I finally picked one of these up after wasting money on a litter robot that my cats refused to go inside of🤦. They seem to like this one much better because it's more of a traditional litter box. We have not had any issues with it so far, wish we had saved some money and went with one of these first.
@kumi9479 mine has been working fine with no issues. The litter can need redistributing evenly every couple of days, but mechanically, it's been working perfectly.

@marybethwilkinson2609 Good luck. Just keep in mind that you will need to empty the waste bin more often than they say. It's not sealed, so smells do escape from it.

@amandamanning4147 I'm using large kitchen tidy bags. They're way too long, but you need the width of them. I tuck the excess under the litter tray.
Hi I purchased this box and there is cardboard at the end of the collection tray? Did yours have this attached ?
I have 3 cats and only two use it. Though I tend to use extra large litter boxes. So this petsafe one is smaller than what my cats are use to .
Yes, the actual litter tray area isn't overly large (considering the overall size of the PetSafe.) The high/ wide sides may also put that cat off using it?
@@davidg5991 My male cat uses it the most. He doesn’t seem to mind.

Hello! Thanks so much for this review. May I ask if you were making a comparison with the PetSafe Crystal Classic Litter Box (with the tray)? I'm asking this because I saw your subtitle (9:16) saying "With the old tray, we'd be changing litter very 7-9 days..."

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. I was comparing using the same clumping clay litter in the PetSafe Self Cleaning Litter Box to the plain plastic litter tray we were using. (The one shown in the size comparison. )
I haven't tried their Crystal Litter at all. It would be interesting to compare it with the clay.
(BTW, I checked the PetSafe Litter Box this morning, and the litter still doesn't smell of urine! It's been topped up regularly, but the litter tray section has not required cleaning, or the litter changed since I started the test over a month ago.)
Are there different models of this litter box? I've seen mixed reviews on using any other litter than the crystal litter that it clogs up the rake or that it fills the water box too quickly. I want to use regular clumping litter.
@@katyamaji2887 Yeah this one uses any type of litter but it's more expensive because of it.
So how would you rate the performance after 3 months? Does it still work? I have seen hack modifications to extend the storage capacity. If it could operate unattended for a couple of days or more it would be the key in my opinion to being able to travel and be away without having someone come by to look after my cats except if something goes wrong. Everything else is fairly easy to set up for multi-day automation.
@keyboarderror1 We've been using it continuously since it arrived. There have been no problems at all, and it is still working perfectly. If you've only got one cat, it should be fine left for at least four days. It's mainly the odour that would be noticeable as the waste bin isn't sealed. Perhaps leaving some charcoal (or Nilodor) in the bin might help?
Is the timer customizable?
@ruthlessluder No, it's fixed at 10 minutes. You can cancel it or activate a manually triggered clean via the indicator/ button. It also won't clean if it detects a cat in the tray- I think that restarts/ resets the 10 minute timer again.
