I gotta go with shark in the water. That was such a turning point in the degrassi Franchise. I remember when that promo came out and feeling excited/anxious for the season to start but also on the fence about the new characters and storylines that were to come. I do love every single music video they did as well, but there’s just something about the shark in the water promo that just stood out for me and changed degrassi in a new and better way.

I loved the “Shark In The Water”. promo the best. It was the first done and the hints they gave about what was to come in the season were subtle but meaningful. The situation with Holly J and Sav was epic. Clare and Eli...nuff said. Also the whole Vegas Night atmosphere , mixed with the carnival was great. It hinted at the finale of the season, and I remember watching each week to see how it would build to that point. You can’t mention the promo videos without mentioning the commercials for Degrassi that aired on Teen Nick at that time. I’d like to see a video dedicated to those.

I watched Shark In The Water when it aired and I was hooked. I never saw season 11 or 12 promos cuz I moved and didn't have cable. I saw the season 14 one the day it premiered on RUclips but having not even knowing about the two middle ones I just thought it was another random decision. Interesting to get all this information. I remember getting as hyped for the promos as the episodes and watching every single one, and I loved how they named a group of episodes like "In Too Deep". It really was prime Degrassi fan experience, I miss it.

I will be re-reading Stephen’s book from an updated perspective. I appreciate how you are continuing to promote Degrassi’s legacy even as we reside in this limbo of “the show is pretty much cancelled, but without any official announcements from Netflix, and there’s always a possibility it will be picked-up again in the future a la TNG S1 but we really don’t know anything at this time”. While the future is unclear, this show will live on in the fandom - new fans and old fans alike - forever. This show taught me hope at a young age, and I’d like to believe that, despite having no new content for years, Degrassi contributes to inspire. Thanks for all you do.

I remember so vividly watching on teen nick the promos for degrassi the boiling point and the moment where Mr. Simpson said degrassi is on lockdown. The hype was real and the season didnt disappoint. I loved the other music video promos as well but season 10 stood out so much for me because I had watched the previous seasons in the past occasionally over the years but that season made me watch every day when the episodes aired.
As much as I love the older seasons, Shark in the Water was the best promo. I randomly had that song in my head a few months back and remembered where it was from after a few seconds. Even though it had been years since I've seen it I remembered how good that promo was. Can't say the same for any of the others.

the s10-12 era of degrassi was everything. i'd argue it's one of the show's primes. i remember coming home from school everyday and turning on the tv to see what eli and clare were up to and everything else that was going on. ur so right in that it revitalized the show and breathed new life into it because it was reaching a lull before that point. the telenovela format worked so well for the plot and storylines. however, i would have been interested to see a spinoff with some of the ogs in hollywood. i'm just curious to see what that would look like, and i do miss seeing some of them on a regular basis.

Degrassi content on tumblr was never-ending, and everyone would liveblog the episodes as they came out every weekday. The excitement was INSANE when compared to the previous, lackluster seasons (7-9) which no one seemed to care about. Fan engagement was just completely revived.
There’s actually a full Shark in the Water Music Video that features VV Brown herself. While she doesn’t interact with the Degrassi cast in it. It allows it to work as a legit music video that stands on it’s own and not just a TV Promo.
