I am surprised in the description of Toronto's economy, they didn't mention "Finance", considering it is one it's top industries, as well as the top2-5 tallest building are bank headquarters. I would have also liked to have known what definition of "Skyscraper" they are using, since 150 metres vs 200 metres can make a significant difference in ranking

I’m Thai and working in KL. 7 years ago KL smaller than Bangkok but nowadays KL is really bigger city. Jakata and manila also big city and beautiful but poor public transportation. Hopefully they fixed traffic jam in the town.

@@myza21 true unfortunately Cambodia is constructing a twin tower with 500 meter high which is tallest than petronas tower but the history made and the stunning beauty of old petronas tower will always be love by many people. Love that tower hope Philippines can build iconic tower too.
Never expected my country 🇵🇭 is on the list. And more surprisingly Manila has more skyscrapers than Jakarta, KL, and Bangkok. But proud of all ASEAN cities who made it on the list too.

Yes, the Metropolitan Manila (officially known as National Capital Region) might be composed of 16 seperate cities and 1 municipality, but the entire metropolitan region is acting like a single unified city despite lacking a centralized regional government and having seperate local government units... The Metropolitan Manila is like the Japanese de-facto capital city, the Tokyo Metropolis... You see, Tokyo is not really a single city, and well, just like Manila, it was originally not a unified city... It is composed of 62 municipalities, 24 wards, 26 cities, 8 villages, and 5 towns... Tokyo’s unification into a single metropolitan city started when the population of the coastal city of Eto started to grow, and of course, as population grows, the demand for land also started to rise significantly, that there was not enough room to accomodate all of Eto’s population... And so, their government made a move by absorbing ALL of its larger but lesser populated bordering cities and municipalities into Eto... And later on, as the population kept growing, the demand for land also kept rising, and then, the now larger city of Edo (notice the change in spelling) started to make another move, this time, not by absorbing bordering towns, but by merging with all of its neighboring cities, municipalities, and wards, which later on, turned out to be the Tokyo City (and later on Tokyo Metropolis), and also later on became the de-facto capital of the Empire of Japan... Almost the same thing with Metro Manila, except that most of Metro Manila are formerly part of the Rizal province until breaking away and formally forming its own metropolitan region during the Marcos Era, with the then First Lady Imelda Marcos acting as the Governor... But after the Marcos Era, the title “governor” has been removed from Metro Manila, and the region has since then been governed in a decentralized form... That’s the only thing that differs Metropolitan Manila and Tokyo... But if you’re going to analyze the situation, we might once again have our own governor in the future, and we might soon completely unite into a single mteropolitan city with a unified and centralized regional government (just like Tokyo)...
By the way, a little fun fact, Tokyo got its name from the Japanese word “Tobu” which means eastern, and “Kyo” which means capital, so Tokyo literally mean “eastern capital”, and well, its quite a big coincedence that all of the letters in the word Tokyo can also be found on the name of the former capital, Kyoto, which by the way, got its name from the Japanese word “Kyo” which again, means capital, and “Toshi”, which means city, so it literally means “capital city”... So yep, even though Tokyo and Kyoto are anagrams, their names aren’t really connected with each other, Tokyo’s name is not derived from the name Kyoto...

For example you could live in Discovery Bay, which is a short ferry ride away from central HK. The best thing about HK is you can have best of both worlds. City bustle n hustle and quiet secluded areas (e.g. beaches) are only 30mins apart.

But I love small towns in China. On the outskirt of Shanghai, there's Suzhou, a very unique small town, very peaceful. Walking around the old parts of Shanghai is very nice, clean, green, and safe as well.

It's only between Manila and Toronto. Most areas in Canada are already developed. I think overall Canada still have more skyscrapers since other parts of Philippines especially in provinces are not developed yet.

Eventhough Manila has a limited 300+m and no iconic building but Manila has a lot of 150+m skyscrapers that made them on top 11.

More CBDs are being constructed along Manila Bay from Pasay to Navotas area, planned CBDs beside the Laguna Bay Expressway from Muntinlupa to Taguig/Pasig areas. High rise bldgs are now being constructed in Alabang, Quezon City Business Triangle, Parklinks, and Buendia close to Roxas boulevard. Expect Metro Manila to be top 6 in the list by 2030 - 2035.

Asean infrastructure is more modern than America's. The United States is falling behind....spending to much money on the military. That being said, there is a premium of space in Asean countries, that coupled with large populations means building "up" is the best way to utilize the available land. Cities in the U.S. have room to expand out into the surrounding countryside. Dubai, on the otherhand, has the room to expand out, they are just ahowing off😉

@@gogoalakazam2973 Not easy for a 'small' city such as KL or even Singapore to be on par with NYC.
KL isn't an influential financial hub to start with. I mean small because both Singapore or KL don't have a significant population to boost a number of skyscraper as many as NYC or HK.
Moreover, as KL area begins to witness limited land to develop, the government and developers will build large projects outside KL, for example PJ or Shah Alam.
For HK, they have become what they are today because of a very limited land plus being a major financial hub and gateway to China.

Sad to say that the Manila mentioned here is Metropolitan Manila not Manila City. Metro Manila is comprised of 16 cities and 1 municipality including Manila City. Technically, it is a region and is also known as the National Capital Region.
Tbh most of the records in the video were NCR inlcuding China's city..
To be fair, Manila City is very small compared to other major cities listed here so including all the cities in the metro is just fair.
