So amazing. I asked my provider how to get the advanced menu with the "Events" and she didn't know what I was talking about. This video answered all of my questions about how to get the advanced options on my 11! Uncle Nicko, you're the BOMB!
Great video for getting back into clinical settings. Didn't realize clinical settings, available when you first powered on the device, were different from the settings you have access to after initial set up. Thank you, Nick, for an extremely informative video. This is all new to me, and I did just join the group "CPAP Reviews." I just got the Resmed 11 in Aug. 2022, and right now the pressure varies in such a way that I can hardly sleep at night. The sleep center that diagnosed me is so overloaded by recalls, supply chain problems, COVID, and staff shortages that I won't have a follow up appointment until November. Your videos are a godsend, especially this tutorial! Looking forward to great things from you. Also thanks for the outtakes at the end🤣🤣🤣

Thanks Nick. I am in my first week with AS11, and going crazy with, can’t fall asleep, tried auto vs manual, nasal vs pillow, (small, med, large size), ramp on, ramp off, ramp time, etc. Will need to watch your video a few more times, but very helpful.

Aww Nicko, you're a life saver! Bought a $110 F30i the other day because I have a nasty cold and couldn't breathe through my nose. BUT, I could not stop the leaks from around the mask. Your video led me to lower the pressure and eureka!! My "events per hour" were around 1, so I wasn't worried about lowering it, in fact I felt a lot more comfortable. Now, All is well. Thanks for all you do!!
Now that my cold is gone and I'm back to the nasal pillow, I was having a problem with my mouth opening. My doc raised the pressure on the low end of the pressure range, and thankfully, that's solved. I am NOT going to wear a chin strap!! 😡 Finally 'MyAir' says my mask seal is good. CPAPS, rather fussy creatures aren't they? 😒
You can get into clinical setting by pressing two fingers at any place on the screen. They don't have to be on the blue and purple icon.

Thank you so much for such an informative video! I got my air sense 11 about 3 months ago and got ZERO instructions about anything other than the videos and info that came with the machine from the company. I had to figure out from Facebook groups about taping my mouth shut and now I think I will try fooling around with the pressure settings. I am def sleeping much better since getting the machine but I am still getting woken up at night 1-2 times I think because of the pressure changes now that I have the mask situation under control. I am going for my 2 sleep study coming this Sunday and my Doctor (or Pulmonologist) will probably recommend the ResMed 11, this video will help me tweak my settings, unless they know of a way to lock me out.
I agree about the ''for her'' name for the algorithm, some of my patients could benefit regardless of gender.
I had my clinical pressures set-by the technician-at 6 and 15. I felt like I was suffocating at 6. Your awesome tutorial is exactly what I needed in order to bump the minimum pressure to 8.
Settings are ordered by a Pulmonologist (doctor) and placed on the machine by a Respiratory Therapist.

Doctors do not want me changing my pressure. But if I want to do it their way, I have to book an appointment with my sleep doctor, wait to see them, get a new prescription, and take the machine to my DME who will make the change for me. I might also be asked to do a new sleep study and/or purchase a new mask. All of this can cost a lot of money and months. Meanwhile, I am asked to try and sleep without any change to my current therapy. I think many people suffer and die waiting for others to help them do what the doctor says, and waiting for doctors.

I agree, your videos have made using my AS11 easier to understand and use. And help my wife get past her first try with a loaner AS 10 our med provider uses to see if CPAP works and if so what settings to set her permanent cpap to. She went from 1.5 hrs first night to about 8 on second night after using what your videos taught. Thank you very much.!

Geez Nicko, I believe you’ve gone and made the Gold Standard of CPAP videos. Well done. And, while I’m here, I’ll share this:
Sometime back, I dialed in my pressure range settings following one of your tutorial formats. (My sleep doc had kindly set a nightly hurricane facial on my new machine, sporting numerous mask leaks). Upon doing so, I managed to successfully reduce my hourly apneas to less than 1 per hour… but that’s misleading. When I checked my total hours of actual sleep, not including putting on the mask and lying there, it was generally “not optimal”- 4 ish. Also, it wasn’t immediately intuitive to me, but the less time spent actually sleeping, the lower the apneas per hour which looks good at first blush. However, more hours of actual sleep, the higher the apnea events per hour- hopefully under 5, and closer to an optimal night of sleep. So, currently, I hover around the low 2’s with 7 hours or more in the rack utilizing minimum mask pressure. Bill

Brand new to CPAP....I HATE it, but I need it. As soon as I FINALLY drift off towards sleep, my snoring and pressure change jolts me awake. I CANNOT fall asleep with the mask on.
Change your ramp settings! Auto has usually worked for me however if you fall asleep in about the same time set the minutes for a little less than what time it takes for you to fall asleep. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your full tutorial! Provider had locked down my wife's new AirSense 11 to the Basic interface with Auto Start on but Auto Stop off. So happy to have the Advanced interface back like the AirSense 10 that was replaced.

I was using the air min travel machine and then back to my DS1 after I removed the fan casing with foam and put one back in without foam. Yesterday got my air sense 11. Out of these machines it definitely is the best I have ever used so far. The only complaint I have is no data given about the average pressure used or the 90% pressure used. But the AHI numbers were 0.2 on it last night. The other machines about 2 to 3. No dry mouth or nose either. Very impress with this machine so far.
Super helpful! I only just started using my machine last month. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate OSA (14.2 AHI). So far, therapy is going great and my average AHI is under 3. Love your videos!

Hi Niko, great video. I have a question. By the time I've been on the machine 5 hours or more the pressure is ramped up so much, it's blowing the pillow out of my nose. How do I stop it from reaching hurricane for winds?

You can set the max range....if 20 is too high and it's causing issues try the max at 17 or 18.

I just got my cpap package in the mail after waiting FOREVER..I have been so excited to get it and use it and have this life changing sleep..but the reality has been frustrating. First, these masks that go over your head and face are a huge pain...just my luck I can't even sleep for free. I told my husband I'm so boujie and high maintenance, even me sleeping is thousands of dollars LOL. The head piece part package said M for medium, but the actual head piece says SM..so I had to call today to order a medium in 5-7 business days. I got the dream wear full face mask, but the nasal "pillow" doesn't seal under my nose and air gets out annoying the hell out of me. But aside from that, which is hopefully just a sizing issue, I'm glad I found this video talking about adjusting the pressure..because it's bad enough to have this stupid thing over your head and face, but at certain points I feel like I'm breathing through THICK air and can't breathe, and so I rip the stupid thing off..It's been two nights since I got it, and I haven't been able to wear it for more than a couple hours. I'm REALLY hoping I can get used to this because my symptoms from sleep apnea are awful.
Just helped me dial in my 11. 20 was way too high for me. Felt like I was being blown away. I set it to 12 till I get use to using it. Then may ramp it back up. Thanks

LOVE your videos.. Question??? I NOW have the ResMed Airsense 11, set to 'Auto for Her"... How can I view what pressures that my machine used during my sleep? ... I PREVIOUSLY had the ResMed Airsense 10 for her, and immediately in the morning I was able to see what range of pressures I used during my sleep.

I have been using the Resmed Airsense 11 for a year now and the company I use has never offered to change the settings. They have the max at 15. My AHI is .5. Based on your advice I need to reduce my max pressure quite a bit.

Firstly thank you for all your videos and the knowledge you bring to everyone! I'm a fairly new subricber and I am enjoying all of your vids since I'm still pretty new to the whole CPAP. Now my question is you said that it's harder to maintain the humidification in the colder months, so would a tube sleeve work for this? I have looked at them before but thought they were kind of gimmicky.

There's many of those tube covers and some are better than others and they can help a bit but your best bet is a heated tube system. How do you connect it to internet (instead of airplane mode)? Great video!
G'day mig, you can't 'connect to the internet' as such. The device has a 'cellular modem' which will be automatically connected whenever your device is not in 'airplane mode'. Once connected your device will automatically send your data to ResMed servers at the end of each session. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. If only our medical providers and CPAP providers would provide us this information upon starting therapy, one might be able to adjust to the machine. I’m on month six still don’t have the correct mask now I’m wondering if it’s just the pressure settings . I do have the air sense 11. I’m gonna play around with my settings now that I know I can actually change the settings …I’m wondering why no mask works for me and I can barely get through 2, 3, or four hours of therapy …six months with no help from the medical profession …and one having to turn to RUclips is pretty pitiful but now at least I know that the control is in my hands.
When the doc set me up on 12 to 18 cm my mask would blow off at 16 so I hacked the setup and changed it to 13.5 to 15 and have been sleeping like a baby. Usually stays below 14 but pops up when my sinuses are all clogged up and keeps my AHI below 1.5. So I Would say a narrow, very narrow range of Auto CPAP works but a large range such as 6 to 20 is too large.

Nick, Thanks. Great information. However, you did explain the Autoset options, (Autoset, and Autoset for Her), but you did not explain the CPAP option. I am have trouble with snoring while wearing my nasal mask with chin strap. I believe the autoset feature is allowing to low if air pressure at times which allows me to snore. Bugs my wife. What does the CPAP option do? Does it allow for constant pressure?
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I just received my AirSense11 and I am one of those who fools with settings to find what works best for me. (Doctor/nurse's daugther and academic librarian who likes to know how things work!) Just as a quick aside, I wrote to Medistrom and they will have cable/adaptor/cords for the AirSense11 in about 6 weeks (you probably already know this) for their Pilot24 Lite. I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe and we have fairly frequent power outages - just had one all night the this week - and I like to leave my battery connected to my machine at all times. I have never used a heated hose and have always just turned off the humidifier to get the most battery time. I'll have to figure out how to turn off the hose heat and humidifier during a power outage on the new machine or just revert back to a standard hose. Ideas? Again, thanks so much - love your videos!
BTW - I've used CPAPs for at least 25 years...what advances!
