I was always amazed that a toy of this was created. in 32 episodes, it is seen about two times. If SPECTRUM wanted to move VIP's about, they generally used a vehicle that, on the outside, looked like a fuel tanker, but was actually an armoured transport called, I believe, the 'Silver Fox'. Lovely restoration. Halfords grey primer was the paint of choice for British special effects artists. Most spacecraft of TV shows and movies of the 1960's onwards, were painted with Halfords grey primer. Captain Scarlet was first broadcast in 1967 - I was four, and it was the first thing that I remember being utterly obsessed with, to the point of distraction. A show that was far darker than most adult shows of the time, with some graphic violence, and some unflinchingly nasty deaths. But they were puppets, so it didn't matter... 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Thank you.Iv restored mine to the series grey. Its brought back memories of a small plastic MSV that was also available in a breakfast serial, think it was Nabisco. You could collect all the vehicles and they where in the original colours.I was still in infants school and it was the late sixties. Cheers for your help.
With the exception of you painting the front headlights black, that was an excellent restoration :) Dinky sprayed them black too for some reason, despite them obviously being headlights in the TV show.
I recommend that paint stripper! I’ve used it for a broad range of die-cast cars. The stripper breaks down easily in the environment according to the information. I’ve also restored the MSV. Great job and the TV colour scheme looks fantastic!
I did this as a ten year old when I got one of these when they were first released, lol. Why the makers of the toy decided to paint it off white with a red base was lost on me, even a kid like myself could see that it was not like the "real" ones on television. I was in Australia, and I just put it down to the British thinking that their kids were stupid.
Great restoration of this msv. Ref the 3d printed interior, would you consider selling me one or do you know of anyone who sells them please?? Regards, Terry Lewis.
Outstanding work!
Thank you! Cheers!

I hate to tell you this, but the SPECTRUM roundel colours are WRONG ! Those are the generic roundels, NOT the original design as used by DINKY TOYS.
