(oh, and special thanks to Dave Pollack for letting us use his juicy rendition of the star spangled banner!!) - Игры
I really hope Tom is more than just an intern. You can never have too much SUSD
Pretty sure they made Tom SUSD a while ago
They did! And We are all blessed because of that decision.
Tom’s great! Fits right in and is cute as a button.
@@TheNerindil Yes, I am so drawn in by his toddler-blue eyes!
Unfortunately Tom was fired shortly after this review and never seen again...
Tom: "Quinn's, you do this for a living. You should be better at it"
Quinn's: "Hey!!!"
10/10
I think that was my favourite intro. Like ever
It certainly had some Edgar Wright influences, lol.
The ending was even better! ;)
This video is just good overall! ❤
@@NathanMajor some heavy day today in there too
@Wizzykin I didn't get the bad Joke thing, what was the Joke there?
I adore how awkwardly hilarious it is to have Nixon's photo on the monitor the entire time.
You weren't there when he was plastered all over my dorm, the bathroom, and in the form of a life-size cardboard cutout. I had a unique freshman year.
Aces Tom. Fun review (and a game I adore).
"The Evidence" "Oooooooooh"
"The Momentum" "Aaaaaaaah"
"The Initiative" **aggressive sneezing**
That's a soundbite of a character moving a box from a early to mid 2000s videogame featuring fighting dudes whose name I cannot remember
Somewhat known for its use in LISA - the painful RPG's song "Work Harder"
@@underdog353777 Shenmue 2, I think is the source.
underdog353777 woah! i thought i recognised it from LISA. what a fun sound
Legendary Delin's grunt (from Shenmue 2, yes) (and also used in the LISO OST) Good hearing guys!
This intro has officially surpassed Matt and Quinns trying to coordinate pouring a cup of tea.
Which episode was that?
ruclips.net/video/ittbKrbU5c4/видео.html
0:43 Is this the same door where Paul and Quinns waited for X:Wing Miniatures packages? Is everyone in England living in the same house??
No. It's just that everyone in Londonland has one of those slots, and lives on the second floor of a duplex.
The answer is pretty much yes. A lot of the houses have a similar facade, mainly the ones by the side of the road. That reflects on the doors. Google for "UK house style" and you'll have an idea.
He knows too much...
England is pretty much 1 house but lots of stairs. The Queen lives in a different house. Wales is pretty much hills (think of the beacon lighters in LOTR) Scotland is a swap and gnat infested waste zone (slightly damp mad max)
@@fuzzlemacfuzz I stayed wirh a family in Newport Pagnell once and marveled at how narrow the staircase was. American staircases allow for two people to pass each other in opposite directions. In that UK house, to pass the other person, you'd have to be very thin and very well-acquainted with the other person. lol
God damn Tom's crushing it! Well done, Man!
Its safe to say that Tom has found the SUSD review 'style' Its great fun watching his reviews evolve as the others did over the first two seasons. I can't say I'm tempted by every game they review, but I can happily say that I wait with anticipation for every review video they release.
I was thinking while watching it "This is the MOST SU&SD review I've seen in years".
Tom, this is so so good, you're an absolute natural! Fits so well into everything that we all love about SUSD. The start of this had me bursting out laughing! Game sounds great too, thanks! :)
1:40 Nick's son oh boy I just let my guard down and bam!
As a die-hard Twilight Struggle fan, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is almost like a TS gateway game, between the cards used for events or ops, the tug of war over resources, and even the theme. Really tremendous game.
I just got the digital version steam and am loving it
@@spyrodragonsbane3076 Bought the digital version as well on sale...but...I am slowly inching closer to buying the full game + expansion...but I don't know whether I'll be able to convince people to play the game enough to get it. Maybe I'll try it with Watergate first (which costs like a third here).
Came here to say 'So, Twilight Struggle Lite then?' Happy to find this here already! :D
That outro sequence reminds me of old Shut Up and Sit Down and . . . that’s . . . good?
Guys i cannot recommend this game enough! play it with everyone, show it to everyone. Its a game ive taught to many people recently on TTS and everyone loves it. Its also fun to watch and can have some holy crap moments and plays in just the right amount of time.
Seconded, it is FANTASTIC
Just another comment to reiterate what a great job Tom has done here - excellent stuff!
10:03 I don't play boardgames super often, but I watch SUSD because I see a little of myself in them. Thanks for saying that Tom.
"Nick's son's" I died.
that intro was absolutely amazing
if I was ever still on the fence about tom he is now officially susd material
Tom:
me: Is this negging?
Ok, but can we talk about all the puns I missed? And how this is now my favorite intro? I'm loving Tom Radcliffe more and more.
I like the folding back the game into the box while talking, nice touch
7:41
I like that Tom is actually playing against actual Richard Nixon 😄
oh my god i wasn't sure about the whole water gate / nick's son joke but when tom said "legally ratifying the need for his organs to be outside his body" i just burst into laughter. bless you.
Solid game drips with theme. Even if you're not into the history of it the back and forth game play is great. This one definitely gets a taco!
Like Twilight Struggle, but shorter.
@@jesseclark7105 Old comment, sorry. But 13 Days is like Twilight Struggle but shorter (and better, sorry TS fans). Watergate is like 13 days with a different shape of battlefield and 2 decks.
I like the intro so much. Honestly, i learned more about this game in 11 minutes than the Dicebreaker review/play
I am very glad to have Tom part of SU&SD. A great addition and a great video :)
I learn so much about American history from these games. Thanks SUSD!
This was incredibly funny, good work! Absolutely lost my shit at Nicholas Watergate and the way he then pronounced Nixon lol.
No no, it was Nick's son, not Nixon. The son of Nicholas Watergate.
Sharing this to my friends strictly off the basis of the intro. Hopefully that will watch the entire video and enjoy. Great job Tom!
Great video! I loved the nick's son dam thing at the beginning having not heard about the game i was pleasantly confused if this was a game about dams or Nixon for a good portion of the intro. One comment is that the text at the end was covered up by the recommended video cards.
Great job, Tom! You're such a great addition to SU&SD!
I’ve had my eye on this game for a while, and when I saw this I thought I might have missed an old video, but I am pleasantly surprised
Fucking busting a gut with that Gods damned Nixon bit, keep up the great work
Brilliant, informative, funny and passionate... You truly have SUSD blood running through your veins! Thanks Tom. 👍
Whilst I really love the personality and comedic creativity you brought to the review, in the spirit of trying to be constructively helpful: I think the core skeleton of how you win and play the game got fragmented and lost in all the metaphor, making the rest of the explanation difficult to contextualise. I could have really used a concise and unadorned strutural summary right at the start E.g. "Each turn you're playing cards from your hand to win tokens from this track or place informants on the board from this pool. If you win a red token, you put it on your board here and if Nixon wins 5 of those, he wins the game. If you win an evidence token you play it on the board like this, and if the press manage to connect two informants to Nixon's portrait doing that, they win the game."
One of the funniest reviews I've ever watched. Of anything. Ever.
Top job son. I’m proud of you
Fantastic video! Great work Tom and everyone involved.
0:30 Me for the past three months
Excellent review, you show a lot more emotion in your presentation, you're getting good at this!
Man, you`re really funny. You are a great addition for a channel I love. Good Job!
Nothing makes me feel the need to rewrite an entire video script like watching a Shut Up & Sit Down video! A fine video!
I was NOT expecting that death grips reference
3:33 that sound effect is used in a song from Lisa: The Painful RPG. And then he refers to it as a "white nugget of joy," where Joy is a fictional drug in that game that everyone becomes addicted to. 🤔👀👀🤔
wow, layers
Except, it itself is a sample from Shenmue 2. ruclips.net/video/F-AXuqkL7WQ/видео.html, also has a white chick called Joy.
Had to watch the intro 3 times in a row. Because it is just that good. Keep it up!
The game's title card wasn't even shown yet, and I got excited (Hollow Knight!) and laughed (at the, err, delivery). Amazing work Tom!
Damn... I like Tom's reviewing style! SUSD gets better and better!!! Glad to be a monthly donor... the best board game channel there is.
Amazing video!! Tom, you have an amazing sense of humor.
One of the best videos I've seen from SUSD. Hilarious and cleanly executed.
What a great idea/basis for a game, might well have to check this one out. Great video chum !
Tom! You're a star. And I don't mean it as a self-luminous gaseous spheroidal celestial body
Omg, that intro was amazing. And the review was small and delightful. And so was Tom? Yes!
This was a great review--really enjoyed it! Well done Tom! (And probably Quinns and Matt, but mostly Tom!)
brilliant man! well done, excellent writing, very funny and informative! kudos!
I never expected this kind of chaotic energy from a SUSD review!
Definitely agree that tabletop sim is a good way to do "check-ins." I tried War Chest w/ a friend the other day and it was perfect as a background activity for a conversation.
"Nick's sons" ... You are fantastic
Thats the first time i clicked on a video 12 seconds after Upload and it makes me happy
It’s been a long time since I laugh this much at one of these!
So have my seal of approval “It is Good”
0:07 death grips reference?
This was my first thought: "Is he quoting a Death Grips song?"
Time to listen to Spread Eagle again.
MY FIRST THOUGHT TOO
yuhhhh
As someone who lived with Tom for a year at uni, definitely a death grips reference.
I really liked this review. I feel silly for saying this but I'm slowly warming to "the new guy" as part of SU&SD😅 I guess it takes time for me to accept new people into the fold😅 keep up the good work Tom!
Best into ever. And I've never written this as a comment for anything before, ever!
That intro was gold. And don't worry, Tom. We've all been there. They don't call him 'Tricky Dicky' for nothing. hhhwink
Nice Volca FM in the background. 😊 The game looks fun, too. Another fine review from the new talent!
Goodness Tom, that was powerful.
I think Tom has gotten so much better!! Some of his early videos were at times a bit awkward, but now he is killing it!!!
Damn you SU&SD! You make me laugh so damn much. Thank you for this review!
Oh wow, brushing my teeth and watching this was a bad idea...Nicholas Watergate almost got me.
Don't let the tech keep you down man. Manual focus and peaking are your friends. Also, another great video!
+1 for Tom. America for Tom. Also, Quins. Still love Quins. Matt's fine too. I don't dislike Matt, but if you make me rank them...I mean, why would anybody rank another human. That's really mean. I like SUSD. This comment got out of hand.
Good lord Tom, you've hit your stride something fierce with this review. Incredible work!
The battery died before he could finish... It was planted I say! IT'S ALL A QUINNSPIRACY!
That cupboard made me feel anxious. Great joke.....it was a joke right? Right?
The intro and the 'Game Name" gave me Paul's solo review vibes.
Brilliant review.
Omg, that was hilarious! Great job Tom!
This is an incredible review. Wow.
this is how i knew i would i love this review
0:58, This man, Nicholas Watergate
thank you SUSD for always being fun
Loving these solo reviews Tom, although I'm kind of disappointed the Quiet Year effigy didn't make a reappearance wearing a Nixon outfit. Keep it up
The great goof generator, outdoing itself, everytime.
well done Tom. Thought you were going to do a Dragon Tomb's like spoof there by the intro :).
0.08 death grips has entered chat
Tom really turned it up to 11 for this intro
But you'll have a bit of a hard time convincing the publisher to use your new badge on their box
Wow a sneaky Korg Volca FM in the background. I love it :D 1:48
1:15 I'm already in stitches
Yay more Tom!
This looks similar in feel to Twilight Struggle, except quicker to learn and play. Very crunchy and some strategies look similar (e.g. the threat of a card sometimes being worse than playing it), as well as also being based on real events, so it's great to see another game in such a unique genre.
Tom is totally TOTALLY rocking it. Keep that man.
this was fantastic
Another great video from Tom. Keep it up! :)
I almost spat out my tea at 11:03 hahahahahahahhahaha
I loved the Nick's son joke.
Bought this game at GenCon 2019, love it, the demonstrators did a great job showcasing the back-and-forth tension. And for us history nerds, the whole second half of the manual is details about the actual Watergate scandal. I must play this again tonight.
Having recently played Watergate, this review is spot on.
I like this new boy, upping Up the game
Tom is so good!
4:03
If there were no pears already, but the pears increased by 100%, there would still be no pears. Technically it's now with "infinitely more pears".
Yes, that is all I have taken away from this video.
Then you have taken away the most important lesson: Nick’s son cannot be trusted. He’s a sly fox.
I like how his desktop wallpaper is a picture of John krazinski
I really enjoyed the parody of LGR in the intro at 0:13
Such a confident first video. 10/10
