Thanks Sis Boni, I have been waiting for this segment of software engineering earnings, as Iam currently self-learning and planning to go through a bootcamp, these rings close to home. Keep it up Sistas and your much appreciated, thank you!
I work in the tech space and contract work is fairly common. Although you are usually hired by an external company to work for another company. So in most cases you aren't an independent contractor. People getting fired or let go in space is very common as performance is extremely important. The salaries are good but the stress can be high sometimes. The great thing is, its extremely easy to find work once you have a few years experience, as companies struggle to find reliable experience developers and are willing to pay a premium when they do find one.
One thing i can tell you about this, is not true reflection of the real world, in computing world there is no average salary, very brutal same as what is happening in law firms. Salaries varies way too much! U need an element of luck as well.

Non white people in tech get paid very well, and women in tech get paid more than men at junior level positions. These big companies WANT to hire blacks and women because they get BEE points for it so the demand is very high trust me 👍🏻
That has nothing to do with the color of the person(especially in SA with BEE/BBBEE), it's company policies as to not start insubordination amongst ranks, if for example you knew you got paid less for whatever reason by 30k than the person next to you in the same position doing the same work you would turn sour towards the company. Salaries is not just based on years of experience and total qualifications, it's also how good you are at negotiations and how much value you bring, maybe learn to negotiate better rather than claiming racism as this is intellectual laziness. At the end of the day YOU don't own the company, if you don't like what you are being paid compared to others then leave, as you have a choice then go start your own company rather than complain. This is why I don't work for SA companies as too many SA people especially black have this mind virus claiming if something seems not fair it MUST be racism, maybe you are just not as qualified or good at negotiations or bring as much value to the company as the other person, get over it and better yourself or start your own company, but you won't do this as it would require work, which by knowing your mindset is what you are not fond of.

The reason they do contracts is one of these, they dont worry about benefits and things (which for perms includes certain bonus structures and company events that would be expensive); this also gives the employees the perception of earning a lot of money, but in reality to get the same insurance covers that perms get it brings down the salary significantly, but psychologically you feel it is your choice to earn less rather than it being an employers decision. there's a performance factor, its easy to find people who are not great at it so its easier to end the contract than to fire - they dont have to spend money training you first before they can fire you. but ke the demand is very high, so it being a contract normally doesn't leave anyone feeling threatened

Good tech companies believe in training because the devil you know is better than the one you don't know Good tech companies know that technology is all about keeping up to date Type of employment ie temp or permanent is an accounting decision based on different assumptions and thus varies from organization to organization The tech industry is also vast and the motivation factors varies For example communication is extremely demanding and places great emphasis on quick learners who can keep up to date with ever changing tech environment or emerging technology Public sector technology environment is more stable and may only place emphasis on more routine task or daily maintenance of existing equipment It is true to say that in this type of environment it is just like any other as with any other routine task

@@akhananimgwebi748I recommend you start with help desk support roles, you typically need a qualification equivalent to NQF Level 2. However, I recommend pursuing a System Support course. Many of these courses only require a Grade 10-12 education. Once you obtain a credited course such as Technical Support NQF/System Support NQF 5, you can apply for IT support roles. Additionally, consider completing the CompTIA A+ certification on Coursera. Most System Support and Technical Support NQF Certifications and Learnerships require a Grade 10-12 education to join. After gaining the necessary certifications, apply for tech support jobs to build your skills. As you gain experience, focus on obtaining Cisco certifications to further advance your career. As you grow with Skills especially in Network Support roles you can then enter cybersecurity

Seeing some of the Payment of people with Degrees and i can see they are almost on par with most Artisans in mining industry.... ya neh. Hectic
Yes they are !
Good tech companies believe in training because the devil you know is better than the one you don't know
Good tech companies know that technology is all about keeping up to date
Type of employment ie temp or permanent is an accounting decision based on different assumptions and thus varies from organization to organization
The tech industry is also vast and the motivation factors varies
For example communication is extremely demanding and places great emphasis on quick learners who can keep up to date with ever changing tech environment or emerging technology
Public sector technology environment is more stable and may only place emphasis on more routine task or daily maintenance of existing equipment
It is true to say that in this type of environment it is just like any other as with any other routine task
Thank you!

Can you explain 13:13 how to not pay excess taxes as an independent contractor?
You pay less tax as a business cos you can claim a lot of things company to PAYE. I'm not an expert, but that's how my accountants explained it to but However, I'm told it's hard to get a job as an independent contractor compared to being employed .
Hello sisi, can you please assist l want to study data scientist so which requirements must I have and where can I study I live in Cape town...
Watch this video but there are many online platforms but this video can give you ideas. ruclips.net/video/k0kWZcwzTIY/видео.html
Most likely you would want to get a Bcom in statistics and finance or a Bsc in computer science and maths, then a master's degree in data science. You can do these courses at UWC, CPUT, or UCT but all of them are difficult to get into
Try Maharishi institute
Boni these videos are great and all, but when are we getting one on a Quantity surveyor's salary??
Yes, you will. The problem is I got it straight after I've published the Built Environment salaries, so I'm waiting for other related salaries in order to record a video. I do have QS, Town Planning, Architecture, Civil engineer consult, so I just need 2 more and I'll create a video.

Artisans got benefits for days , they got housing allowances , petrol allowance, medical aids …wena you are shaken by people who dont even have provident fund😂 when artisans resign or retire they get good money shame … working contracts is a scam you die today your kids become poor manje manje
@@ScissorN thats if you have not been planning for the future. The benifits of tech is that you jump from one company to the other and your salary grows rapidly. You really shouldn't stay in one company for more than 2 years in the tech space unless you have stock options or in management/ executive positions.
This video has inspired me to go back and study.
it is possible
👌👌👌👌
I'm turning 35 this year will complete my degree by 37 hope will still be eligible for employment by then. Doing BSc IT
@@arokamurombe3063all the best
At my previous company, there was a 38 year old Zimbabwean cleaner working for the building that we rented. He used to ask people in my office about their job and what they do, eventually he managed to get an internship at our company doing devops, and now he is 41 earning big bucks as a devops engineer for a big local company. He was the most hard working and passionate man I ever met, he did it for his son who now lives in Cape Town with him
An interview Sis.

Hello Boni. Is there any need of grade12 when you have cyber security?
Yes
Okay I thought companies can employ someone even if he/she has no matric
@akhananimgwebi748 let me say I don't know hey, I haven't seen it. All jobs I see require matric.
Hey sisi Boni, I was trying to inbox you on tiktok but I can’t. I would love to ask if you have any feedback on Zaoi coding booth camp. I see your were in partnership with them earlier on the year.
I would love to join their booth camp but I have somethings that are kinda making me sceptical, they don’t have much information about them in their website
Send a Whatsapp message to get more information, but there is another boot camp coming up soon. We're meeting later today about it..
