- This is a cat death trap. the sensors don't work, the rake is so wide it doesn't get the poop out . also it sticks to the rake. I'm going to try some diy upgrades an see if it can be better. also you can make a forever cat box tray for it using a big Tupperware container. video is on RUclips. I am going to try adding some thing to bottom so I can put a peepad. an different litter to subscribe please
This lady doesn’t really realize that a cat weighs a lot more than a little poop scoop and that’s how the sensor works lol
It’s about the size, but as long as the cat is in front of the sensors itll activate
I got a bad one too. The rake starts and then stops and flashes blue and red which means something is blocking the rake. I take the scoop and investigate, but the only thing around the rake is crystal litter! It stops even when there is no poo in it. I unplug it and plug it back and it works fine, goes back to the home position and then when my cat uses it again...same thing happens. 😡 I don't know whether to call customer service, or just return it to PetSmart. Frustrating!

The point of that sensor is to set a 20 minute timer. Every time a cat uses it the sensor detects it and tells it to wait 20 minutes until it scoops the poop. This way it won't activate when a cat is in it.
You know when you come to stop d light in your car, and the light changes because a sensor tells it to do so? And that same light, if a plastic cup or a litter scooper pulled up to that same light, guess what would happen? The sensor doesn't change the light because there is no car there. Just as this doesn't work in this situation, a cup and a shit scooper are not a cat.. Also, using another brand of litter, especially a clumping clay litter, will void your warranty.
I got the self cleaning cat genie it's amazing
The sensor is the little black dot on either side (you can see one, the other is directly across). Try waving your hand in front of it or place the cup in front of it. Mine works just fine. I think it shoots a beam across the box like a garage door safety beam.
Well I purchased another one and it did the same thing my cat was in there using it and it turned on and it tried to eat my cat up so I took it back and I got a cat genie self cleaning toilet it was expensive but worth every penny thank you though for your comment God-bless you
What a horrible review. You didn’t even trigger the sensor. A cat isn’t the size of the scoop LOL also you placed the cup behind them. You can literally see the sensors on the side!!! This also states not to use with a kitten again jeez! This review is full of user errors and is totally misleading!!! I have one of these use it properly with crystals which again it says to only use and it works amazing!
The instructions tell you to keep it unplugged if you have a kitten under six months old.
It’s a good thing my cats aren’t a solo cup and sifter I place away from the sensor. This box is awesome.
I wish I would have watched this before I bought mine. I thought it was so simple How could it not work but I guess my cats poops are small and or loose so I end up having to clean it anyway
Maybe the sensor doesn't work when you choose the manual clean

Sorry it took so long to reply yeah I went with the cat Jenny self cleaning toilet very expensive but I got my really cheap on eBay and it is amazing it's amazing I love it you don't have to ever touch litter again it's amazing and people talk about it smells all you gotta do is put vacant soda and vinegar down the little shoot once A-day and it cleans all the leftover poo out leftover pull out amazing worth every penny

You didn't put the scoop OR the cup in front of the sensors ! The beam has to be broken which it would be if there was a cat in there. Cat's are taller that the scoop and longer than the cup. NICE TRY !
Actually my cat got in the Box and it cleaned the Box while. My cat was trying to use it so yeah I did test it right OK so obviously. You'll have a better Box than me. Maybe mind mal function? I don't know but it was a piece crap

No I didn't do nothing wrong because I took it back and got another one and it did the same thing so I just went with the good cat genie self cleaning toilet and it was expensive but worth every penny but thank you God-bless you have a great
