tons of power at the lower weights but stepping up to 140 was a recipe for disaster. Once a fighter keeps moving up in weight he doesn't necessarily gain punching power as was in this case. Had Pryor went down to Arguellos 130 or 135 and were not even having this conversation. Arguello was much slower at 140 also. I see Duran countering Pryor that woild stop Pryor in a bloody mess and k.o. Same with Leonard, there's no f******* way Pryor could touch Leonard it would be Pryor throwing and Leonard countering to Pryors head, another bloody mess with a k.o. or stoppage. The fact is if Pryor fought one of the elite it would have been open season on Pryors head and body. He never fought a champion in their prime. I saw a clip with referee Richard Steele and he was asked if Pryor could have beaten Duran and he just shook his head and chuckled and said no.

pryor was overhyped and overrated. He beat two great fighters. Both older and past their primes. He cheated Arguello and was knocked down by Cervantes. Personally, I think Arguello, in his prime, was better than Duran, Benitez and Leonard. But they were NATURALLY bigger fighters. pryor loses against ALL three of them!

The second fight slimply was not the same this fight took a lot out of Alexis, and he did not have the heart or the will in the second fight the way he was ko in this fight was frighting he could had die in this fight if 2 or 3 punches more would had landed. I never see a man coming in the 14th round throwing punches at that high speed and precision. Pryor was tired at the end of the 13th round just watch the replay he was gasping for air and just fell on his chair corner.

The second fight Pryor stopped Arguello in 10 rounds I believe, and did it fair and square. The second fight was a different fight with two different fighters. Once you fight a fight like this you're never quite the same again. Pryor was much younger than Arguello ringwise, which of course makes a huge difference after a brutal fight. The second fight is irrlelvant to THIS ONE. I know you're a Pryor fan, as am I. But, don't let your loyalty blind you from an obvious display of cheating by Lewis.

You're also a fool if you don't think that Panama Lewis felt that whatever was in that bottle, wasn't going to benefit Pryor or give him an edge, otherwise he wouldn't have mixed it. As I said, Pryor was benefitting from whatever it was from as early as the second round on where you can hear Lewis ask for it between the 2nd and 3rd round and then again between the 13th and 14th round. Pryor wasn't fighting Akio Kameda, he was fighting Alexis Arguello. A man known for closing the show.

Dejo a Pryor tirar 2 o 3 golpes mas innecesarios.

The sad thing is, the stuff in the black bottle....it could have all been cleared up with the drug test after the fight. Both fighters were supposed to be tested and they didn't do the test, so this great battle will forever be shrouded in the mystery of WHAT WAS IN THE BLACK BOTTLE. Sad.

Thats the thing, and Ive always been an Arguello fan. Pryor was an animal, thats why Ray Leonard ducked his ass. Arguello ruled the 70s and the division below, Pryor and he alone was too much for him. The rematch only went 10 rds and believe me they were watching AP like a "hawk".

Then you don't know his history. He was dropped by Cervantes, Johnson and Kameda. None of those packed anywhere near the power Arguello did. He was also rocked by Montilla and Hart and knocked down twice and out by Young. Not the chin people seem to think he had!

to the new school, Pryor amateur record was 204 win's 16 lost tired of people saying his amazing stamina, as a kid, before he turns pro , they said the same thing, before he turns 18 , every body says ,he had incredible stamina, this was before he turns pro, he could knock u out with the left or right hand, guess what, he beat Alex, the same way he knock out 31 people. lost only one fight two years after he retired, best pounds for pounds ever, that why he in the boxing hall of fame.

    • @constantine7382

Overrated fighter that often had to get up from the canvas to win. Great chin? Don't think so. He beat two REAL fighters and both were older fighters. And he was troubled by both. Cervantes dropped him and Arguello was cheated. He is NOT deserving of the Hall of Fame!

I am a bodybuilder and i have taken many supplements.I am also a expert on stimulants and other performance enhancing drugs. The other bottle given to Aaron Pryor didn't have enough time to get into his bloodsteam to give him any advantage in this fight if it really was something that was suppose to help him.I find it hilarious for anyone with any brain cells to think that a sip of a bottle and 5 seconds later you have the strenght and stamina of a lion.Shit please tell me where i can get that.

So a guy who was dropped twice by Cervantes, once by Johnson, once by Kameda, was rocked by Montilla and Gataan Hart, of all people stood up to the punches of a true one punch guy? That punch in the 13th finishes anybody. A guy, Alexis, that actually dropped middleweights while training for this fight. And there are still idiots that think this was on the up and up? And oh, by the way, according to Ring magazine, pryor REFUSED the post fight urine test. And you think this lying cheat DESERVES to be remembered as a great? Pathetic.

In case you guys didn't know, Pryor was a cocaine user at this time and around 7:23 his ringman asks for the "other bottle" that "he mixed", then it appears that he puts something up to Pryor's nose as well. Pryor was coked out when he knocked out Arguello lol

Thisisbeptv Unfortunately, there is no evidence that Arguello was doped that night, but there is unquestionable evidence, caught on camera, that Pryor drank some special Kool-Aid that gave him extraordinary energy when both boxers, as seen on the video, were gassed out. It was juts a matter of time and sooner or later one of them was going to quit, but not in the way everyone anticipated. Nonetheless a classic yet controversial match in boxing history. RIP Arguello.
