It reminds me of the witches' prophecy in Macbeth that he would not be killed by any man born of a woman. This version has really grown on me. At this point in the books, Eowyn was resolute and wanted to die in a fitting way. She was suffering from severe depression and the death of her uncle sent her over the edge. Much like Theoden at Helm's Deep, she's accepted death and wishes to face it head on, standing tall in front of it's incarnation. Haven’t seen this is ages but this sequence is a lot better than I remembered.
0:38 I AM SKELATOR! I DARE ANYTHING!
This actually predates Skeletor, so if anything Skeletor sounds like the Rankin-Bass Witch-King than the other way around.
it's amazing what the internet can do
Tengo una listita de dibujos animados que vi de chico y escenas que recuerdo, que se perdieron, y cada tanto reaparece alguno de esta manera. Por ejemplo, me pasó con la serie bravestar.
Estaba en español
@@urielsidneydiazvelarde8736 no estoy seguro, y no he podido encontrarlo completo
Yo la vi por TVN a comienzos de los 90s y aluciné
Skeletor was nice enough to voice act the Witch King; how kind.. I mean EVIL of him 😂
Nope, that's Mr. Slate from The Flintstones.
I was not expecting the Witch King to sound like robot Skeletor
Eowyn is peak waifu material.
Yet Aragorn ditch her. But hey it was aragorn, and he married a goddess.
@@JonJon-pj9ly There's no goddesses in LOTR. There's only one God, and that's Eru Illuvatar.
@@HolyknightVader999 I was being obviously ironic. I know there are no godesses, but Arwen ranks are higher than Eowyns, she was not only an elf, but also descendent of a maiar.
Anime Éowyn will return.
@@HolyknightVader999 Yes, and I intensely dislike the notion by some people who said he gave Gollum an invisible kick into the Fires of Doom. He may as well have done that to Frodo, for their attitude. Perhaps they're Morgoth worshippers?
I like how Angmar just out-gassed upon death.
If only John Hurt voiced him like The Horned King it would’ve been better
They were voiced by the same guy?!?! Agh that's so dissapointing, that would have made this scene so legendary
Funny, I was thinking of him when I heard Gollum's voice.
@Link0304 No witch king was John Stephenson.
With no doubt, a timeless classic
"I am no Man" is awesome don't get me wrong, but I like that this version is closer to the book.
The witch king's mount is pretty cool, better suited to the original description than the movie version.
Its literally a Pteranodon
Perhaps, but I can’t take it’s goofy eyes and mouth seriously.
@@carlosrubio130 😂😂😂😂
"No living autobot can hinder me!"
Arcee: "I missed the part where that's my problem!"
Optimus: Huffer? What are you doing?
(The Witch King's actor played Huffer and Thundercracker)
This version has really grown on me. At this point in the books, Eowyn was resolute and wanted to die in a fitting way. She was suffering from severe depression and the death of her uncle sent her over the edge. Much like Theoden at Helm's Deep, she's accepted death and wishes to face it head on, standing tall in front of it's incarnation. Though it's certainly not perfect, I prefer it over Jackson's version of the scene, and his whole take on Eowyn's character, which didn't translate well into the screen in my opinion.
One of the things Jackson got so wrong, the other glaring example was Faramir unfortunately.
That's a good point. It's not so bad as his butchery of Faramir, so I hadn't really considered it, but you're quite right.
@@balrogthane It's painful. And the way they justify it in interviews makes it even worse.
Nah its perfect the only thing is I wish it was more interaction between her and merry
Dude what? Everything was better in the Jackson Version. The witchking looked dogshit in this one and was goofey animated..
I just love her voice lines. And the way she hits her shield with the sword as she is challenging Witch-King. Man what a badass gesture!
she flashed that rathalos right out of the sky what a pro
Hopefully she carves a Rathalos Mantle.
This is surprisingly well animated.
I love how everyone in this movie speaks in paragraphs, even mid-battle.
i like how the ENTIRE battlefield stops for this one fight
Jesus, did they spend half the budget on her hair animation? 0:51 1:55 2:10 the movement is amazing for 1979
Finally, Eowyn as she Should have been represented in the films.
There are a lot of animes that don't have such fluid and beautiful hair animation.
I love that the creative decision was made to have the actual sound of a deflating balloon play when the witch king died.
Just the way Tolkien intended as he wrote in the book the following passage:
"Pssssssssssht."
“It’s; it’s empty! Just like a balloon!” 🎈
My boy got deflated!
like they mixed this epic stuff but someone thought they had to have "typical late 70s cartoon sound effects" from time to time.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂@@sifuhotman1300
Skeletor was a good voice-actor
Eowyn is adorable
Eowyn’s fight with the Witch King is so badass just like in the LOTR trilogy and the books!
Eowyn: You look upon a woman!
Witch King: Ah, okay. Boys, get her!
Hermoso, el cabello de Eowyn :)
As fun as this movie is, I wish that Ralph Bakshi had made his 'Lord of the Rings Part 2' animated film.
At last, the captain of the Nazgul portrayed just as Tolkien described him. It is well known that the bitch king of Angmar had a voice that, and I quote "Made all the Rohirrim laugh", as well as having a random crown floating above his laser eyes. Never give an evil sorcerer a magic ring.
The crown and eyes are book accurate. When he takes off his hood, He’s wearing a crown but his head is invisible so you just see it floating with the glow of his eyes beneath.
Ah yes, the Witch King of Skeletor
I think Eowyn looks super cute and brave, why is it that some people get mad at strong women in movies?
eowyn is bae
In this version, and for me in the movies as well.
Henceforth, "Baeonwyn"?
@@taokenhanma2083 No, not in the movies...
@@Lupain damn 😂
When is she not?
This animated movie and Peter Jackson's blockbuster film. They both have a badass Eyowen.
Eowyn is so amazing here
"...no living man may hinder me."
Me: "Bro, are you in a metal tunnel somewhere? Do something about the echo."
When Witch King speaks, i think of Skeletor and Papyrus' "NYE HE HE HE ... HE!"
Still better then what Amazon is doing to the franchise
Is it the same studio that animated the Last Unicorn, because I feel like I recognise that style.
The naz-gul 🤣 like an angry seagul that was denied chips.
ruclips.net/video/qfIRHREMgm4/видео.html spare chippies anyone?
legend has it that the Witchking of Angmar to this day haunts a chipshop in Exeter in such guise
We have got to bring back this style of fantasy back into this day and age. Honestly.
The Witch King sounds like Skeletor and a Dalek had a baby
I didn't know Eowyn had a sword like Link that shot enemyy beams.
I kept waiting for The Witch King to say that He-Man has no chance against him.
Still better than any scene in the Rings of Power abomination
“I’ll get you next time He-man!!”
“I am no He-man!”
I love the Rankin and Bass animation style, Eowyn looks awesome in this!
This is another reason why the animated version is better than the live action one.
True
Yeah, it's better than the live action....the rings of power live action. If you compare this to the peter jackson return of the king is just pathetic😂
