What an experience! Great job! Yes, definitely some marathons are just for the experience. No need to worry about time in marathons like this. I see you had fun. Driving parts reminded me of my driving around in South Africa last year. Many times I wanted to give turn signal, I activated the wipers. Worse, when I came back to US, I did the same for a day or two re-adjusting back to driving on the right.
Yes, this was a great experience. I look back at the footage and think, was I really there, definitely a marathon I would like to run again some time...
@@OldManRunner "was I really there" Marathon is hard, even when run for experience. I totally understand you. I have no recollection of some sections of my last marathon. Clearly, I was concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other. At least you have footage to go by
You negotiated a referral code for the 2025 race, right? Every viewer will most definitely register after seeing your epic review! Well done (for the review and the race) !!! 👏
Thanks for the kind comments! I have signed up for three marathons already in 2025, and have another in mind so I might not get to Dingle. I really would love to do it again though.
@@bartekzielinski1645 2025 I’m hoping to do Tokyo and London… in the anticipation of Sydney for 2026 for the seven stars… not sure my plan will work though! Time will tell!
@@OldManRunner A few years ago, Ireland would recruit 20 something's from Prince Edward Island to be tour guides in Ireland. They said the Yanks couldn't tell the difference. ;-)
I watched the Republic of Doyle a few times which is set in St. John's. The accents are really strange. Like as if they are from a part of Ireland I can't quite identify. And then there is the fact that the leading actor is Irish...who seems to be imitating the Newfoundland accent....
Enjoyable video as always Barry, the pedestrians are half marathon people, you get dumped outside the town by the buses, can I ask how long do you get out of the head cam?
@@al_conroy Cheers Alan. The Head Cam is a DJI Action 2. Which has an internal battery and then a second battery module. Each will give me about 20 minutes. The second battery module sends power to the camera and attaches by a magnet. I kept charging that up with a power bank. Then when not filming took the head cam off and charged it via the second module. Heavy and convoluted but worth it. You can tell which is which because I’m not bobbing around so much…
Beautiful scenery. And I loved the "Sugar coated threat" 😂😂😂
Thought you might! I threw in a really bad pun at the half marathon finish...might have to explain it when I see you!
What a stunning course! Beautifully filmed, congratulations.
Cheers Richard!
Enjoyed this vid, Barry! What a gorgeous marathon. One for the bucket list for sure. This is what running is all about!
@@NeillyVille Glad you enjoyed it! Going to try and do all the races along the Wild Atlantic Way at some stage…

This might be your best post race review film yet, Barry. Superb!
Glad you got to race it with your running buddy Liam. Best way to run anything.
Thanks Bartek! I really enjoyed everything about making it, the running the filming, and doing it with Liam was the icing on a very large cake...
And one day I hope you get a chance to do the Great Ocean Road mara for comparison 🫶

Great review of a great day. Congrats on running the marathon.
Thanks!
Great video. Enjoyed every bit of it !!!
Cheers Alex! Am well into preparations for the next one...
First view! 👍🤩
Great video Barry, it's mad seeing the back of your own head!
Ah sure it's a fine head...not big and boggy as mine has been described by my former boss!
Gorgeous. Looks a lot like Prince Edward Island, Canada.
I guess they were sort of all joined up a long time ago and have been battered by the sea since...which creates stunning landscapes

Haha ''shite music ahead' love it. One for the list .. not one for pushing, but one to appriciate the run itself.
That's exactly it John!

Thanks for putting together an excellent video 👍
Finishing with some shite music.
Cheers Alan! I thought of you on the run as I had some idea you wanted to do the half. That's when I remembered it sells out fast.
@@OldManRunner yes,I would love to,with that scenery I would do marathon...if I could get sub 6hrs🤣
