Jr Pickett, I recently came across this video and want to let you know it was very helpful in fixing the issue I was having. My check engine light was on. (PO456) without this video I never would have found the location of this thing. So thank you.

Thx for the vid. Had p0441 code too. I also replaced gas cap. Remember to disconnect neg terminal on battery for 5 mins or so after replacing to get rid of chk engine light!!

Always make sure to disconnect your negative battery terminal before you start any work on your vehicle, especially work that involves electrical connectors. If you have an OBD2 reader You can use that to reset the code as well. Or you can just drive the car for a couple of drive cycles and let the car figure it out for itself 👍

Thanks for the video. I would like to make one comment. I tried using a flat screwdriver to remove the side hose, but was not successful. Also, I was worried about damaging hose to the point where if this was not the leak point if would be now. Instead, I just grabbed the small S shaped hose and twisted the entire purge valve body around 360 degrees thereby easily breaking the hose set. Then I pulled the VALVE away from the hose, (Not the other way around), while firmly holding the S-hose. Much simpler imo. Thanks again for the video. I cleared my P0456 code on my 2012 Town and Country and we'll see if the error comes back. If so, off to the mechanic but it was worth a 28 dollar gamble to try to fix it myself before heading to the shop.

I just changed mine on my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L It is in the same place, as is the one in my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.6L Very easy 15 minute change. Do not force anything. The plastic clips can be easily broken and then you have to buy a whole new van. Maybe new connections will do, but to make sure, I'd just buy a new van.

Does a check engine light typically come on for a bad EVAP purge solenoid or can it occur without a code? My code reader is showing 60% for the EVAP with throttle open. I was of the understanding that the valve is either 100% open or closed?

    • @jrpickett6392

Yes, a check engine light then I checked the code and started digging. Sorry for the late response.

A MAGIC issue is that Pickett DID NOT take the connectors off in demo. It's important because one trying to RIP off the solenoid valve in attempting to take each connector off can damage the cabling, the locking mechanism or the part itself. It's CRUCIAL to show how each part is dismantled from the solenoid itself. Talking about it is only half the story.

@@zachis89 What is the average shoe size and would that be in ladies shoes or men's shoes? Does one need to take into account the width of said shoe? Also, will that be in standard measurements or metric?

Hope you get the message, what prompted you to change out the solenoid? Were you getting a check engine warning and an error code? I have been getting a recurring error code of P0441 and changing out the solenoid is listed as a possible solution.
