  • This week go through the entire rebuild process from picking up the car to the the price reveal in ONE video! We bought this red Solstice GXP that we thought only had some minor rear end damage and no key. After further investigation, we found out that it had frame damage, a timing chain slap, and the dirtiest interior we’ve ever seen. Can we bring this one back from the brink? Hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for watching!

    Great video. I have repaired several salvage vehicles and what irritates me the most is the public and now insurance companies perception of repaired vehicles. Especially older cars where the actual damage required to total them is less than a new one. I can't sell one I have for the life of me, even if I lower the price below my cost.

      The whole world of rebuilds has changed in the last few years. We used to be able to buy a salvage title car, buy OEM parts, fix it up, and sell it and still make “decent” money. Nowadays we hope to break even.

      give a cheap car, that is cheap to fix, reliable, and already has a bunch of dents on it. Keep the sky for yourself, and keep it in the garage.

    Wow, that's a long build for you. I can understand putting that rebuild into one video. In the end you saved another beautiful car that was worth the time and effort. The Solstice keeps going up in price especially the GXPs so I think you'll do okay with it.

    Another excellent video. FWIW, a few folks have cut an exhaust outlet into the single exhaust valance when going to a dual exhaust system. Yes it's a bubba approach, but as you found out finding GXP exhaust valances has become difficult. Another option is NormsFiberglass who offers a few different fiberglass exhaust valances. Though he is known to take awhile to finish projects due to be a small operation, and he amount of orders he receives. Regardless, looks great.

    • @rebuildit
      @rebuildit  3 месяца назад +1

      If I remember correctly, the muffler was pushed forward when the bumper was hit and caused the exhaust pipe to vibrate against the undercarriage. I think I pulled it back out with a hoist.
