Anyone who is ordering Z06 instead of stingray means he is ready to pay 30k more for a z06. That means he prefers Z06 over stingray, could be any reason performance/ sound / wider body / HP etc. so just because he may not get Z06 anytime soon , asking them to go for C8 stingray does not sound right. Then we can also say why wait for 1.5 years for a stingray, buy a porshe or M5 or something else. If anyone fixed Your mind on Z06 , I believe it’s worth the wait , do not compromise because of availability.

    • @BrinkofSpeed

The reasons I gave here are mostly cause, there are many out there who have never owned a C8 who are going straight for the Z06. They’ve never experienced the C8 and would probably love it and be perfectly content with it while waiting 3-4 years for their Z06.

But the Z06 isn't about acceleration, that is going to be the ZR1 when it comes out. The Z06 is about track-day cornering performance. Well, the C8 across the board is already well known for that, so going from famously good to famously good is... underwhelming. For 99% of buyers, either car will out-perform the driver easily.

My local dealer openly told me they are not accepting anymore people for z06 simply due to the fact that the list they have is already over two years long. My stingray is expected in 18 months but I am hoping that could be faster once production improves.
Let me tell you a story.
About 14 years ago I bought my first car, a used Kia Rio. It was cheap, water used to leak when it rained and my friends called it water mobile. At that time I worked at a place where the owner had two classic corvettes parked inside the workshop. I fell in love and dreamed of getting one in my life hopefully some day. Fast forward 14 years where after a lot of hard work my situation has improved quite a bit that I can afford a corvette. I am very excited to finally get my first ever sports car, first ever 2 seater convertible car, first ever car with a v8. Dream is surely going to come true soon. By that time I will save some more money :).

The real problem I see it’s that they make you wait for a car for so long that I lose interest and want to move on. I wanted a GT500 but everyone I spoke with wanted over MSRP and I am not rewarding them by paying over MSRP. With prices going up and the high price of gas, I decided to move on. That’s a sale that ford will not make and Chevrolet will be in the same position when someone decides they no longer want to wait for a Corvette.

I was at the track in the fall and there was a z06 c8
I instantly went up to it and was amazed how good it looks
As we went on the track in my head I thought i was gonna get destroyed but after a few laps I noticed i was gaining on him out of the corners
He was braking deeper and cornering about the same
After the end of the day i was really wondering if waiting another 2 years for my z06 is worth it
Btw my c8 has toyo r888r tires which probably gave me an advantage over the z06 stock tires

The only real difference between a 3LT and a 2LT is the highest quality interior is available on the 3LT. A well optioned 2LT will be thousands less and still have a great interior.

Almost all your arguments revolve around availability or price but the real question should be, I think, is will the Z06 be that much more exciting in daily use. We already know that 0-60 (non Z07) will likely be ~2.7 sec so only marginally faster and outside of magazines or RUclipsrs claiming great 0-60 times based on the cars timer (I got 2.65 on the PDR timer in my non-Z51 C8), I'm not aware of anyone actually doing 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. High revving engines like the Z06 develop max power at much higher rpms so in daily driving the old pushrod might actually be more responsive short of full throttle runs and does that flat plane crank motor actually sound better. Me, I'm driving my C8 and #26 on the local list so I will definitely get one if I want to pay the markup (salesman says they haven't decided but are taking $50K).

    • @55rhill

Please don’t pay over MSRP. If customers say no to price gouging dealers and flippers it will help end this car insanity. This video just another click bait nonsense. I didn’t hear anything that anyone with a lick of sense doesn’t already know. With all due respect, this guy knows nothing you and I can’t find out from your local dealer which is where you should be getting information. If I wanted the Z06 I wouldn’t go buy a stingray now just to have one while waiting. When the car bubble bursts, many people will be really upside down even at MSRP. Find an MSRP dealer and wait It out. You’ll be much better off.

    • @philsalley3278
      @philsalley3278 2 года назад

@@55rhill You are talking about a reality that does not exist today. We are finishing up the third model year for the C8 and there is no indication of prices coming down much. If you want to go out today and order a Z06 at MSRP you are probably going to wait 4-5 years. The C8/Z06 "bubble" is not going anywhere any time soon. I would guess that the Z06 price is going to be significantly higher than what it was going to be due to inflation everywhere. The thing you and many others don't understand is that the C8 is a real world $125k sports car when you look at the alternatives which in many cases are not even as good as the C8 and the Z06 is a real world $175k+ supercar so even at a $50k markup it is still a great value. The auto industry has found out that low inventories equal higher selling prices so kiss the days of price negotiation and 100s of cars overflowing dealer lots goodbye.

Another reason not to buy any of the C8 vets is GM will fight you on warranty issues if they can. There appears to be a known headlight water streaks on inside of light . In my case it’s a 21 convertible , never driven in rain and only washed once , usually wipe down with detail spray after every ride . Had PPF installed last year . After winter noticed streaks on inside of light . Dealer took photos tried to convince me it was on outside . Took back to Penske auto who did the film , very high end dealer. They said is on inside and to prove it took out headlight polishing wheel and wax that would virtually remove anything . Stayed the same . GM and dealer not warranty it said the use of heat gun on PPF film may have caused it . Penske said would be embarrassed to tell someone such a thing and in fact no heat gun was used in my install. The reason this is so cheep is it is . They do anything they can to get out of warranty items like this . Don’t buy car , get something better built and with solid customer service . Never had any such warranty issues with my Acuras or anything for that matter .

IMHO the C8 Stingray and the C8 Z06 are 2 very different cars. Anyone who is about really driving would not be happy settling for the Stingray. Sadly very few people buying the Z06 will ever really use it. For many it is more about bragging rights, so even for those, the Stingray would not fulfill that need.

They’re actually not all that different lol. The Z06 has some more top end, but the Stingray has more lower end torque. It’s a better car to drive around town with and offers more usability. Z06 shines in the upper RPMs. How many times will you be revving it out on the streets? The 0-60 times are nearly identical. The torque on the Z06 is pathetic for the engine size.

    • @Pmtd1234

But just like my last Corvette (C5R-427) my primary interest is running Road Atlanta and most of my street driving is the back roads of the Great Smokey Mtns, as the saying goes "Drive it like you stold it." With a C8 Stingray Ring time 7:29.9 & the C8 Z06, that should be sub 7, performance wise the C8 Stingray is not close. So saying "They're not all that different" is not really accurate.

I have a c8 currently and i plane on just getting the procharger supercharger but if that doesn’t happen, gonna drive my c8 for a couple more years then trade it in for a z06 one day hopefully

Sounds like the z06 is the Porsche GT3 of the corvette world in terms of availability

There's no way im getting a standard C8 when i can get a Z06. In my opinion it's worth the wait! 🔥🔥🔥

Reserve the upcoming E ray as it will be 10 grand less and the delivery will be sooner than the z06 with the same wide body.

I would get a Stingray now, skip the Z06, and instead get the ZR1.

Thank you for the great info. C8 Z06 would sound and look a great car but I would skip it for C8 ZR1 if exists and available. Now I Iove my 2022 C8 Stingray. Exciting to drive it every time. Keep up the great work!

General Motors, do you expect great multitudes to wait for a 2025 C8 Z06? This scramble for a C8 has been one delay and disappointment after another. How much more will the market tolerate?

Plus higher torque on the Stingray’s pushrod. Don’t get me wrong; I’d prefer the Z06, but the Stingray is actually better suited for around-town and country road spirited driving. Plus does anyone trust a first-year flat plane crank engine from a company that plans on full electrification by 2030?
