I grew up in New Zealand, Sunday roast is readily available over there too, with some local variation such as roast kumara, pumpkin or baby beetroot. I now live in the UK and still have one occasionally, hard to beat really. Glad you enjoyed it, definitely something to replicate for family and friends when you get back to the US, they'll thank you for it.

That is completely wonderful! I have to say it is now one of my all-time favorite meals! It is something. I think my soul was missing, and I didn't even know it. I kick myself that it took us so long to enjoy a Sunday Roast, but Sundays are our days that we're able to travel. Because chris works full-time and I help my friend out on most Saturdays. So we can't always fit everything that we want in all the time, but I think we are doing pretty good with all of our adventures. Oh, I'm kicking myself that we have been missing out on this delight far too long!! Thank you so much for coming along with us on this fabulous adventure! 🤍 Jess x

Can't believe you went this long without a Sunday roast! Glad you found such a lovely place to have your first of many. Loved the teal paint in the dining room, and the tour around the antique barn. I see you like blue and white china too. I just got a lovely Spode plate in the pattern Rome which I've had my eye on for a while. Very nice choices! I could spend hours in there and sped far too much. Nice to see an old style *hot water bottle* in ceramic. I remember my grandparents had a couple until they discovered the newer rubber ones. Thanks for taking us along.

@@DaydreamersBarn Oh you'll be fine cooking a roast. If you want something a bit different meat-wise, venison, or a Guinea Fowl are absolutely lovely too. The key to Yorkshire puddings(it's a basic pancake mix) but the oil in the Yorkshire pudding tin needs to be smoking hot when you pour the mix in to bake. Roast potatoes...par boil for 10 mins, drain, put the lid on the pan and shake it to rough the outsides up, then in to the oven the oil or fat of your choice(olive or rapeseed, or you can get little jars of duck or goose fat in all supermarkets.) Then whatever other veg you fancy really. I don't know if you've tried parsnips yet, but peel, par boil for 10 mins with the potatoes and roast together. They will appear on the shelves in autumn. You can always use Sweet Potato to roast if you'd prefer and they work just as well. :)

Where you had your Sunday Roast is right next door to my hairdresser salon. I’m live in Wimbotsham in Downham Market. Such a lovely quiet friendly town with a lot of old age pensioners live. With the Markets and lots of places to eat in Downham. My granddaughter works in a cafe next to Savers near Boots in the town. We love living here in our converted barn that my husband built 30 years ago. So glad you enjoyed your first Sunday roast dinner. Hi - glad you enjoyed the Sunday roast - once upon a time a staple of our weekly diet - hot on Sunday - cold meat on Monday and a pie or similar on Tuesday - but now sadly just an occasional treat usually eaten as you did , in a pub rather than at home. I'm sure we will all miss your positive and happy videos about our little county - for many of us it would be good to see similar videos about the U.S when you get home - if that's something you might do? I'm not sure if anyone's suggested you visit Lavenham (Suffolk) which is a very pretty old wool town with some fantastic old buildings. If you do you might call in at the Swan for a drink - in a bar there they have retained panels containing the signatures of servicemen who drank there from UK/US etc who served in WW2.

at 5:00 ish there was Belfast sinks and chimney pots for sale. Back in the 70's we smashed up 100's of those. Little did I know I was throwing money away.
And don't get me started on the Oak Beams we burnt.

Way back in the 70’s in London, the bulldozing that was going on meant that lots of “stuff” was burnt or smashed up.
The fireplaces we got rid of was criminal.
Really ornate carved huge pieces and loads of iron fireplaces, just scrapped for scrap value.
I saw a fireplace recently that was from an old mansion in Richmond and was half the size of the huge ones we scrapped, and the asking price was £7,250.
      Gutted.

The further north you go, the cheaper the properties. Yorkshire, Northumberland, Durham ; you have magnificent scenery, including the rugged coastline. The cost of living is cheaper than the south, and overall there is more open environment than the south. Converting a suitable property to your standards would be easier on the wallet. Scotland is within easy reach. The highlands are magnificent. Maybe, overall, properties are a tad more than the US, but I think that the UK is a very special place. But I am biased. It's nice to see you on the ròad again ; hope you enjoyed your meal. Love your company. Cheers. Sheffield South Yorkshire.

I love a good Sunday roast, have it nearly every week but usually cook it myself these days to save a few quid. That one you had looked nice and at £15 quite good value. If you haven't tried one already and got a good one in your area I would recommend having a Sunday carvery. You normally get a choice of three or four meats which you can mix and also help yourself to as much veg as you want.

'Mac and Blair Adventures' went to the the Royal Welsh show for an idea of what to expect, although that one is bigger.

@@DaydreamersBarn What ? Surely you have been to a pub on a Sunday and `had a carvery ?`
They are a typical Sunday roast but you get a choice of a variety of meats - perhaps there`s nothing unique about that - and also get as much as you can eat of all the other vegetables one can eat.
My Mrs and I went to one - quite off the cuff a few years ago at a pub called ( I think ) The Red Lion Inn between Brigg and Kirton Lindsay in North Lincolnshire.
We never got the opportunity to ge back - but it was one of the best we`ve had.
Today went to my usual place and had the meal and a coke for £10:15.
But the Sunday Carvery is everywhere over here.

A Sunday Roast is a truly wonderful thing guys... My late mother made the most delicious Sunday Roast... It would include the following items... Roast Potatoes... Mashed Potatoes... Petit Pois Peas... Carrots... Broccoli... Cauliflower... Sage & Onion Stuffing... Yorkshire Puddings... With one of the following meat options... Roast Shoulder Of Pork... Roast Leg Of Lamb... Roast Beef... Roast Gammon Joint... Roast Chicken... Roast Turkey... With real Gravy made with the meat juices and some of the Vegetable water after they'd been strained... Our plates were usually piled high... And we usually didn't eat again for the rest of the day... Any leftover Mashed Potatoes & Vegetables were saved in the fridge overnight.
So we would have Bubble & Squeak on a Monday... Any leftover meat was sliced up... And put in the fridge in a Tupperware Box... And used for the next few days for either a cold Salad or for cold meat Sandwiches... Nothing from a Sunday Roast was ever wasted... It was way too good for that... Happy memories of much happier times... I'm glad you all had a lovely Sunday Roast... The first of many more i hope... Thanks for taking us along guys... I'm now off to watch the last couple of your videos... As today is "catch up Sunday" for me... 👍And i can view any RUclips videos I've missed... 👌All the very best guys... Cheers.🍺

I don’t know how “true” this statement is but I watched one USA person on his YT blog, whilst he was visiting here, testing out an “English” Sunday roast, saying that the only time he and his fellow USA peeps have a biiiig roast is just ONCE A YEAR *gulps* 😳😲on Thanksgiving Day (you know the familiar scene, a roast Turkey the size of an ostrich, cranberry sauce, cauliflower cheese etc etc) and even a Christmas roast Dinner is not “a thing” where he is from either…. 😕😕
Imagine, if it was like that in GB with a “once a year event” 😲 once the celebratory day is over, done and dusted….you would have to wait 364 days for another roast dinner treat!!! 😳😳😳😨….thank goodness I can’t see that ever happening here! 😂
