Our First Time at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground at Disney World - RV Newbies

  • We are enjoying our trip to Florida and are leaving the Tampa RV Supershow and heading to Disney World!! We will be camping for the first time at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and are so excited!!
We are RV newbies and still learning... we stop on our way there to dump the tanks and make a mess / mistake... YUCK!!!
But on to happier places at WDW. We drive the short hour-ish trip from Tampa to Orlando and arrive at our campsite. Set up is quick in a small rig like we have... we just love that! We are in the campervan/pop-up camper loop and this is the other great thing about a small rig... we save $30 each night staying in this area!! I will take it!! We will show you around our campsite, the comfort station that is right across from our campsite and the loooooong wait for a bus to Animal Kingdom.

Just a tip, you should always fill your black tank before dumping (helps to get everything out) and if possible rinse at least once. Then empty your grey after to get rid of the remnants from the black. I always rinse my tanks a couple of times when I have full hook ups just because I can. Helps prevent any smells.

  • @stratman50th

Some unsolicited advice, when it comes to the black tank, water is your friend. After you dump, put a few gallons of fresh in the black tank. That will help keep it clean(ish).

Water hook up tip...get a 90 deg elbow for your rig at the hose connection as it will take the weight off the fitting. Also, put your filter closer to the water tap, that will also take the weight off your water connection fitting. And we love camping at the Fort! It’s just the best!

#1. Fort Wilderness is in our top two campgrounds in all our travels!! It's up there with the Mt Rushmore KOA. They're both seriously that good!
#2. Not on your knees, Jason! Never empty the tanks on your knees!!
#3 Not sure if you know this on the vlogging/editing end: you can select where the ads interrupt, but they remove about 2-3 seconds of speech as they cut from your video to commercial back to your video. So maybe put a couple seconds of overlay music & video at the ad stop.

You are definitely providing excellent experience with your B+. It was great to show the tank dumps and hookups. Would be great for future content with other general everyday life in your RV such as use of AC, cooking, use of the water pump, and dealing with water containment with the shower curtain. For your water pressure regulator, let me add a little suggestion. You would be well advised to put a pressure regulator right on the hose bib, before your hose...not after your hose. When I first got my RV, I did it the way you did...hose bib => hose => regulator => filter => RV. Guess what happened? The high PSI at the park we were at blew up my hose! So, best to regulate your pressure before it goes into the hose. One more thing, if you haven’t been doing it, make sure you sanitize your hose bib BEFORE you attach anything. The folks before you may have hooked up their black tank flush hose to that very same hose bib, so spray it down a bit with a disinfectant like Clorox or Lysol before connecting, and please, use a dedicated hose for fresh water and a separate hose for black tank flush (you probably already know it, but some folks don’t).

Working on anything from windshields to glasses, shaving cream is known for creating a protective barrier that protects glass from fogging up. All you need to do is use a dab of it on your lenses, rub across your glasses with a dry towel, and wipe down

We just visited Fort Wilderness Campground and would not come back. Out of the many videos discussing the property they don’t really highlight just how far apart things like pools are. Golf cart rentals are 69$ a day on top of very expensive campsites. You could stay at a hotel on property and have easy access to pools and food. Don’t get me wrong we love to camp but we would not recommend camping here. We are in fact surprised at how many people love it here. Disney itself was wonderful as always but the campground is way overpriced and unless you add on one of those carts it makes it impossible to get to amenities easily.... endless bus waiting...little signage.... even things like the luggage hold... our grown daughters flew in to meet us. So when leaving we had their luggage picked up and left at the desk for when they were going to leave. When they got back from Magic Kingdom the luggage was sitting outside behind a bench..... yep in the wide open...thankfully our college students laptop was not stolen.

Fort Wilderness is cool but way overpriced. Then it is Disney. The best benefit to me was being able to reserve rides further out than normal using your Disney pass. It was the only way to get on the Avatar ride when it first opened without waiting half your day. Its funny you mention the beer rule. I am not sure if its a Florida rule or just certain Counties that stick to that. I live in Florida and never come across it, still its not a time I would typically be buying beer LOL. I do remember in PA they had some weird rules about buying beer.

Do they have water hoses there to flush the tanks after you dump? Hope you get a bucket for your pooper hose even with rinsing they can get nasty over time. We have tubs/buckets for all the hoses! Also love my zero gravity hose as well its amazing!

Yes I do have hoses exclusively for black tank flush. I haven’t used it yet but I do like the idea of designating its own tote! Makes sense...lol! Thank you for the tip! 👍

Just a heads up your statistics are wrong. Fort Wilderness is 799 Acres. Walt Disney World just Walt Disney World is 27,000 Acres it is the size of Manhattan Sono Fort Wilderness is not bigger than Walt Disney World

I noticed you have an app for your tanks, What app is that?

      @EECCTravels  3 года назад +1

Yes its the RVMaster app. We can pair right to the RVs control panel and get the same display (on our phone) and so we can control everything from our phone! It’s really convenient and cool!
