@@BIMvoice We are currently looking at developing a BIM model of our 13000 sq meter ore processing facility. Knowing some of the facts pointed out during your tutorial will definitely help our decision making process on appropriate file sizes supplied by draftsmen(women). Also liked the section on how .ifc files are less susceptible to various CAD versions over the years. Am enjoying learning from you and other content developers very much. Thanks again.
This video was greatly needed by me. It covers essential concepts in an informative manner. Thank you for making this so I didn't have to pull my hair out for another week trying to figure these pieces out by myself.
We use IFC to import models from revit/cadwork/archicad into hsbCAD (based of Autocad architecture), and often the dimension of the models are massive, good explanation on how to deal with this. I finally might have found a place for blender in our work flow! (company manufacturing cross laminated timber panels and glue laminated timber beams). Thank you
Thank you! Just what I need to start with BlenderBIM. And I'm sure at this time of writing (October 2023) there's leaps in the latest version. Question : What do you need to plan/streamline when the client ask for LOD 100, 200 up to 500 in the BIM process?
What do you want to use BBIM for? Modeling? Quality and Coordination? Check out other videos on my channel and head over to @ifcarchitect . He has many good videos for modeling.
@@BIMvoice For quality checks and coordination. I need to provide feedback to designers who use different BIM applications so their models are light when combined to a federated model.
Great video i must say. And what a brilliant way to check the heavy culprits in an ifc model. Thanks guys. So, are IFC models done in Freecad better than that done in Blender since freecad is all solids whereas blender is all meshes
It doesn't necessarily correlate with the modeling paradigm. Blender uses meshes, but the BlenderBIM Add-on lets you work on parametric solids, so you can create an entirely non-mesh model in Blender. In Revit, which uses solids, tends to export a ton of really low quality meshes...
@@DionMoult Thank you very much, I'm trying to get professional in this area and your guides are extremely good and maybe the only resource I found on youtube. I wanna apply for job seeker in australia and trying to adapt to really high standards you're sharing with us. wish me luck and thank you veryyyy much!!!
Im trying to sell inside the company I work at, but we just tried to open two models today and had two separate issues:: 1. Fasade model. IFC2x3 file that didn't failed to load about 40% of the model. 2. Elevator model. IFC4 file that loaded geometry in two separate locations. The one in 0,0,0 was probably a support layer of lines to create snap points, and the main geometry was placed up and to the side by quite some distance. These problems did not occur in Dalux and Solibri. No idea how that happened, and it wasn't the greatest demo I could give my boss..! Any clues what this could be and how to fix it?
Hey Edvard! It's great to hear you trying to promote Bonsai man, I love it! Are you still facing this issues with the latest versions? I sent you a message on Linkedin, let's have a chat and see exactly what this is about.
Kinda off-topic but the music you credited is not the music playing in the background. I really like this chill piano tune and I'd love to know the title and the artist if I could :)
Yes it is :) Just imagine having some funds for BlenderBiM, how quick it could become a tool on par with other commercial ones. It’s too bad just few want to support the initiative.
Definitely didn't disappoint. Even after a year, the content of this video is still very useful. Thank you both.
Glad you enjoyed it! Are the models exported from Revit not good enough? Are you exporting them yourself or you get them delivered?

Wow, it's so cool to read this! I'm really happy it helped you!
Don’t apologize better too long than too short. I’ve learned at least new things that i didn’t know.
So good to hear that! Really happy you find this helpful!
Quality content. Complaining about Revit - always thumbs up!
Thank you!

@@DionMoult is it possible to optimize the meshes in blender (for example using limited dissolve) and export it as an optimized IFC file?
@@danialsoozani if the original data is mesh-based, then absolutely yes. Note we don't "export", we work with IFC natively, so you'd "save as" :)

Sorry I do not know what the song is then. I mixed them up but don't have a clue what was the right one at that time.

I'll gladly learn how to create / import / edit custom profiles for beams and columns.
