I really needed this! I have autism and sometimes forming an opinion and sticking to it can be really hard for me because most of the time I just go "oh ok random man said he didn't like this so now I can't like it either" but everyone can have their own taste and shit
Also, how is your show going? How is writing? Do u have a clear concept yet, or are u in more of a development stage? Do u have any music written yet? Tbh I'm real excited for u to radicalize Broadway (down w the bourgeoisie!)
+Anna is a Trashcan't The first show is done in the sense that it could be performed, everything is written, it's about two hours of music, but I'm also going back to revise it all the time The second show is like, 50% "done" in a draft sort of sense
I am very excited to hear your take on American Psycho and how it works as an adaptation, as well as its themes with rich people being self-centered scumbags and capitalism destroying people's individuality!
Thank you for acknowledging that works are often problematic. It was fairly common with musicals from the 1940s to the 1960s like South Pacific, when the US government (in particular, the State Department) used musicals as propaganda. The orientalism perpetuated there then fed into more relatively recent shows like Miss Saigon (I'm sure all of what I'm saying is preaching to the choir).
That really stinks about your Greatest Showman part two video :( I was really looking forward to hearing the rest of your opinion as it differed so greatly from my own!
There are quite a few critically acclaimed musicals that I am meh on at best. And there are a lot of musicals that some might consider trashy that are in heavy rotation on my playlist. It's all a matter of taste.
What a great video! It reminds me of little shop and the unfortunate implications it has and I know you've done it already but I was wondering if you'd ever consider revisiting it's analysis from a racial lens? (It gets super yikesy and I really don't know how to articulate it)
+Anna is a Trashcan't It absolutely would warrant a revisit from a racial lens, I don't know if I'm equipped to handle it properly right now but probably in the future yes
In my opinion very few shows are trashy. If anything, some show’s fandoms are trashy. For example, i love Be More Chill, but the fandom is mostly middle schoolers, and it’s all just cancer

+Anna is a Trashcan't also yes finally someone who understands what I'm struggling here to do

This is such an important video! Also on a side note, you look great!
+Remicah/Micah Robertson Thank you!
I must say, this has to be my favorite RUclips channel of all time!

I appreciate you making a video like this.

Also I wholly agree with your take on Chess

What do you mean, looking at Little Shop from a racial lens? Because Audrey II is often played by a black actor?
Thank you:)
