The problem isn't that he's living with his parents at 30. Plenty of people have had to do that to save money since rent is absolutely insane right now. But he doesn't do chores, or pay rent, or contribute financially to the household. Which is just really shitty.
Welp. What i saw from this is. That's an annoying way to say "you're a mistake and an accident". Real parents won't do this to their child. Let alone dragging them to court and make it for all america to see how worse they are. Isn't this their parents fault too? how long did they let him go this way for so long?

This was me once. 100%, I was not raised by my parents and flat out neglected. Now I support myself, but they flat out never raised me. Video games and TV raised me. Parents struggle to understanding raising your kids is more then just feeding them and giving them a room. His parents failed him and it's extremely common in America right now how Parents don't teach their kids how to adult and go shocked Pika face when he refuses to adult. I wanted responsibility and to help and they never let me. So it trained into me, to never fucking try that still fucks with me today.
People want to blame him, how ever we are a product of our parents. IF someone turns out shit, 95% of the time it's the parent's fault. They likely ignored him, rejected giving him responsibility so he embodied what they thought him.
I know it's weird for Americans, but generational living is pretty common in a lot of other countries, however in this case I feel there is more to it, just at looking how this guy acts and speaks suggests 2 things: 1. Either he has some undiscovered mental issues that should've been caught earlier in his life by his parents to try to help him or 2. His parents did a horrible job raising their own kid and spoiling him all the way, giving him always what he wants or just let him be like that thinking "he'll be fine one day" without raising him properly how to be an adult. You don't just magically turn like that as grown up without having something wrong beforehand that was ignored through all of his life, or the parents just didn't do the parenting job right and left him to do whatever he wants and that's how he was raised and molded. Or maybe a bit of both. But the parents definitely had a hand in him being like this and never took the proper care to provide the educating or medical help he needed when he was younger. He can't even express himself or doesn't fully understand the simple questions he's been asked which as a 30 year old that's not normal. So he's like a 10 years old boy in the body of a 30 years old man. In any case the parents now reap the fruits of their "labor" and even trying to sue their own son while they also had a hand in creating.
Yes For sure the parents have fault in what he is, no matter if it's mental problem or nurture. In both cases they should've done better job raising him, helping him and making sure he can navigate thru adulthood. I'm more inclined to believe he is on a spectrum considering he can't formulate an answer or even understand the questions, that's not just from laziness. He doesn't even understand what a millennial is, it's almost like asking a little boy grown up questions expecting grown up answers. Like you said this doesn't just develop out of nowhere so the parents knew for long time there is something wrong with his mentality yet did absolutely nothing, otherwise they would've mentioned it or understand why he is like that and now just gave him the boot because of their own failure.
You’re right. I was in a similar position as him, but my depression and anxiety stopped me from getting a job and learning how to drive for years. I’m just now getting on my feet and my life has improved dramatically. Of course I was never in denial and always felt like a burden which deepened my depression even more. I genuinely felt stuck. After getting a job and realizing how easy and how it’s not scary really makes me feel like a dumbass after all these years. Oh well, better late than never. Only unfortunate thing about it is that I’ll have to work longer for my retirement. 🫤😂

I think the big nuance here is "doesnt contribute anything to the household". I know people that live at home at that age, some with jobs and without, but they help pay expenses, do chores, pay rent etc. This guy was called a freeloader
even if you contribute, it’s still weird if you live at home at 30, like come on you’ve been an adult for 10 years, don’t you want privacy and independence?
@@mencibenciWanting something doesn't mean it is feasible. If you have a low paying job and you need to rent something by yourself that is very hard, at least where I live. Most places require you to make a few times the price of your rent. With the very high rent prices, most low paying jobs will not make enough. Then we do have social housing but that ends up with a 10 year, literally, wait list, especially if you currently have a place to live because it is also considered who gets those places based on urgency.
Ahh yea privacy. Don't have the money to pay your own rising rent. So you're forced to shack up with 10 other people to make the rent tolerable. Real privacy and independence there.

I'm german, 31yo and still live with my parents. I willingly pay a 3rd of the overall rent, do chores and even cook for them from time to time. As long as I integrate myself into the household my parents are fine with me staying. I'm no leech unlike this dude.
German too, my parents straight up don't want me to move out. Not that i would need. They buyed a huge, huge house back than when the market wasn't so expensive, i have a whole floor just for me, my brother too I'm getting cooked and my mother basically washes my stuff too, because i messed it up one time. My parents are getting older, they just don't want to be alone.
This is normal in Europe and it was very common only one generation ago. Usually one of children would stay at parent's house to help around and take care of them (if married, wife/husband would move in too). Not everybody was rich enough to buy/build their own home or buy a condo (we don't usually rent long-term). Nowadays it changes a bit and most kids move out but staying at your parent's home is still acceptable, at least until you marry somebody (almost all your couples want to live on their own if circumstances allow it).
its called being an adult. ofc ill help my kids but they will have to participate in maintaining the house they are living in i think those values has to be taught when they are teens tho once they are adult its a bit too late
Yeah. I stayed for a while and mooched, but at least I cleaned, did the dishes, mowed the lawn, and whatever else was asked of me. I was also actively looking for a job and trying to further my education.
What a wholesome family. Just like in the old days. My Dad asked me to get a Life Insurance. He told me it's for the funeral when I die. When the paperwork arrived it said 150k$ and my dad was the only beneficiary. He paid for my life insurance, but I had no health insurance.
I had to move back in with my mom. Our rent shot up to nearly 1,800 and my mother said "That's more than my mortgage! Come back home, thats ridiculous". Instead of paying rent, she insisted the money goes into a fund that will be used to pay for a down payment on my own house. Cost of living is just insane these days. Adding for context, I've held a full time job in healthcare for years. It just doesn't pay enough ;-;
I explained this earlier, but even making a six figure salary I live paycheck to paycheck because of mortgage payments. If life doesn't screw me with surprises like medical emergencies and the like I'll have over 1m in retirement funds by 65, but that money disappears in an instant if you have a family that you're going to need to financially support. Most people who are my parents age (born in 1960-1970), mine included are hilariously out of touch with the cost of a house or with rent, they were able to afford their down payment after 2-4 years of entry level work and were able to pay it off having two people working at McDonalds or similar. Most people my age however see things a little differently and don't have issue with their kids staying at home until they have the means to support themselves and live comfortably-- Which is to say not live on bare necessities paycheck to paycheck. That doesn't really excuse this guy's behavior though. I just figure that since they say he was always smart kid he realized that working for most people won't get you anywhere and you'll be working 'til you die. Frankly most people who have the mindset of "Just go out and work hard" don't have the the capacity to look to the age of retirement and realize it's pointless to even try unless you have the capacity to work a job that pays over 120k/yr.
It's getting like that. I work full time, overnights and weekends, live frugally and don't live in the city where rent is higher, I earn slightly more than the "average" wage for most people, and even I could not afford rent on my own even a small 1-2 bedroom townhouse is out of grasp here in Australia. Literally the only house I could afford here is a shed in the middle of the outback which no one wants to buy for obvious reasons.
My dad is the same way. He wants me to continue living with him since his mortgage is much lower than any rental around me and I just pay half the mortgage and other bills.
Here in Philippines, we usually move out only if we start out a family or if we work far from home. Being single working guy, I still stay with my mom since she's already old and leaving her alone is worrisome. We don't really have options like retirement homes (it's not part of the social culture and not economically sustainable for the majority of people) There's really no reason to move out unless you don't get along with your parents... But being a deadbeat is not an excuse.
"it's not part of the social culture and not economically sustainable for the majority of people" thats all you need to say buddy. This is purely an american/western problem.
@RuelAustria this became apart of western culture because our economy used to support getting a job at 18 that would pay you enough to move out and western culture is simultaneously puritan and full of debauchery so your puritan parents want you to start a family but they don't want you bringing girls to their home(unless you are going to marry them), so you get that job you get your own place you start your family. Modern world this doesn't work very few jobs, and almost 0 entry-level jobs pay you enough yo live by yourself you'll have to share a small space with a bunch of people and hopes one day you make enough money to start a family and get your own place
@@vincenthammons-kd9du Its Filipino culture to contribute. They actually end up doing most of the chores to help elderly parents or grandparents. Sometimes when the kid makes enough money, they’ll even send allowances for their parents to buy whatever. In EU the parents will kick the son/daughter only if they grow to be an ungrateful brat, other than that, they will live with the parents and even the gf/bf can move in if they are respectful.
That's the same case with this 30 year old dead beat. The parents didn't kick him out because of his age, they only did so because he wasn't even helping out in the house. Regardless of where you are that's okay with generational living, no parent would want a son or daughter that isn't helping out in the house. Had he been assisting with rent/bills or at the very minimum, helped out with the chores (he should be the one doing most of them to compensate for his lack of income) the parents would see no issue with his presence, they'd even welcome it. Edit: I doubt any parent would like to be all alone in their old age, especially when they have kids. This guy is simply a nuisance
He's just min/maxing. His folks are old and probably going to die soon. What happens to the house? He inherits the house. Why would he move his stuff twice?

Well deserved. I live in Fiji and I'm 35 and still live with my parents. Only difference is that for the first twenty years of my life, the fed me, clothed me and put a roof over my head while raising me and taking care of our land. Today I feed them, clothe them, and maintain that roof over our heads while taking care of our land. It's my turn to take care of then so I fulfil my duty as a son. People will disagree because they want to keep the flexibility of being substandard parents. Parenting means agreeing to raise a wildcard, and accepting responsibility for the outcome. If you don't like it, don't become one.
It's not really about enabling, in this case, it's not enforcing strict rules in the home, since early childhood. Doesn't matter if he has the tism or not, sure I'm 30+ and still live with my parents, I'm also rich, and I let my parents use my money to buy stuff they need, after all, they might work but if you need to buy a new car, that's not chump change for a low income worker. Best case scenario is you raise your kids well enough, you don't want them to move out, but they can and will do it to start a new family. The fact that they're so insufferable you want them to leave is testament to your own failure as a parent.
@@strongback6550 the biggest issue with these boomer parents is that they believe they have done nothing wrong, and it's all their kids fault because they provided them with basic necesseties to survive. So they will never even realize they have fucked up, they think it isn't their issue because they arent their child. I think any normal and rational person would think that their child is a reflection of them, and they would want to do anything to help them in life no matter what. a lot of american, mainly boomer parents hate their children and its sad. they just wanna get rid of them asap

Still working full time don’t have to pay any rent I do all my groceries gas bills etc it’s about the fine line giving your kids some independence but also not just throwing them out when they’re 16 and I a lot of parents who do this, and they have their reasons. But in this day and age it is too much, I will 100% have an open home for my children for aslong as they and also the nest can always be returned to.
So everyone is acting crockpot level slow😩 So nobody heard the part about not contributing to the household? @@thomgizziz Martin Luther Cream (Heavy).
If he did that he could run for president.
he should have dropped ye olde "What can be, unburdened by what has been."

I think the big nuance here is "doesnt contribute anything to the household". I know people that live at home at that age, some with jobs and without, but they help pay expenses, do chores, pay rent etc.

even if you contribute, it’s still weird if you live at home at 30, like come on you’ve been an adult for 10 years, don’t you want privacy and independence?
@@mencibencican you afford it?

I had to move back in with my mom. Our rent shot up to nearly 1,800 and my mother said "That's more than my mortgage! Come back home, thats ridiculous". Instead of paying rent, she insisted the money goes into a fund that will be used to pay for a down payment on my own house. Cost of living is just insane these days. Adding for context, I've held a full time job in healthcare for years. It just doesn't pay enough ;-;
that's what being a good mother is , good on u
You have a good mom which is more than a lot of us can say.
Here in Philippines, we usually move out only if we start out a family or if we work far from home.
Being single working guy, I still stay with my mom since she's already old and leaving her alone is worrisome. We don't really have options like retirement homes (it's not part of the social culture and not economically sustainable for the majority of people)
There's really no reason to move out unless you don't get along with your parents...
But being a deadbeat is not an excuse.
"it's not part of the social culture and not economically sustainable for the majority of people" thats all you need to say buddy. This is purely an american/western problem.
its okay if you live with your parents imo but you better contribute
@RuelAustria this became apart of western culture because our economy used to support getting a job at 18 that would pay you enough to move out and western culture is simultaneously puritan and full of debauchery so your puritan parents want you to start a family but they don't want you bringing girls to their home(unless you are going to marry them), so you get that job you get your own place you start your family. Modern world this doesn't work very few jobs, and almost 0 entry-level jobs pay you enough yo live by yourself you'll have to share a small space with a bunch of people and hopes one day you make enough money to start a family and get your own place
I am 100% certain if this guy got a job they wouldn't have kicked him out.

The wake doesn’t drive the boat
People will disagree because they want to keep the flexibility of being substandard parents. Parenting means agreeing to raise a wildcard, and accepting responsibility for the outcome. If you don't like it, don't become one.
It's not really about enabling, in this case, it's not enforcing strict rules in the home, since early childhood. Doesn't matter if he has the tism or not, sure I'm 30+ and still live with my parents, I'm also rich, and I let my parents use my money to buy stuff they need, after all, they might work but if you need to buy a new car, that's not chump change for a low income worker.
