Thank you for the kind words! That's good to know about Lutron, but OMG - I just looked it up, and thank you for pointing that out - but at $60 per switch I'll stick with regular old switches and Shelly relays. LOL It is nice to see that someone is making them in different colors now. I have a friend who was interested in smart lighting for his house but he has off-white hardware currently, and didn't want to replace ALL of it. I'll let him know! Thanks for watching! :)
@@elevatedviewstcl Thank you!! I've got several more in the hopper. Next will be Roborock S8 Pro Ultra (I've had that ready to go for a while but people kept voting for other stuff), and I'm going to do a video about Music Assistant, too. Z-wave mousetrap, Bond RF blaster, my smart home network gear.. Umm.. Amcrest doorbells (if they are ever back in stock - I need 2 more before I can commit (the one I have is nice but my OCD needs me to have all the same)), Aqara cube, Aqara mmwave, VLANs, certificates, all sorts of ideas on the list currently. :)
@@fasthowto can't wait bro. I'm pretty much addicted to Home Assistant now lol and am always looking for new ideas and ways to integrate new tech into the ecosystem.
Inovelli has smart switches - Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter versions. They have multiple color plate options including black. They color match the Lutron Decora style. Yes, about $55 but a huge amount of features, including being capable of working with smart bulbs. High quality. US small company - 4 people out of Michigan.
I'm no electrician, but wouldn't you need to install a bigger box with more box fill, maybe a 22.5 cu in, to be within code? I know box fill applies to conductors, grounds, outlets/switches, and if it has internal clamps, but I feel like it would also apply here. Just a thought.
Good point! I'm no electrician either, but you're probably right. I didn't really show the box in any kind of detail, but the box shown in the video is a 22.5 cu in box. I installed it when I added that switch during the kitchen remodel. :) I always install larger boxes just because it makes things easier having more room in there. Thanks for watching!
@@fasthowto I understood what you were going to do, but not how you did it and why. You cut pasted changed, but what did and why would have been nice, watching these videos fto be able to learn myself, but until this was good, but then it fell away for me.
@@1kobbens I see. The changes that I was making have been covered in several of my previous videos. I try not to repeat the same content too many times, and the assumption is that viewers either already know how to perform some tasks, or have watched previous videos where I showed how to do them. All I did during that time was copy the code from the outlet button, change the display name, and the entity that the button controlled. If you watch that section again, you can see the changes happening in real time on the dashboard preview window to the right of the code. You can see the extra button called "Sink Light" appear, then you can see a second button called "Sink Light" appear, then you can see me realize I forgot to change the name of it, so I go back and change the display name to Coffee Undercabinet. You can do all that in the UI as well, but I just find the code faster and easier to work with if there are very minor changes that need to be made - like just a display name and an entity. There's no way to "copy" a button in the UI that I know of, so that's actually slower - for me, anyway. Hope that helps!
Awesome video. Lutron Caseta makes smart switches in many different colors. Black is one of them.

@@fasthowto yeah they are a bit pricey lol. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming. I love your content!

Can you please do how to use a shelly one to automate a pedestrian gate and garage system
Sorry, I use RATGDO for my garage door, and I do not have a pedestrian gate.
Thanks for watching!

Seems like smart switches have come a long way since I bought these Shellys almost 2 years ago. That's great to hear!
Thanks for watching!

Channel name suggestion: AHA Automation!
No? I'll keep looking ;-)
