Hi guys, thanks for stopping by, I've done a CA (SA) video here ruclips.net/video/XH10yQ3HAwo/видео.htmlsi=mCnwhpdNH43veEd2
And on Weds, it will be focused on finance managers.
I'm a Chartered Accountant and I understand the confusion that exists regarding salaries. Keen to explain it but it will be very long. In summary, The first person's salary is correct. In fact, they earn more than I did when I started. However, in articles, salaries increase every 6 months and after professional exams are passed (So about 8 increases in articles typically about 10% increases for the 6 and about 15% -20% for the big exams that are passed). When you become a CA, depending on your negotiations and how you networked in articles, it is very common for it to double. I've been a CA for 4 years now and I've doubled my salary again from when I became a CA. In my circle of CA friends there are those who've done better than me. They have doubled their salaries in less time and they get bonuses that are multiples of their annual CTCs. It all depends on candidate and how they take advantage of the opportunities in front of them.
Hi,thanks for the explanation, I think CA s earn well, I've done a video focusing on them only, but on Weds, it will be finance managers who are earning well as well. The confusion is the word " Bcom," and we automatically think Accountant, but what type of Accountant and areas of expertise cos this is very broad.
I disagree with this. Yes, the increases are there as each milestone is achieved but thats what I earned in 2009! that is unacceptable.
@@liferesetwithboni that’s fair. I sympathise because you are correct. Your last sentence is right Bcom is very broad and Accounting is also very broad. I would like to further reiterate accounting (ie finance managers) is but one place and probably the safer career paths CAs choose to work. However we are trained in many disciplines and maybe it will be worth getting payslips for CAs in M&A or corporate and investment banking(if you can obviously). I specialise in Data analytics which is a new career that didn’t exist 10 years ago. Careers that are less safe are compensated more for the risk.
Boni is not lying and I like her transparency. However, people should know that there is a lot of Accounting : Fiinancial Accounting, BAcc, Management Accounrting and Financial Accounting(General), and above all there is too much supply with these Accounting degrees , and to earn high you should be vastly different. Hence I route for BAcc(CA degree), Honours in Accounting but PGdip if it happens that you do not make honours, and CA(SA) but along the way to that route make sure you learn a lot of things outside school books that will differentiate you from your competitors. But bear in mind this doesn't constitute any advice please do your own research
Absolutely, and part 2 will show the other side !
Yoh that Compliance auditor, went through the pain of doing not just basic auditing but applied auditing (which all Accounting student me included know Auditing is a legit motherfluffer) to later only make 20k😭😭💔💔💔🙃 thats bad, and we as accounting students are legit fighting for our lives with these modules
Sars for you, i left that organization 6 years ago for same reasons
All sars salaries that I've seen are like this. It's shocking
Stats is not playing with yall!.

😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Yoh hectic! Imagine an accountant with 16 years experience earning as much as an engineering graduate with 2 years experience after varsity 😅 no ways! There's something wrong with that.
Unfortunately when you're desparate for a job you can't get picky, and that's sad. Companies are really benefitting from desparate people in this country
Askies
These are the degrees that get you though the door, the rest is up to you once you're in
Absolutely

@@liferesetwithboni Please can you do a video of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) holders
Absolutely!
Thank you! :)
The thing about accounting and finance is that there are different degrees, roles & industries. That’s why the salary range is quite different and vast.
Yes definitely, on weds we will see another side.

It's true that to earn well in the Accounting field, you need to specialize. Whether it's with SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, etc. I have an accounting degree that hasn't done much for me. I eventually moved to IT and my certificate, lower than my degree and lower than a diploma even, has gotten me a job in IT that paid me more than my previous permanent job at an internship level. The pay has since more than doubled at the grad stage and is expected to increase some more once I specialize in a few years. My degree did, however, get 1 foot in the door for me coz this opportunity I got requires 1 to have a degree as a minimum regardless of what field the degree is in. So I'm grateful for that part.
Awesome
Hi Thuli, can you please share more how you ventured into IT?
I wouldn't say accountants are mathematically gifted😂, they don't do pure mathematics in varsity, Actuaries are😎
Lol,they do
@@AmukelaniKoffie-il7cw computational maths🤔
Stats is not pure Maths? Just asking 😄
Tax needs math bruh
@@liferesetwithboni They do Business statistics not Mathematical Statistics 😄
I once saw an Accountant vacancy SAICA articles were part of their requirements and the salary was 18K-25K i almost went to see an optometrist to see if my eyes didn't have a problem 😭😭🙌
Lol
Most trainees earn that much, it's no train smash
They know people are desperate and will still apply. We are letting these companies do these to us by agreeing to these conditions

Yohh these are peanuts shem😥. If part 2 goes like this then im changing careers
Hang in there😂
and auditing is legit showing flames not including tax and Management accounting to only make 17k💀💀💔💔💔joh its bad shem
No part 2 is promising, start with the bad and move to better.
Tell them, it's not bad.

Hi. SAIPA (South African Institute of Professional Accountants) also requires you to do articles. Usually, the degree as a pre-requisite is SAIPA accredited degree such as a Bcomm Financial Accounting, BTech/(Diploma - with the aim to complete a NQF level 7) in Accounting, etc.
Okay

@@liferesetwithboni thank you Bonnie :). Love your content
Accounting qualification is basically a waste of time
No, it's not. It's vast, you need to be strategic and study further. I think I should have someone who can guide us on different paths.
Here is a CA (SA) video that I published last year.ruclips.net/video/XH10yQ3HAwo/видео.htmlsi=mCnwhpdNH43veEd2
If you dont know how to use your degree and research about your career any qualification will be useless.
@@liferesetwithboniI sent you an email boni I hope you saw it.
My brother has BCom degree and Honours. He is in the IT part of this industry and earns very very well.
Nice 😘
What does your brother do exactly?

You can start articles immediately after matric ( if you find a firm) then you study while doing them
I also did Articles with just Matric
How was it?
I was not aware.
@@liferesetwithboni they were tough in the first year because I was fresh from high school however, it got better with time and studying (nb! I didn't say easy)
I left my Retail Job earning R16k average and around R28k festive season to do Bcom Finance degree , was it a good choice ?
Yes
The low salaries are mostly from people who don't have a degrees though😢.
Okay
Hey I've been watching your videos for awhile now. Can do CIPS salaries. I'm getting my certification. Please cover how much MCIPS holders earn in RSA
What is CIPS?
Chattered institute for procurement and supply
Currently doing my first year in bcom accounting 😢 and after seeing this im going change next year😢
Watch part 2
One thing most people fail to understand is that you do finance or accounting because you're passionate about it/them. Otherwise, you'll struggle. Money is in tech. Speaking from experience.
Do people do finance cos they are passionate about it? 😊
@liferesetwithboni I don't know. Let elaborate for you - you do finance or accounting when you are passionate about it and not when you are looking to make money. Otherwise, you'll struggle because there's no money in those fields. You'll earn R12k as an intern, R24k or so in two years, and then it stops or marginally increases around +R30k unless you job hop.
I know people with 5 years of experience as CAs, yet they are still earning around R50k.
You'll hardly find a CA with R100k+ CTC unless they are exceptionally good.
I agree with you. I'm also speaking from my own experience.
Boni can you please share a payslip of a networking technician And engineer. ❤
I don't have one for now, but I'll keep looking.
Can you please do HR workers please.
I've done it , use search bar. HR Salaries in South Africa. I will pop.up.
The basic in the last payslip is not make sure
😄
Yhoooo SARS yaybaxa
Yes
Just pursue engineering...
Only few earn well in SA. Engineering professionals are undervalued in SA, best plan would be for all skilled people to leave the country and allow the power to shift back to the employees
