    Well I can't tell you how glad I am to find you working on an XI instead of just a rear wheel drive!! That what my car is and there's almost nothing on the net on the X drive N54's! As well you obviously have a lot more experience with up graded turbos than I so I hope to learn a few things from your well done videos. I have only had my 17T's (Ebay) installed for about 9 months on my 2008 335XI Sedan. Right out the gate I have had troubles with boost leaks and squealing or whining or "Turkey and Duck" sounds from air leaking out of unknown places. I haven't even been able to move beyond a "Safe tune" to a full proper tune because I haven't been able to figure out what the heck is happening. I replaced almost everything on the car as soon as I bought it because I didn't want to go through what I'm going through with chasing ghosts. LOL. This is my second 335i and I got it for dirt cheap ($1500 USD) due to high mileage (180,00miles) a history of two accidents but it was professionally repaired and a blown wheel bearing, bad HPFP and then all the maintenance these babies require. Anyway I won't continue to bore you with my troubles but I must admit I am a bit happy to find you and your channel. I'm just about to install the ARM upgraded silicone hoses for the charge pipe to the intercooler and the outlet. Hopefully this may help my troubles but if not I'll move on to the next possibility. "Swap Depot" YT channel told me his "Duck sounds" on one of his new n54 cars were caused by a leaking outlet so I guess I'll look into that after installing the ARM hoses. Subbed, Bell rung!

      Hey! I feel your struggle with the lack of xi information on RUclips and the internet. Everyone makes it seem like turbo installs are so easy, but most of them work on rwd cars! Even my buddies with N54 brag about how easy it all is and I'm over here struggling over a whole weekend hahaha
      But yeah I would definitely recommend doing a boost leak test, there's plenty of diy options out there to plug your air intake and the. Add some compressed air into it. The words you use squealing and whining really make me hope it's nothing internal (rod bearings) or anything. I also replaced my belt and pulleys, helped quiet things down. Best of luck! Thanks for the sub!

      @@jku392adventure I didn't expect you to actually see my post AND answer! THANK YOU! The date (Or now just time since commented boo) shows it was two months ago that I commented so where I'm at now is that the leaks have been hunted down and destroyed and I'm finally actually installing the set of "ARM MOTOR SPORTS" Upgraded silicone intercooler to charge pipe tubing. (That's a mouthful lol). I wrote about in the previous comment. They are a massive upgrade and I'm planning to get another custom tune on the car with the 17T turbkis and the 3.5 pressure sensor installed this time and the upgraded piping from ARM should be an insane boost blast! I'm looking to safely (Hopefully lol) run 600hp or so with all the mods I have now and the engine is running strong. I have a new to me used set of Injectors now too which have made a big improvement in the running and power. I just took a break as I do my work on the XI one step at a time. I'll go out spend an hour doing the work or even less then take a break and have a drink or watch a video etc. Then when i feel I'm all good I go back to the garage and do another round.

      @BMW1M Год назад +1

      @@jku392adventure That is something you need to discuss with your tuner, because it's not just a single, magic number. An experienced tuner will know how to control and ramp in boost to mitigate the most common failure modes.
      Cracked ringlands and bents rods usually happen due to too much torque low down in the rev range. Even 17T's can pop a stock motor from too much torque if not tuned correctly. Lifted heads usually comes from just pushing boost too far. 17T's won't worry your head bolts, but bigger twins like the 19T's and flowmax's certainly can make enough jam for it to be an issue.
