    A recent Reolink experience: We had a break-in at our shop recently, and the 523WA outside followed the car and got a clear view of the license plate, as well as some of the burglars' faces! It did its job when it mattered.

    I was hoping Ring will be introducing new 2K and 4K cameras as well as a newly enhanced Base Station at CES 2024. I don’t understand why Ring is doing nothing to at least catch up to Eufy and Reolink? They have Amazon’s assets behind them. They will continue to fall behind further unless they start competing with new, innovative products.

    hey I just started watching your videos. High quality stuff, the information is very appreciated. I was wondering if you could give me some advice. We recently bought a house and I started planning my video system. Currently, we only have 1 camera. It's the Tapo C120. I really like it.. it's good quality and the Android app works well too, however I noticed there is no Windows application and no plans for supporting Windows in the future. I started using Agent DVR on Windows and it works fairly well, but I would like the option of having a native application as well. Can you recommend any smart video systems that 1] have native Windows apps (last time I checked, the Google systems did not have this) and 2] integrate well with some other home security devices, like motions detectors/vibration detectors. Thanks in advance!

    Reolink POE is probably in my future this year to replace Eufy. I love my Eufy setup, but i want wired for the long term. As I get older, I don't want to climb a ladder to pull down cameras to charge them, nor do I trust solar enough due to Michigan cloudy winters. Though the cam batteries do last through the winter if I charge them just before it gets too cold.
    I'm hopeful that you will review Reolink's base station setup. I'm also interested in Zosi to consider.

    Man reolink is really stepping up their game because my auntie has the argus pro 3 and when she first got it the app was horrible and the Wi-Fi connection was horrible loading the app took forever. And then we had like a really big storm and her camera got water all inside of it I don't know how that happened but it got filled with water. But reolink sent me over a new camera after I told them about what happened and since then I've noticed the app experience so much better than what it used to be everything's quick and snappy even the footage looks better now, so I don't know what they did.

    I picked up one of the new wireless NVRs last week. I have had no end if issues keeping our Doorbell WiFi conneced to the network, and while you can scroll back through the footage of the SDcard its less than ideal to run it 24/7. That's all solved now wit the new NVR, it never loses signal and constantly records, plus I was able to move my POE camers over to it via the wired network like the 32ch NVR does.
    I had planned to build a BlueIris setup, but for the money this was a great investment especially with the holiday sale price.

      @@LifeHackster Would be nice. Another request I personally have would be more higher zoom options, I live on a pretty big property where I could make use of up to 10x zoom easily. Unfortunately Reolink is missing a few options here, we have a 5x optical zoom bullet cam, would be good with a 10x option and some options for PTZ camera, 10x would be a good starting ground with something that fuses together TrackMix duo cam (wide+telephoto) functionality with the 16x optical zoom PTZ camera and allows guard functionality with zoom tracking and better/faster zoom. I guess a new highend PTZ camera in other words with at least 10x optical zoom would be an instant buy for me.

    Wow 2024 should be a good year for security cameras. A 16mp duo3 and 8mp version of the cx410 would be amazing. I got a duo2 summer of 2023 and a new version will be out sometime this year already. It's got me thinking if I will need a new nvr again to record and see the live view with the duo3 im assuming is 8k 16mp. All nvrs atm works up to 4k

    • @jaturnley
      @jaturnley 4 месяца назад

      The Duo 2 is 2x 2k cameras to get 4k, the Duo 3 looks to be 2x 4k (8mp) cameras. It'll take a firmware update but I am betting it will work with all current NVRs.

    Do Reolink and Tapo/TP-link have a wired camera like the Eufy C24 that you can place in the window to record?

      The One they currently hv RLC-842A is fixed lens. We have to move it manually, how can they dont hv one with motorized ptz function is beyond me.
      I was hoping for Reolink to update the RLC-842A, with motorized ptz, better resolution 12mp/16mp and optical zoom, i guess they dont know what their customers really want.
      What that means? It is dual lenses 8mp + 8mp = 16MP? So its pratically a single 8mp camera on each side right? Glued together?

I'm looking to replace this garbage Google Nest Battery Doorbell V2 since they ruined night vision with a firmware months and months ago and want a battery doorbell cam with color night vision. I have Tapo products so would like to stick with them as long as I don't have to wait all year.

    Great review! Reolink is very underwhelming and you can see they are trying to keep up with Eufy products but they fall short when you compare them to Eufy. They should focus on improving thier POE products. Tappo on the other hand is competing hard and their starlight technology seems the best out there. Starlight was their night vision mode without using infrared leds correct? As always thank you for the entertaining vid, I loved how the Tappo rep said “of course we will be sending you one” for their new video doorbell which looks impressive.

    It's sad to see ring ( the og first product of its kind) go from the king of cameras ,to staying with 1080p resolution and no real updates. 😢
    I feel like when amazon purchased them in 2018 it went all downhill. It makes sense because Bezos valued Ring for its market share, not its technology.

    • @jaturnley
      @jaturnley 4 месяца назад

      Amazon has been losing money on all of their products outside of the Kindle line, so they just aren't providing the funding to keep up with the ever-evolving camera market. Google is the same way with their Nest stuff. They bought up the two leading companies when they saw a trend but didn't see the whole picture and we lost both of them as a result.

    HomeKit HomeKit HomeKit!!! I have all Eufy now, I would give them a B+ in how they operate. But I’d give them a D for what I feel is security when it comes to 100% being sure everything stays in my home. So having Apple run 99% of my home, is absolutely no accident. So my hope is to finally have an affordable home security system that I can pay somebody to monitor when I’m on vacation., but not feel like I’m everything with the ROC. So please, stay on top of the HomeKit options this year!! Thank you and I truly love your channel!!
