- Hello,
Today, we are off to Devils Bridge in Cumbria on Scorpio, my Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, prior to going to Barbon and Sedburgh (next video).
A chap coming off the motorway slip, almost took me out, but fortunately managed to stamp on the brakes in time.......he did worry me for a minute there though ! (off camera, I could see him accelerating, before hitting the brakes).
Whilst at Devils Bridge, I had a nice chat with a subscriber, called Darren. He recognised my voice, and watches my vids. It's always quite humbling when this happens. Thanks Darren.

I have ridden a Ducati Scrambler 400 and what I remember is that it had a very jerky on/off throttle and also the engine generated a huge amount of heat, which was the last thing I needed in hot and slow Bangkok traffic. Keep up the good work!

One of my favourite stops for a sausage barm and a cup of tea. Bit of a run from West Lancashire but the roads leading up to it are well worth it. Usually visit during the week because as you know Saturday and especially Sunday can be chaotic.
Thanks Ian, I don’t normally do weekends either, but it’s more a case of getting out when the weather is favourable at the moment, and putting up with the traffic. 🙄😂
@@ianhughesroyalenfield definitely don't stop there at weekends but weekdays are fine and the roads are more ro my liking being less busy.
Good run Ian he certainly was trying hard to stay ahead so it had to be done 😉 Scorpio is goin well .Have to say I tend to ride with my foot under the gear shift too which I guess is a bad habit 😁👌👍

Great ride Ian; smart overtake on that Disco. Getting stuck behind cagers is a given on our over populated little island; it is what it is.
Ducati’s are not my cup of tea either; they tend to be way overpriced as is their dealer service charges; shame really. A motorcycle manufacturer and their dealers will charge what people are willing to pay.
Luv Devils Bridge; awesome chuck wagon. I used to like watching folk jump off of the bridge, seen it a few times back in the day.

Nice ride out Ian and not to many miles until the fun begins Then the real enjoyment begins. Regarding the Ceat tyres i have no problem what so ever in the wet condtions we have in Wales on my 350 Hunter. Ok is a smaller bike but results are good. Ride safe until the next time. ps. Morning Ian, nice wee ride out, must admit I agree with you on the tyres, I have been quite surprised with the Ceat tyres for the power output of the bike’s they are fine, very predictable, no nasty surprises even in the wet and appear to be long lasting can’t really ask for anything else out of a tyre at that price, hope you’re having better weather than up here and can enjoy putting more miles on your new bike, all the best buddy 👍
Thanks Mike. Weather here is horrendous today. We were supposed to be going down to The Cotswolds this morning, with Zebedee, taking Scorpio in the van, but no way I am driving in this lot 🤬. Tomorrow looking much better.

What isn’t seen in shot, is that he slowed down coming up the slip, before speeding up again, then swiftly coming to a stop….just 😳🙄 The next one is up Barbondale, so more scenic. 😎 Will be out on Monday ! This one has been released a day early as we are going away tomorrow for a couple (ish) of weeks. Taking Scorpio with us of course 😉
Hi Ian, enjoyed your ride out as usual, i did notice the dash on the Guerrilla that i had a tedt ride on, had a white background it seemed quite clear to see, but it wasn't a bright sunny day, look forward to your next video on scorpio 👍
Thanks Malcolm. Yes, I have put it back to white, I can see the indicators clearly. The frame rate mismatch between the TFT and camera will just have to annoy me 🫣😂. As for the glare from the sun, hopefully the anti glare film from speedo angels will work, when I eventually fit it 🙄😂

Morning Mel. Only a couple of days ago, there was an accident on the other (Northbound) slip road junction, someone just came straight out…..closed the slip road for hours. What doesn’t help, is that the highways people don’t cut the foliage down, so people coming up the slip can see if anything is coming. Not an excuse for not slowing down on the approach though, arse 🤬 Yes, definitely the Guerrilla any day 😎
@@ianhughesroyalenfield highways agency and police are more Interested in spending money putting up ULEZ equipment than fixing potholes and clearing dangerously restricted view points at junctions and roundabouts, 🤔🤷♂️

Hello Ian. Another good video and it looks like you are enjoying the Guerrilla. I ordered my Guerrilla a few days ago. I put the Scram 411 on market place, but unfortunately got very little response. Therefore I decided to trade it in and as a consequence didn't order it from Crewe sadly. Due to the colour I chose, there's going to be a few weeks delay, before i get it!

Thanks Chris. Off down to the Cotswolds today, (then Barmouth, then Nantwich) , with Scorpio and Zebedee, so more miles will be done, with the service being booked in for a week on Friday 😎

Hi Ian or should I say, Daddy Cool? I saw you strutting around in that little black denim number, the other day ........ suits you sir! 😁 Just so you know it's not personal, we've got our fair share of numpty car drivers down here in Somerset too, I can only imagine most of them have had their brains removed. By the way, I made a little mod to my throttle twist grip so it doesn't react to the slightest bump in the road. Just been out for an hour, on mine, to see how it feels and it's a thumbs up 👍 Will have a longer ride later this week and see how it feels then. Also, just fuelled up to the brim and done a manual mpg check ....... about 83 mpg but the dash readout, linked to 'Trip 1', is saying 95 mpg ...... 83 mpg is ok though 😊 Still enjoying your Guerrilla videos and the ones with 'Clementine' too, of course 😉 Cheers, Phil (Somerset)
Thanks Phil. Daddy Cool, made us laugh 😂. If you scroll through the comments to Jonathan’s, he mentions that with over 1000 miles on the clock, everything changes, so hopefully you won’t need your mod in the future. I love the Guerrilla, it really talks to me (all be it naughty talk 🫣, like wind me up you Jessie 😂). I have never really bothered about mpg but it is interesting to know. As for drivers, we just have to expect them to do, what we don’t want them to do 🤔😂. Keep sharing knowledge, it’s the way forward 👍 Take care

'Daddy Cool' or 'Jessie'?? 😁 I'm not far off 1200 miles now and TBH Ian, the bike feels just the same, to me, as day 1 ....... brilliant!! 👍 What has changed though is me getting used to the bike, making subconscious adjustments in my riding technique to work best with the machine which, in itself, seems to improve the feel of the bike. By the way, regarding the Ducatti Scrambler thing, of course it's not as good as the Guerrilla ........ it's not a single!!! I rest my case (or top box) ☺

Hiya Ian, I think it's fair to say you don't like Ducatis then!!🤣🤣🤔 - me neither! Thanks for the tip about the Speedo shield, can you tell me where you ordered it from again, didn't quite catch the name?🤔 Mine's now up to 1300 miles and I must say that hitting the 1000 mile mark has changed the bike again. It's much smoother in low speed traffic and less jerky on the throttle, I can only assume that any initial tightness particularly on the Piston has now ironed itself out and the difference is certainly noticeable, running like a dream otherwise. Keep up the good work mate, always enjoy your Vlogs.🙂👍
Thanks Jonathan. I bought the one for the Himalayan 450 (pretty sure they are the same) off the Speedo Angels website. You get two, plus a kit to squeeze the bubbles out. Had mine a while now, but not fitted it, as the weather hasn’t been right, and when there has been a glimmer of dryness, I have been out on one of the bikes 😂. I think all the RE’s mature nicely with miles. They do feel slightly lumpy when new, but so looking forward to getting the first service done….hopefully a week on Friday. Still need to get just over 100 miles covered. Thanks for the compliment, all the best. Oh, and thanks for the updates, great to exchange knowledge 👍

@@ianhughesroyalenfield No, the next service is due at 6,000 miles. May do an oil change Midway at 3,000.🤔
@jonathandeeley6276 ahh, so you only have to keep the revs down to 6k until 1200 miles then…?
@@ianhughesroyalenfield Yep, that extra couple of thousand rpm makes a big difference, just like riding a fully run in engine. At 70mph it's only pulling 5,000 rpm so it's well within the limit for the second part of the running in process. Forgot to say, I've got a rack on order from India. My mate's bought one for his Guerilla and it looks the Mutts Nuts, powder coated and nice welds. Toying with the clock shroud that RE do for the Guerilla and maybe a set of small engine bars.🤔🙂👍
Hi Ian. i have not seen a Guerrilla in the flesh yet, Jim has some in but not in the colour i would choose, i like the one you have or the yellow. What is involved on the first service is it just an oil change or do the valves have to be set as well.

Hi Baz, you are not alone, no one at Devils Bridge had seen one either, plenty of peeps coming for a chat, on this, and after I returned from the next video (if that makes sense 🤔😂). I also sat on it and it suited me perfectly, my only gripe was the foot pegs than kept hitting my calves when putting my foot to the ground but that's something you can learn to avoid. I just wanted to go full old school with a classic 350 and that thing ruined my planning. Got me thinking
@WeeFreeMan78 😂. I mention the footpegs in my walk around video. Yes, when you are kitted up, and on the bike, you find a natural position you are comfortable with. I fully understand your dilemma……I couldn’t let my Classic 350 go, so ended up having a nice chat with the bank to get the Guerrilla 😳😂 Now have the best of both worlds 😎 Cheers

Good afternoon Chris, yes I too was tempted by the analogue speedo. Originally, it was suggested that the Playa Black could be ordered with either speedo’s, but RE changed that idea, as it would be too complicated 🤔. Definitely a sweet engine, and sweet handling motorcycle. @chrismurrell6375 both good bikes, obviously the Guerrilla is more “spirited”. If you haven’t already done so, have a look at Keis heated gear. Easy to hardwire onto the Guerrilla. I just have a thin long sleeve top, the Keis Jacket, and the outer jacket, toasty 🤗

I wouldn’t even consider a Ducati Scrambler, over-priced and for posers only! I did replace the CEAT tyres on my Classic 350, but only because a pothole took a chunk out of the rear! They gripped well in all conditions but I did find they gave quite a hard ride.
With expensive servicing costs.
I mentioned in another video that RE could remove the tft indicator lights and have the speed reading flashing when an indicator is on 😮
I have to report that they are more visible with the white background.
