Thanks Alan. Thought you might have run it. Think the views are mainly in the first half, but am really looking forward to it. Driving down in a few hours and hopefully around the course to film tonight.
With the right weather Dingle looks like it could be a very beautiful marathon. Good luck, I hope it goes well, I hope the tailwind works for you. Oh, and don't forget the Danish pastries to give you a boost at about 20km 😀 💪
You know me...I searched the internet for them last week...and I could import them, for a huge fee, so then I had something tugging in the back of my mind...and I remembered, IKEA sell them, Gifflar. They are now loaded up and ready!
GO well Barry 🫶 Looks like an epic place so it will be an epic marathon for sure. As usual you have prepared well and left nothing to chance 💪 Your preview reminded me of our GOR (Great Ocean Road) running festival. When you do make it to Australia again, you have to run that too 🫶 Weather wise, my trifecta is rain, heat and wind ... in that order. The most difficult run I ever tackled was the GOR half in 2023, the headwind broke me mentally within the first 3K. Expect the worst possible weather conditions and you will be pleasantly surprised on the day - has been my motto since 😂
I imagine we could get 4 seasons in one day. Plenty of grit will get me home. Quite excited about this one...so excited that by mistake, I released the video 24 hours early! No harm done...the likely good weather should make for an interesting filming of the course.
@@OldManRunner Cola is with caffeine, keep that in mind. Taste isn't that important though with tailwings for anything under 3 to 4 hrs. I've done all my long events on tailwind (6 to 14hrs), one time I went Maurten, that was mistake.
I bought two big bags of Cola, which I will likely use in training, the caffeine would be too much on a longer run. I ran really well on Maurten, its just the flavour and texture got to me in the end. Thanks for the heads up on the flavourless Tailwind...will definitely try it
@@OldManRunner the runnig on maurten isnt the problem ;-) not being able to swallow it anymore hurts performance a lot. I've done 14hr events on tailwind no taste alone. Works. Just need to do a lot of work to get the amount dialed in. if you can get over 75gram an hour then you're prob golden. I don't get much higher than 65 to72
Btw Barry, Chris and I have been communicating and we’ve settled on 2 races together next year in France … IF you wanna join us it would be awesome!!! We’re gonna do the Sri Chinmoy 50k in Paris (Bois de Vincennes) at the end of June AND the very famous Marathon du Médoc beginning of September !!! It’s the marathon with the most ambiance in all of France, for one because costumes are obligatory AS is consuming 23 glasses of wine along the way!!😂😂 ( we’re gonna skip that particular requirement !!). R u interested???
Another great video! Always enjoy hearing your journey!
Thanks Andrew!
Good luck Barry, I've done the half in 2022, the views are amazing. Looking forward to your review video!

@@OldManRunner you're right, I only just realised it's Wednesday, not Thursday 😂
Maybe it’s an omen and I will finish the marathon ahead of schedule…
@@OldManRunner that's worth posting early for!
If you wake up on Friday and suddenly and regretfully realise that it's not the weekend, you can blame me...
Use the unflavored Tailwinf for long distances.
Must give it a try...I have rather a lot of Cola flavour to get through first...!
