Great Experience. The reason for holding your case under 221g is due to visiting few countries and they wanted to have administrative or security checks before they approve your visa. Nice that more and more youtubers are getting US Visa approved and travelling US. Congrats!

US Visa is the hardest to get for Indians.
I lost a dream opportunity of going to New York City for at least 2 weeks as a fully sponsored trip from my Company Harley Davidson India for work purpose in 2019 😢
I went to the US embassy and did very well in interview process. But the lady just asked a few questions related to Purpose, place and then at last she asked for my salary package and rejected me by saying Sorry we can't proceed for now. Please try again later.
I remember correctly, they were only hardly accepting VISA request of 2 people out of 10.
I felt very sad for the lost opportunity for a long time. But at last forgot and moved On 😊

Admiration processing is common form happens to majority of Indians who travelled conflict zones or if you are a Muslim, its not a rejection just extra checks. And mostly anyone get into to this processing mostly will get a Visa eventually. But taking passport i wasn't aware... If U live in western would they don't take passport and admin process takes max 1 month. If you applying from your native country it can be different. I been through this process.

Standing in line for US visa was one of the tiring and humiliating experience I have faced while travelling. Standing in hot sun of Chennai for 2hrs and then to see some of the people crying when their visa got rejected was heart breaking. A lady who wanted to visit US for a wedding got her visa rejected but her entire family had visa! She was bawling her eyes out. Then immigration during first visit was another humiliation, guy asked me all weird questions. When I was visiting fourth time and during Trump years, immigration asked me "what guarantee is there that you will return back to India?" I did not take a minute and replied. "I have seen how you treat brown people in your country. What makes you think I want to stay in US". He looked at me for a minute and put the stamp and said "welcome to US"

If you have traveled to US friendly countries such as Europe and UK etc it will be a plus. Also I used to work for a US multinational media company which was an advantage I had. If you work for a US MNC it’s much easier to get US visa.

221(g) is acceptance in a way. It is advance processing as they think whether your profession or field of education is sensitive to country defense. If you are a software engineer in Infosys, you cannot harm anyone. If you are a Radar or satellite engineer, then you have some edge on sensitive technology. If you work at say ISRO, you would get 221(g) for sure.

221(g) is a special provision introduced after 9/11. This is special processing in which visa clearence is received directly from Washington after clearence from security agencies. Students and professional working in sensitive areas (Chemical engineering, space and satellite) receive it and also people who have been to sensitive areas. Even if you go to top university in US at full tuition scholarship, you can get 221(g). Only i you have terrorist links, then only it gets rejected.
Iranian people have to get visa everytime they enter US. But US is still is very understanding in terms of visa issuance. Once I had an accident in US and I had surgeries. My parents did not even had time to get bank statments or anything out of bank, they luckily got visa appointment for 2 days later. Visa officer asked them "Why you want to visit US" and they told exact thing. No question asked, visa officer immediately approved the case. In Canada/Europe/UK, my parents visa would have been rejected since they did not had funds or time to even arrange funds.
