      That only works on adam, though. Since some sinners, that we have already seen, seem to think themselfs to be in the right to do what they did (for example the dude from Ohio in the helluva boss pilot, who couldn't comprehent, why he got executed for "lovingly killing his wife")

      Catholics, for one, define sin as intentional and willing rejection of the love of God. (Essentially breaking his rules, but also denouncing him, for example)
      Since Adam was unaware, in Catholic understanding he would be sinless, moreso fully sinless since he wasn't struck by the primordial sin. (Though he should also be immortal in that case, since the primordial sin is supposed to be what makes humans mortal(

      That's a possibility. Though it really depends on what the show considers to be the rules of heaven, and I don't think it's anything we really have in irl Christianity. Mostly because of the kids in cannibal town. Pretty much all Christian denominations have the concept of an "age of accountability" where before a certain age you cannot be held accountable for sin because you aren't aware that you're committing a sin. In some branches too, there's a rule that if somebody forces you to sin, then it's on them not on you. But since there's kids in hell, I don't think any irl rules apply to the show

    This is kinda terrifying in terms of heaven. If believing in your actions based on whatever sins you may or may not have committed is what determines whether you manifest in heaven or hell, learning about that could cause a massive shift in souls. People who generally believed themselves to be good based solely on the fact that they manifested in heaven will be largely forced to reconsider since if a soul can remanifest in heaven by the belief that they can be redeemed, it may very well be possible to remanifest in hell after dying in heaven. This could even turn into a massive problem as now certain people who may have developed beef over the years, believing that they are stuck with one another could potentially bully someone out of heaven should they belittle them enough to make the other think they deserve damnation.

    Pentious' ascension does raise many questions. Obviously, the big one is if one can die redeemed in Hell and wind up in Heaven, then can the reverse be true? But also, how many times can this happen? Can a soul just go from one to the other indefinitely, or is there actually a limit to how often they can change realms? 🤔

    • @dietotaku
      @dietotaku 10 месяцев назад +21

      i think it wouldn't make a lot of sense for someone to believe themselves fit for hell, be redeemed *and* killed (necessary to remanifest in either realm), ascend to heaven, then turn back around and revert to total scumbag and be killed *again* just to remanifest back in hell. if there is some outside influence determining who goes where, then it's probably one round trip max - so adam could potentially remanifest in hell and have to actually redeem himself and be killed again in order to get back into heaven, but i don't see anyone who started out in hell and made it to heaven ending up back in hell again, much less "redeeming" themselves AGAIN to get back to heaven.

    To me, I don’t think Sir Pentious knew he’d actually get into Heaven based on how surprised he was. He may have believed in Charlie’s dream and gave redemption a chance, but he mainly was happy to have a safe place where he had friends, could be vulnerable and didn’t need to constantly try to conquer in order to prove himself, so him defending the hotel was him genuinely just trying to do what he could to save the hotel and his friends; he definitely didn’t think he was going to come back since he kissed Cherri Bomb and confessed his feelings.❤
    If you are right about belief coming into play and that empathetic people are more likely to go to Hell for even minor things they feel bad about, that would be really tragic.😢

  • @dietotaku

    i love this theory SO MUCH because it ties in to what i see as the preponderance of scientific evidence of how the "afterlife" actually works in reality. a few things we know for empirical fact, based on studying people who have had near-death experiences and been clinically dead for varying amounts of time: (1) as the brain dies, one's perception of the passage of time stretches out. 10 seconds feels like, say, 10 minutes, 10 minutes feels like 10 days, an hour feels like 10 years, and so on into infinity; (2) to alleviate or distract oneself from the pain and terror of dying, the brain generates hallucinations which seem to be almost entirely based on one's expectations of what will happen next. hence, people see visions of departed loved ones, and experience a glimpse of whatever kind of afterlife they expect they are headed for (most people see heaven, naturally, but a few people have reported visions of *hell* and, once revived, unburdened their souls of whatever guilt they were feeling for their transgressions).
    so in this sense you see how the overwhelming majority of people in "hell" fit a stereotype of people who "belong" there; alastor was a serial killer cannibal who probably practiced voodoo, where else would he expect to go? adam and lute perfectly represent the kind of belligerently religious person who is not only convinced that they're going to heaven despite their abhorrent behavior but BECAUSE of it, they believe they are exerting "god's will on earth" and will be rewarded for their cruelty. and so they go where they expected to go and continue on as they always have. meanwhile because it's actually all a hallucination, no soul is actually trapped anywhere so long as they believe there is a way out. even the souls killed by angelic weapons still re-manifest in hell, just in a different form because that is what they have been told happens. once pentious is convinced that redemption is possible, that's exactly what happens to him when he confesses his feelings and puts his life on the line to defend his friends. his mortal brain is *still dying* at this point, but the time dilation and hallucinations have influenced his subconscious expectations and so he "re-manifests in heaven."

    BTW I think the reason (Hazbin) Adam is in Heaven is because unlike Eve and his real life counterpart he never ate the fruit of knowledge their for never been capable of fully comprehending the difference between good and evil so I highly doubt going into Heaven or H*ll is a choice in the Hazbin-verse

    I dunno. Sir Pentious didn’t seem like he considered himself destined to Heaven when he wound up there in utter confusion. My guess is that he unknowingly found the path of redemption after he apologized to Charlie, made legit friends out of the hotel staff and confessed his true feelings to Cherry, hereby dropping the thing that kept him anchored to Hell.
    The only reason that Adam was allowed into Heaven, it seems, is due to his position as the first mortal man. Either Heaven made a special exception of him because of his circumstances, or there’s also the possibility that the opposite with Sir Pentious can happen in Heaven - that a Winner’s soul could wind up becoming corrupt and could become ‘fallen’.
    Either way, the enigmatic power behind this system is what intrigues me. It seems like it’s conscious of people’s actions since it brought Sir Pentious to Heaven without his knowledge, and yet the angels don’t seem to know the exact rules. Given that God is noticeably absent in the series, I suspect that he is either behind this system or he is the one who put it in place, and in his absence, the angels in charge are unaware of how it operates.

    The one big wrench in the theory of Sir Pentious CHOOSING to go to Heaven is that the very last thing he did was wage war against Heaven while defending his home in Hell.
    On top of that, Sir Pentious didn't wake up at the pearly gates. He got dropped right into Sera's and Emily's living room. Almost as if whatever cosmic force sent him to Heaven wanted to make sure, not just that he got in, but that the person most likely to oppose his entry knew damn well that it was for real and not to be questioned.
    I think there is a greater power, and I'll even go the extra mile and say that Hell is an intentional (or at least accepted after the fact) component of the grand design, both so that Heaven can exist in contrast as opposed to just in ignorance, and so that sinners -- even if only a very rare few -- can be molded by all the trials of Hell into angels most powerful (or at least the most durable) than have ever been seen before.
    So... Yeah, I'm accepting a "greater power" narrative. Though I suspect it will have to be one that Sera and co. will have to accept will go completely unseen and remain unknowable except in these exceptionally rare of instances.

    I have an alternative idea: I think Adam put Sir Pentious into heaven unintentionally through killing him. Hear me out: hell is the final chance for souls that due to various sins fail to go to heaven. When they manage to redime themselves in hell through a selfless act of love they go to heaven when killed by an exorist otherwise they die for good. It could also be that they need to meet certain criteria decided by the angles and you could argue that Sir Pentious through his sacrifise checked Adam's list. This would also explain why no demon before him manifested in heaven after being killed by the angles, there were no such list.

    The theory may make sense. Sinners are forever bound to reside in only the Pride ring after dying and going to Hell. And some of them shown did show negative qualities such as narcissism and arrogance, which are relating traits to the bad side of pride. But for others, like our main cast, were pretty apathetic-driving themselves deeper into their wrong choices and accepting their fates in Hell. Sir Pentious was once bad in life since he devoted himself to villainy. He wasn't that prideful in a sense, but rather he wanted to paint himself as a person committed into doing bad things. Before he self-sacrificed himself to save everyone, we see changes in his character where he's slowly breaks away from his negative qualities and accepts good ones

They didn't necessarily choose to be there over heaven but they were trapped in hell because of how they felt about their past actions/lives, that they deserve to be there. So I don't think it is a stretch to say the hell in this universe can work that way as well. I enjoy this theory

    Personally, I think it’s actually about change. The show is putting a lot of emphasis on how people grow and change. This is also a big conversation that needs to be had about a lot of prisons and is very relevant to today’s world - especially in America. There are prisons increasing the prisoners on death row, because the prisons are too full. Rehabilitation is near impossible due to the marks left on their records - keeping former convicts from getting jobs and forcing them to return to crime to survive. Is it fair to imprison someone for something they did fifty years ago - even after they’ve changed and show no sign of doing anything like that again? What even is a prison really trying to accomplish? Is it punishment, containment, or justice? When does justice become revenge and cruelty? What happens when the lawmakers are breaking the laws? When the prisons to protect humanity are inhumane to those within? How do you hold everyone accountable, maintain a civil society, and keep it all fair without destabilizing everything?
    Especially since there are often complicated situations like Angel Dust’s. Like, really, did he ever have a true chance to be better? He’s clearly been abused by a lot of people for a long time. I suspect that he just truly was stuck in abusive situations during his entire life and afterlife. Charlie tried to help him get out and Valentino actually hurt him for it. At that point, is it even his choice anymore if he’s being threatened into it? Then again, he does still fight people, but usually it seems to be in response to something else. What I’m trying to say is… Angel Dust has done bad things, but I don’t think he really has a choice. His wellbeing is at risk here. Also, despite what he may say, Angel Dust is very clearly choosing the Hotel to try and get out of his situation. He took the initiative to change and it’s… honestly impressive.
    I think that’s where Hazbin Hotel is going with this. I think it’s going to tie back to a lot of the arguments about the debates on the morality of prisons and rehabilitation vs punishment. I bet Pentious’s experience in Heaven is going to mirror some of the issues people may deal with in the aftermath of facing jail time. I wonder if at least one character will hop from hell to heaven to hell as a result of what they experience in heaven?
    Tldr: I think the show might be giving commentary on the prison system.

    • @rachelmr24
      @rachelmr24 9 месяцев назад

      So the argument Hazbin Hotel seems to be pushing is that people can change and we should aim for rehabilitation rather than punishment.

  • @blackhagalaz

    This theory is very intersting, though i suppose we would need to see more narcicistic people in heaven to prove that point. It seems to me that Adam only really is in heaven because he was the first man, and I dont think any other people like him would ever make it to heaven. If they did heaven would be another place. I also dont think that it is as simple as being good or bad, because the whole core Idea of the show is that people can be both, and its not always one or the other.
    What i rather think is that you will get to heaven if your soul is without burden and struggle. "Purer" so to speak. What we have seen from heaven so far in the form of mortal sinners that went to heaven, seem to be more peacefully naive in nature. Sera, adam and the exorcists are different, because sera is of course more ancient and wise then mortals could ever be. Adam would have a "pass" because he was the first human (the angels wouldnt really like to admit that he was f*cked up from the start), and the exorcist are also just mere mortal souls who seem to be hand-picked and corrupted by adam.
    The other mortal souls who we saw so far seemed to be sheepishly peacefull (this could still change of course). People that are just so "on the nose" good and pure that it would be very difficult to find anything remotely "bad" in their character. These could be people who mostly lived a sheltered life and always followed the rule. People who never went astray, where never "tempted" by seductions born from evil, like drugs etc. People who never knew violence or trauma during their life. Or people who where simply to naive and innocent to go to hell. Like the majority of kids for example. This would explain why the ony kids we see seem to primarily live in canibal town. They went to hell because they did something morily bad, like eating another person. But a kid does not just become a cannibal like that, but likely just did so to survive or was fed by an adult. Otherwise they would be mostly innocent. Of course kids could also suffer other "sins" like drug abuse, so maybe we will see more "sinner-kids" in the future linked to these sins. But mostly i recon that most traumatized kids wouldnt be blamed for the stuff they encountered and would end up in heaven.
    Adulds on the other hand would may be given a more moral responsibility for their actions, so even if lifes circumstances forced them to, sell/take drugs, use violence or kill someone, they would be held more acountable then kids would. Anyhow it seems that people in hell, even though they might be a good person overall, get send there because of destructive behavior, trauma and other things they cant let go of. And as long as they cant let go of it or refuse to let go of it they would stay in hell until they can. Its like finding enlightenment. So i believe what send Pentious to heaven was the fact that he could finally let go of all his wrongdoings. We saw him genuinely apologize, better himself, leave old habits behind (episode about trust), and instead found something else that he could live for. He could let go of his past and finally be pure of heart and intention, which is was let him to heaven after he died.
    So i think hell is literally like rehab for souls. If you can withstand temptation of your past mistakes, and those who want to take advantage of you (via soul contracts for example), then you could decent into heaven once you worked on yourself enough. That also said: it seems like pentious was all in all a very lonely character at the start of the season. He bugged people because he wanted their attention, not of evil motives. But because he found friends and people who genuienly cared for him, he fullfilled his own pure hearts wish and let go of the trauma of feeling lonely.

    It's an interesting idea, and suggests all the Overlords were people that took to heart the idea, "it is better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven." I would hope that there is some accountability concerning mortal sins, and many of them possibly not existing when Adam died, since he was probably the first mortal to do so. Perhaps we'll get a better idea if any of the Exterminators reform in Hell instead of Heaven after this battle. Something that no one really thought about during the battle, though, is that Sir Pentious wasn't killed with Angelic Steel, so he should have reformed anyway -- even if it was just back in Hell. The Exterminators very specifically need to use their weapons to permanently kill the immortal souls populating the Pride Ring.

    Honestly i can see it being based off your mindset when you die. If you live a very sinful life and dont feel youre worthy of or even want to go to heaven they end up in hell. Like the first episode of Helluva boss. The teacher very much couldve gone to heaven had she not given into her wrath, killed her cheating husband then off herself. Had she risen above her rage she wouldve been perfect to ascend and become an angel when she dies naturally. It could explain why Adam is in Heaven despite his episode and personality. He felt he deserved that spot and probably felt him being the first human made him holier than everyone else so he gets into heaven

  • @darkhelliadarkfire6109
    @darkhelliadarkfire6109 10 месяцев назад +1

    There's also this theory that Adam might not have truly died and recieved judgement as a human. The theory is supported by the fact that all the souls in both heaven and hell have animalistic traits, the ones in hell are given traits they hate, while the ones in heaven are given forms they like. The only human like beings in heaven seem to be either natural heavenborn like Emily and Sera, the exorcists like Lute or Adam who never takes off his mask while in heaven because he still appears human. Adam also has one trait different to Sara, Emily and Lute, he still has his human ears while the three female angels don't have ears at all, at least not visibly. My theory is that after Adam and Eve did their duty on earth, making more humans, Adam was brought straight up to heaven, this would lead Cain to eventually kill Abel becomming the world's first Murderer who could very well be Zestial since he's the oldest Overlord. But yeah Adam never died a human death, was never truly judged, was brought to heaven and turned into an angel and had to wear his exorcist mask 24/7 otherwise the souls in heaven would know something was up. So when Adam's mask eventually broke during his fight with Lucifer in hell, then he was stabbed to death by Niffty, is fair to think he might come back as a sinner since now he's actually died for the first time and was finally judged and deemed unfit for heaven. It would make sense, especially if Sera was trying to save face and get Adam into heaven despite him not being fit for heaven at all, he's her dirty little secret.

    I disagree. Sir Pentious clearly made improvements in his life. If anything I think the condition for arriving in Heaven is not having self destructive or destructive to others behavior. Viv doesn't focus on sin. Instead her stories revolve around characters mental well being. The people in Hell are there literally and metaphorically.
    The issues Pentious appeared to be dealing with was mostly social anxiety and socialization issues. This was something that could be addressed with Charlie's 50 million watt positivity approach. She accepted Pentious. He had never been part of a social group. And because things were on the speed run setting he quick stepped through his improvement. Because the people of the hotel accept him and they give him advice on how to connect to others. This was compared to others such as Angeldust a relatively easier path. Thus he found his way to wellness and because he had developed empathy for others he was able to perform a truly altruistic act. Thus he moved to Heaven.
    Adam I suspect is in Heaven because he never ate the Apple. The lore only mentions Eve eating the Apple. Because of this, whether it was original sin or some other mechanism, he got a free pass while Eve went to Hell (hence the reason she is missing in action). Adam also did not learn about Good and Evil because he never ate the Apple. This is why when he said he had never done anything wrong he is technically correct. Because he does not know what is wrong.
    As to Carmilla I am pretty sure she is a fallen high order Angel. I suspect she was the armorer of Heaven. And when she found out what her weapons were being used for she rejected it and fell as a result. Evidence for this is the color pallet of the Angels in Hell. She is virtually the same color pallet as Vaggie. She is an expert in Angelic weapons. And there is multiple connections to Vaggie. Vaggie sings more duets with Carmilla than with Charlie. Carmilla becomes her mentor because she knows how Angels fight. Its not because she was fighting them all the time. She clearly stated that she expected she would never have to have blood on her hands. She knows how Angels fight because she was the armorer and had to know fighting to understand how to make the best weapons for the task. And of course there is the fact that she has her children with her in Hell. Sinners cannot have children. And while it is possible if she was human for her daughters to wind up in Hell as well we don't really see sinner family units tied that close together. I suspect Carmilla met a Hellborn and fell in Love only to lose him after his children were born.
    And the final clue to her being an Angel comes from the Pilot (admittedly not canon any longer but still indicative of intent). In the opening of the pilot we see Carmilla, Zestial, and Lucifer (as well as the large Dinogirl who's name I am blanking on) bunkered down for the Extermination. Lucifer's primary issue is that he lost faith in Humanity. He hates the sinners. He left them to the execution as he just does not care about them any longer. He would not bunker down with sinners. I think we were shown the nonsinner Overlords in that shot. Carmilla a fallen higher order Angel, Zestial a Hellborn Lovecraftian Demon, and Dinogirl another form of Hellborn Demon).

    The I don't think Sir Pentous choose heaven. There is a mystery, a process outside Heaven and Hell. That decides who goes where when they die. They also mentioned this process, is called "Divine Judgement". But Neither demons nor angels know how it works.
    A theory I have is that every time a sinner "die" in hell, he receives a new divine Judgement, but since most of them don't do anything to redeem themselves, they simply remanifest again in Hell. Sir Pentous being the only soul to die, not by an angelic weapon, and doing something selfless and good received a new divine judgement that took him to heaven. What do you think?

      The issue With that, Is that The only Person who Could satisfyingly Pass judgement, Without heaven Knowing, would Be god.
      Viv said They aren't Going to Bring them Into the Series, so There wouldn't Be a Satisfying result In that Regard.
      Otherwise, there Needs to Be some Form of "People get Sent to Hell by Their own Will" or, Ones actions Are directly Linked to Where they Go, without A specific Judge.

      @@dr.blockcraft6633 I don't think God is the "Only one" that could pass divine judgement, but certainly neither the demons nor the angels do.
      Even if Divine Judgment is the most mysterious mystery in the show, is one that doesn't matter at all. Because the show is not about how they receive divine judgement, but what happens after they receive it. Its just a piece in a system we don't see clearly,
