I lost my Dad last week and tonight, as I finished writing his eulogy for his service this Saturday, I'm taking a moment to listen to music for some comfort. This is my go-too tune. God I love this song!....Always have....... If you've still got your folks keep making memories and if they've passed on, cherish what you've got to hold on to. Cheers

I remember rioting my fathers eulogy 18 year old scotch Irish ☘️pub Beatles cover Band December 18 2004 I guess it was December 20 I had arrived in Bangkok the previous day and was headed to Phuket for a month for business.. I made a night of it I imagined that my old man was with me and we did our best to enjoy ourselves in boring old Bangkok. Circumstances changed my itinerary and I’d put off Phuket for a week I ended up in Phnom Penh On Christmas Day. PP was essentially off the grid in 04. Boxing Day I woke up to pounding on my door. Pickled and not lone I rod the scene like Hunter The mason taking advice from Lazlo. The Fear and Loathing in Cambodia was took 5 years to manifest but was definitely in a Gonzo mode. A week later I was under the gun and my deadline for my eulogy speech was just a knot wound tight inside my sweaty body. The bottle of Macallom 18 was still with me a duty free indulgence. Ice and Valium completed the unraveling of that knot that was affecting my judgement and values and my existence. The house dog a fan and large can lemon scented bug spray. The table was the cross cut of some rare tree. It was covered with hard translucent resign that made it sticky regardless of it cleanliness. My hosts bid goodnight as I summed up my fathers life in words and absentia. Scotch has a particular buzz. Tequila has this distinction though the feeling or high is no t similar has. Diazapans have a long half life and 72 to leave you body. Son 2-3 days of taking 2-3 tini blue pills the math is easy unless your on diazapans. One of the universes little pranks. My conscious arch and emotional fuel didn’t allow for any nonsense. And I was surrounded in nonsense. My ADD and additions were n match to $200 18 year old scotch and 10 cent 10 milligram Valium.. My muse was a Thai mutt that only spoke Thai. That worked out fine as she soon fell asleep at my feet.

Songs like Wiser Time were the soundtrack of my twenties during the nineties. Driving down a lonely stretch of road at 3 A.M. Coming from whatever. Going to who the heck cares. This song, and many others like this one, playing on the radio. Not a care in the world. My whole future ahead of me just beyond those headlights. I wish I could go back.

this song is severely underrated. It is my fave song from them. like how the song begins with the lyrics "No time left now for shame Horizon behind me, no more pain", then the video shows nothing but miles of endless roads. ive always felt many comforts in the vastness of the open road, its a place to lose and shed away the burdens of various pains. to clear your mind and cleanse your soul. to rediscover what many have yet to discover.

Bruce Kaphan is perhaps the best pedal steel guitarist in the world. Everything he touches is golden. Hardly anyone - even in the pedal steel community - know of him as he tends not do much trad ‘country’ stuff. But his CV includes Jellyfish, Jewel, David Byrne, Thomas Dolby, American Music Club, Sheryl Crow etc. That speaks volumes about his ability. His playing on this track is absolute perfection.

This album is great road trip music. Right up there with the Allman Brothers. Back when I used to do a lot of winter fishing and smoking of weed, I'd listen to my Jeff Beck double cassette of "Blow By Blow" and "Wired" as I heading out in the evening on the (mostly) vacant and dark highway on my way to my fishing destination. Cold and dark outside, rain coming down, wipers on, heater on, hot coffee beside me, plenty of cigarettes, lots of road snacks, half a doobie, the highway (mostly) to myself, and Jeff Beck blasting from the stereo. Great memories.

    Glory beyond our reach

Southern Harmony is a classic album. Just an FYI Wiser Time is on the equally excellent album Amorica.

I love this group. I was never into them from the beginning...i was heavily into Saxon, Maiden, Purple Sabbath, Led Zep was is still the biggest to me...i love Rush, the Allman bros band, Free, Bad Company Skynyrds, The Eagles, all those 70s bands were awesome..the 80s were great as well...so many bands then specially late 80s..Badlands, Great White, i dont care what they say but Kingdom Come rocks as well...I like that they got this 70s Rock and Roll influenced...Heavy/bluesy part Metal Rock and Roll!!!! If you're into Blues rock...buy the Black Crowes Greatest Hits...also Listen BADLANDS Highwire, Devils stomp, The River, JAKE E. LEE and Ray Gillen...🌠🌠🌠🌠

That's normal for our American bands. Unlike British, Canadian and Australian bands, we are lucky if our band's stay together more than 3 or 4 years.
