I was lucky enough to grow up in the mid-80s when people were selling their Gerry Anderson toys from this era in steam fairs & car boot sales. I could always spot a Gerry Anderson design, even from shows I hadn't seen (the jet air car from Joe 90,for example)! Loved this design.
Beautiful restoration work Paul, I've never ever seen this car till now thankyou amazing resto looks like brand new, awesome video and production cheers KC Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝😎🙂👍
Excellent restoration, great to watch 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻 Nice piece of work on that sound unit. I had one of these as a kid and it was my all time equal favourite with the James Bond DB5
Excellent work your work is well done on every vehicle you do such tension to detail from the fixing of the little motor gears to the wheels you make always cool thank you great videos. Your welcome from last video just Excellent work very enjoyable to watch restoring little vehicles. 🙂👍👍👍✌👌💯
Never realized how much I could truly enjoy watching a box be made. Great restoration! I am an only child who grew up in a rural area and my parents and I moved about 80 miles away in 1971 when I was six. I vaguely remembered watching a couple of episodes of Captain Scarlet, but no one in my new area had ever heard of the show (different TV stations and programs). Parents were no help, so I actually thought I had imagined the show until the 1990's when the internet became a thing.
No you never imagined it. Watched all the Gerry Anderson series as a kid from Thunderbirds to UFO and Space 1999. Even had a single with the theme to Fireball XL5 and many of the annuals. Kids don't know what they are missing these days! I am about the same age and we moved about a lot at the time so sadly a lot of my old Dinky toys went missing (went to about 4 different schools one year) . Worth a fortune now so wish we had stayed put.
Great stuff. Wish I'd kept all my Dinky toys. They did a load of the vehicles of sci fi tv stuff of the late 60's and 70's. Of course, they weren't cheap because of the quality and because unusually for toys, were made to last. Thanks for uploading... very therapeutic!!
Great restoration, as always. I still have my original from Christmas, 1968. My Grandmother got it for me. Mum and Dad got me the SPV and MSV. I was obsessed with the Captain Scarlet TV show. I was five and a bit at the time. I could never understand, though, why this model had a mechanism to make a 'jet engine' noise, when in the show, the SPC (Spectrum Patrol Car) just sounded like a normal vehicle.
I was bought that model brand new as something like a 7 year old. That was more than 50 years ago now. I loved it for the rich autumnal metallic red. It was one of my favourite toys but I wouldn't have a clue what my mother did to become of it? Maybe I'll now ask her? Now there's a blessing :) I've often thought about it since and how I wished I could reimagine it. Thanks to this video then now we can. It's an excellent work of art to restore the model to what appears as pristine condition. It also lays to rest my curiosity against once again wishing to own an example. For me I'd stick to a modern day slot car referencing the advances in material science and precision engineering on any day of the week. That's just me, mind. This model certainly did once have a strong place in my heart.
Hello, I have an original Patrol car. Still in reasonable condition. A few knocks on the paintwork body, but still intact. The restoration work you did in this Vlog is stunning.
that is one crazy cool casting. never seen before. the skill used to match the paint and do the details was outstanding . then to have the box aswell. the entire end result is beyond outstanding nice job as always
The Spectrum Patrol vehicle was one of the very few Dinky models to have a friction motor. Great restoration as always. You must get through a lot of gloves.
Yes from what I remember the only other one was Straker's car from UFO which my cousin owned. I owned the UFO interceptor but always wanted the UFO mobile. Managed to buy a diecast model of one about 10 years ago made by "Product Enterprises". Far better detail than Dinky, then again you get 21st century production techniques and quality. Hard to find now without paying a fortune on Ebay. They make many different models from Gerry Anderson series if anyone is interested.

Great to watch. Having just inherited my parents house, my old toybox was still under the stairs, complete with all three spectrum cars, joe 90 and the UFO tractor. All in better condition but far from mint.Seeing your wonderful restoration brought back happy memories, thanks.
I wasn’t very interested at first, but then I saw how much painstaking, difficult work it was and I now think you are a true craftsman. Congratulations on all your artistry.
Fantastic 😊 I had all captain Scarlett collectables from the Jerry Anderson TV shows back in the 1970's. Oh memories. Great finishing touch with the box, just like the original one 🙌👍👌 well done.
Wow. As a lover of Dinky and Matchbox toys as a child (I would stuff my pockets so full before school that they would hurt - digging into my thighs when I walked/sat!), I was fascinated by this presentation - especially your manufacture of tyres - so cool! Great job, 💖 🇨🇦
Fantastic 👍 I collected all of Gerry Anderson TV show toys, book and the picture and information cards back in the 1970's. All I have is the great memories. Thanks this brings them all back 🙂🙂👌🙌👍🤩
I never had a Matchbox/Dinky/Hotwheels car that had a "motor". I was aware that they existed as a friend of mine had one, but they were very uncommon. Eventually, around 1979, my Grandmother bought me a Tonka "clutch popper" for Christmas (same basic idea, much larger size), and that was the best gift that year!
An interesting prototype and a lovely restoration. The dye in the lacquer coat worked out really well. I look forward to next Tuesday's project. Thanks once again.
Definitely my favourite of all Gerry Anderson's great series. Captain Black scared me more than any monster off Doctor Who that's for sure. Used to watch as a kid back in the late '60's on Saturday mornings. Did not own this model but I had the SPV for Christmas 1973 which was my favourite Dinky toy that I owned. Only problem was the rocket and trying not to lose it. These models are very rare these days and worth a fortune if they are mint and boxed. Also used to have the Dinky UFO interceptor, just wish I still had it along with the SPV.
Thanks. You brought back memories. My dad got me the SPC, whilst he bought my brothers the MSV (Maximum Security Vehicle) and the SPV (Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle).
I really appreciate that you do your restorations without a big workshop and expensive tools. It is something I could do myself. These guys with a $50,000 workshop for a toy do not impress me at all. Of course, they are great. But I appreciate you.

Absolutely phantastic job! Brings back memories of the good old 60's. I had a lot of them, mostly Corgi, Matchbox and Siku. Today I am happy, that in the late 80's I started to collect all my childhood-memories again, prefered in MIB condition. Found them all over the world... but the prizes today are crazy... Love to watch your channel, greetz from Cologne🖖👻

A useful trick from plastic modelers. Hunt down some old school “Fewture” floor polish. These days known as “Pledge with Fewture Shine”. The stuff is actually liquid Acrylic. It is the best thing ever for restoring old canopies and clear pieces. Just dip the piece in it. Set it aside to let it fully dry overnight. Come back the next day and lightly polish it. You will be amazed. Your old plastic looks like new glass. It’s also sprayable straight out of the bottle as a clear coat.
This is when i am happy top say : "I am old enough to remember"
