I know a person who went to US on a tourist visa and overstayed and worked illegally for 10 years, until he was assaulted by a US citizen who robbed the gas station that he was working illegally. The guy applied for U visa as a viticm of crime and got his Green card through that process, recently he became a US citizen.

they all say that to get the visa, if you say you will stay after studies, your visa will be rejected because it indicates that the applicant does not have pure intentions to study and rather they are using study visa to simply enter the country.
