Thank you so much for everything Barry. I had a fab weekend. The race, of course, was huge fun, but the rest of my time in Tromso with you was also extremely enjoyable. I am truly so, so grateful that you agreed to guide run for me in this race (no small task), and you looked after me from an accessibility needs perspective with great care and no fuss. As I said in the video - thank you, I literally couldn't have done it without you. Chapeau Barry, and on to the next adventure!

I had such good fun Chris. And it has renewed my longing to run more marathons...started planning for the Dingle Marathon in September already... will also be thinking of another run with you...somewhere with cheaper pints!

BRAVO Chris for your impressive performances!!! It's been fascinating listening to you talk about your adventures and sharing this one with you through Barry!! All the best for your next great adventure!! AND if you're ever up for a marathon here in France, Barry has my email so don't hesitate to contact me!!

@bev9708 thanks Bev. I love France and speak passable French, so I'd love to run a road marathon or half in France. I'm open to any suggestions please 😀

@@Chris_Baily Tell me what time of year suits you Chris and I'll be happy to offer some suggestions!!! One that comes to mind is the flattest marathon in all of France , Marathon Seine-Eure!! It's in October, when this year I shall be running the Boffi Fifty at the Festival des Templiers. Maybe Barry will be happy to accompany you in 2025 for the very famous Marathon de Médoc at Bordeaux, early September, where fancy dress is obligatory and you are expected to indulge in 23 glasses of the famed vintages along route!!😂

@bev9708 any time of year is good for me. I've already got my A race booked for October 2024, so don't want to do anything that would get in the way of that (it's a rare race where I'm doing it purely to try to put down a time).
23 glasses of wine might kill me (😀), but I'd be looking for any race that's interesting or fun rather than just fast. I'll ask Barry for your details so we can take our chat offline if that's OK with you?

What a recap! I just finished it after several sit-downs but it was worth it. Definitely a bucket list marathon to be run just for experience without worry of time. I experienced the midnight daylight in Alaska but not midnight sun. So, that would be something to try. Great collaboration and congratulations to Chris and to you Barry. Achieving the goal and bringing it to a successful finish is always relieving.

"We're running the marathon tomorrow, this is our first ever run!"😂😂 That made me laugh!! We're gonna remember your marathons Barry by what you stop to buy to eat... I laughed out loud at the ice cream!!!! My last Paris marathon I was desperate for a cappuccino, I looked longingly at every single coffee shop we passed, so your Snickers ice cream is no doubt gonna make me so jealous during my next marathon!!😂😂 Huge CONGRATULATIONS to both of you!!!💪🏅🏃‍♂🏃🏅💪 What an experience!! Sooo, what's next Barry?? Hope to see you guiding Chris again one day, you two make a great pair!! Me I've got my Sri Chimney 50k in the Bois de Vincennes on Saturday, but since it's a little loop, we will want for nothing, they really take care of us the whole time!!

Best wishes for the 50k Bev! Maybe I will stop and have a pint during Dingle! Apparently that is a thing...It is in September and the first training is tonight...

@@OldManRunner 😂😂 Maybe you should come do the very famous Marathon du Médoc one year, Barry, at Bordeaux, where you are expected to indulge in 23 glasses of the famed vintages along route!!😂 The Marathon Grands Crus at Dijon and the Marathon du Cognac at Jarnac both offer tastings according to the local produce at each aid station😂

@@bev9708 I should try that one (Marathon du Médoc ) some day as it presents a special challenge beyond the marathon. I am not sure if I could run with 23 glasses of wine in the system. I would be hard for me to keep it straight but who knows. With so much alcohol it might have a turbo effect if one survives the dehydration.

Congratulations to you both on fantastic race and video. I'm so glad you had a great experience running with Chris and i agree it really is a different mind set required when guiding. It's not about you, its about making sure Chris is feeling safe. I 100% agree about the finish, it's a relief and a lot of joy to have completed your task. Completing my marathon with Chris is something i remember a lot more than many of my solo marathons. Yes' i've made mistakes running with Chris...take eye off the ball and then of course thats when the pot hole appears but he is still talking to me.

👏 Very well done the both of you. I saw this on Strava .. but waited for you to post until I put keys to board , I can't really come up with a superlative to match what you two did ( A challange for each of your own reasons) . The key element is you have appaired to have enjoy the event .. and at the end of the day that is what it is all about .
