Hey everybody, it's Dr. Gavin over at Carolina Active Health. The weather is warming up lately, and we've had a lot of patients coming in who are getting back into running. I wanted to review one of our favorite exercises to give runners.
    Four-Way Step-Up:
You're going to start on an elevated surface like a step platform. With one leg on the outside of the step platform, the opposite leg will be stepping down for each rep. You will start the exercise by stepping down in front of you then you will come back to the start position. You will then do the same motion stepping to the side, stepping back, and then stepping back and across to the other side.
This exercise works single leg coordination, and stability, and helps work with running step-off movement. A good way to make the exercise more challenging is by adding more weight, and speed, and changing up the tempo So, if you're getting back into running, give that a shot. For further details on how to perform the exercise please refer to our video where we break it down.
If you have any troubles otherwise, come see us and we'll get you moving again too.
