One of the best things about this channel is the consistency of the instruction. Having watched dozens of videos, I can't recall anything even resembling a contradiction. I say that to say, that it's easy to trust you guys when you're always preaching the same messages. You know what works, and that's what you teach. It's awesome, and we thank you.
Been listening to you guys for several months and the content is bar none the best. I’ve been studying the golf swing on my own for 20 years and by watching your content I was able to fix the major flaw plaguing my swing. It wasn’t something you said directly, but you gave me enough info to figure out the last major piece. I’ve never been able to hit a bladed club until last week. Now I’m cranking my 7 iron 175 yards dead at the pin, with a beautiful little draw. One thing I noticed from swinging correctly is I’m finally releasing the club in the follow through. Once I make contact with the ball, the club head pulls my arms up and around. No tension, no trying to guide the club head. It is an incredibly free feeling after impact.
@@2cardarsenal310 appreciate that and it definitely is a decent swing but I feel like I can get more out of it; there’s more gas in the tank that I’m trying to figure out how to get to, and in doing so there will be a positive correlation to more consistency.
Found you on RUclips this morning, and I love your teaching method and aids. I believe the stuff I read this a m will boost my driving performance. Thank you ... jt
This is the most chill video that shows like 4 different things that we have all been shown the wrong way our entire lives hahaha. WHAT A VIDEO. Thank you so much, I will be working on all of this as I’m sure many many many others will be
Great video - love the simple explanation and use of drill station. I think I need to go find a few pool noodles for my alignment sticks and then head to the grass range!
Great explanation of correct viewing of plane thanks guys. I always understood that setting up of the camera towards or outside the target line could distort things but didn't realise the height of the camera (even if in line with the hands at address) could also distort the view of plane. Haven't heard anyone else explain this. You guys are ahead of the game with instruction.
Great video. Three things I teach plane, pivot, and Club-face after proper set up and grip I would just add one more thing to the plane station. That is to set the alignment rods with noodle over them at the same angle as the club you are using. Do you think that is important?
Another great video! Thanks guys. Quick question: I understand placing the camera in line with the hands at hand height to get a distortion free angle. But, why is the plane line drawn from the heel of the club through the elbow vs. utilizing the original shaft plane at address or the lie angle of the club? thx
Thanks guys, at setup, if the driver shaft is slightly back pointing more towards your buckle than alighted down the left side (the impact point), does this mean the face is aiming slightly left of target at address ?
Hi guys Enjoyed the video. Your video about hip movement have help me alot. One question i have what angle should the line be drawm from the ball to establish the plane?
I have been trying to thrust from my standing leg on the back swing your instruction has made me realise how bad this is great instructional demonstration has really helped me improve my transmission . Thanks guys 👍🏻
Looking DTL on the swing plane view of DJ. Is it correct to say as it pertains to the club head "being outside of the hands" that it should pass through your lower chin on the back swing? Reference: 6:57
Excellent video fellows. This is first rate professional instruction for the high handicapper right down to the touring pro. Invaluable information!! Thank you for this.
I'm confused about the lower body. Do you keep the right hip stationary and rotate around it or does the right hip sway back. Does the left foot clear the way it does with the other clubs?
Great video, guys! I’m good with almost all that you did here but I am really struggling with the extension of the arms past impact. No matter how much I try, I can’t get the club pointing out at the target. My arms fold and the club is immediately going up past impact. Is my chest just not moving? Do I not have enough extension? Late extension? I hope this makes sense. How do you get that straight line release where the club is out pointing away from you? I’d pay a lot of money to get this figured out. Im a +.8 hcp and I’m amazed I am with my swing breaking down like this. Hope you can help.
Hey lads, you guys do an amazing job! Wondered if you have considered doing putting analysis/breakdown? (I ask as we have gone back into lockdown here in NZ and that's my weak point/focus for now and could see anything in your backlog)
Keep in mind the avatar is just a visual aid for the data. The avatar is NOT what’s being measured. The measurements come from the 30+ markers placed on the pro’s body and club. The older versions of the software, the avatar’s trail elbow looks “flying.” That has since been fixed to match where elbow truly is during the swing.
@AthleticMotionGolf I just realized after video taping my swing that I was relying on my left arm going too far across my chest instead of raising the arms on the turn . If I have that Freddie Couples feel of swinging out, it freed my right arm up on the turn and helped me get the hands higher and not collapse the right arm past 90 on the back swing. I did not shift and recenter enough but I could feel the driver drop in the slot better. Thx for all you guys give to us! Would love to save my $$ and come back for a live lesson!
Best video i have watched, but view from behind appears to show downswing starts prior to pressure shift toward target. Is this an illusion, a depiction of Matsuyama's swing, or ?. Also, a small point, plane guides look to intersect Sean's (sp?) belt, not elbows. Thanks, this is a great series of videos.
I would love you guys do pro profile on two great players Moe Norman and Mike Austin, I would be interested in how similar and or different they are to the traditional golf swing?
Great information guys! Can I get clarification on the camera line. I know it needs to be "hands high", but should the camera be shooting down the "hands line" or down the "ball line"? My apologies if I should be able to determine this viewing the video but I have some uncertainty. Thanks gentlemen!
I'm not sure if they come back to reply to comments after a week, so I will try to help. I believe they have said in line with the hands, or down the hands line. However, I think the idea is to be on the plane at hands height, so down the line just slightly in front of the hands may be more accurate.
Have you guys ever done a video on frozen takeaway? I love the technical aspects of all your videos, especially when comparing the pros to ams. But as the Golden Bear said… it’s 90% mental… Sometimes I freeze on the tee box. I’d love to see a video analyzing the time it takes a pro to start their swing after address and any suggestions to get unfrozen… (playing Let it go 🎵 from Frozen in my head now..)
Perry, Just a suggestion but develop a pre-shot routine from behind ball and once you address the ball FOCUS on looking more at the target than the ball before swinging. A few waggles maybe, slight forward press of hands (Keeping Clubface Square) and let it go. Do the same thing every time and you will find success. NEVER get too stagnant or still over the ball looking downwards. It even works great on putting, Look at intended line and hole several times visualizing the ball going in, once back at the ball immediately initiate stroke. You will be surprised how well you roll the ball at the hole. Hope this helps and have fun on the course.
Great content! I like the three points. SUGGESTION: Teach us how to learn to swing faster. I know the key is to swing with good technique. But once there, how do we learn to break the governor of speed at take it up a couple of notches.
can you hit good drives with pressure on the toes at impact or do you need pressure on the left heel? I feel I tend to get to the heel a little early, and maybe thats why I feel I spin out a little?
Question: Butch Harmon and Hank Haney do not agree on where the club shaft should be pointing at on the backswing and downswing. On the downswing, Butch Harmon states the club shaft should point on the target line in his infomercial for his laser aid but Hank Haney states the club shaft should point in front of the target line in his book "The only golf lesson you'll ever need", what is the correct answer, where should the club shaft point at on the backswing, top of swing and downswing? You guys have a great program, thanks!
I know that you guys talk about a good grip. Is neutral the best starting point or would you guys prefer to see a slightly stronger grip? I know that is a little bit of a gray area question, but what do you guys typically advocate for? Thanks for the great content. I hope to get a lesson with Shaun at some point. All the best!
OK, I officially stopped watching all other golf instruction videos. These guys have the best way of breaking down the swing where you instantly GET IT. Sean and Mike are the best. Wish they were around 20 years ago. I think I would have been a much better player.

This was going to be my question. No one ever talks about where or how to set that swing plane with the training aids (noodles/rods)!!!

But, why is the plane line drawn from the heel of the club through the elbow vs. utilizing the original shaft plane at address or the lie angle of the club? thx

Thank you!
Thanks guys, at setup, if the driver shaft is slightly back pointing more towards your buckle than alighted down the left side (the impact point), does this mean the face is aiming slightly left of target at address ?

Just at the tip of the elbow

Great video guys. Is practicing swing plane in a mirror an Optical Illusion?
It can be. Try to get yourself as far away from mirror to minimize illusion 👍
great video, please can we get a link to the best grip video you have for controlling the face?? Thanks!

Is this swing plane and body movement the same from wedge to driver for a stock swing?
Allowing for the differences in club length, yessir👍
How do you feel about the "flying" trail arm on gears pro on back swing? Maybe it was the camera angle?

What angle are you using when your setting up your swing plane noodles?
Set it a bit higher than the lie angle angle of the club as it sits on the ground address.
What is the training aid for the fingerprint/butt used in the video?
its one that we make. We will be selling it to public soon

Neutral is a great starting point👍

@4:57 everything you need to replicate for quality drives.
Im confused how do those noodles not cause and over the top, It looked like Shawn shot went dead right.
They help you visuaize the plane. A ball going right doesn't mean over the top. The clubface angle determines most of the start line.
