    You should have mentioned why these modules usually go faulty. The over priced pieces of German tat fill up with water where the module sits and totally immerses the module. It also screws the CAN Bus on the vehicle making the dash flash and carry on like a set of disco lights amongst the numerous other faults it flags with the diagnostic. Good video, good thought process. Very helpful.

      Yeah apparently it never rains in Germany so BMW put the most important and expensive modules in the lowest parts of the car where water would collect. I'm guessing the marketing department made that decision. Absolutely absurd design of these cars. So far from pure driving pleasure. Had mine a few months and there are daily issues. The most unreliable machine I've ever owned and I've had British cars.

    • @Wiizl
      @Wiizl 2 года назад +1

      Yep, mine also failed because as the mechanic said it was "swimming in water"

    Excellent inspection and video. It worth mentioning that the BMW catalog gives the exact part number needed by the vehicle (searching by VIN then verifying the option codes). For this very problem you can also find out easily where the speakers are located. (Glad you found out by yourself). Thanks!

    Ok, just so people know.
    Cars built before ‘07 and fitted with business radio will have acoustic generators installed. Vehicle fitted with professional radios will have PDC sound through the speakers. Even though you can code an LCI PDC control unit to a version that uses acoustic generators they will not function and the PDC will report Internal control unit and acoustic generator faults. This is because the software in the PDC does not match the coding and creates a checksum error which will be returned as an internal control unit fault. Which is why the faults were logged.
    If you ever want to change the PDC, the part number must be cross referred.

I own a 1 series e87 116i m sport and I'm going to fit a new stereo system but I need to buy the correct harness to use it so that I can operate it using the steering wheel buttons etc. I'm being told now though that there are two versions of this harness, one to use if the pdc beeping comes through stereo speakers and one if it does not. Does anybody know if the parking sensor beeping comes out independent speakers OR the actual stereo speakers on the e87 m sport? Cheers

      Yes, agree with that one... It all depends what you want it for...
      For city driving, definitely something small, economical and practical, I am myself in the market for one...
      For the "Sunday" ride, you might want something more comfortable, if you want to have 2 cars obviously...
      I personally, like BMW, for that's a personal choice...
      French cars are not too bad, but they go wrong quite easily...
