I've always loved how Sabbath's first four albums were recorded. The first three in particular used little compression so you got the raw feel of the band shining through. The first album was actually recorded live in the studio but Paranoid still has that live feel also. Because of its length Vol. 4 had to have some compression to get everything on one album. Great work Andy.
Paranoid is a bad ass song! Drummed for many years, and that song takes me to my roots of playing!!!!!!!
This is by far the best drum cover I have seen of this song on RUclips. I love the way it has the chart flowing through it along with the video. I’m gonna start working this one up. I remember when this song came out when I was a young teenager. It blew us all away. I would like to be able to claim that it inspired me to play drums, but I was already playing drums long before that! This is one of the few songs from that era I never sat down and worked out. I played with it a couple of times, but found it difficult. This video explains everything especially with the notation flowing with the video!👍

I’m a new drummer, but am old enough to have bought that album on vinyl after earning the money mowing the neighbors lawn. That was fun. I want to spend the next week/month/year learning some of those beats and fills.

You must have loved playing along with Black Sabbath. I know, I'm a guitarist and when I play along I feel like I'm playing with the greatest band of all time. Good job. Back in late 70's early 80's this is the drummer i really learned from. Back then all we had was needle to vinyl...over and over and.... Bonham, Paice and Ward were my instructors. NOT in that order.

Nicely done, sir! So now that youve played Bonham and Ward both, perhaps you can settle the argument…. I always hear people say Bonham has more chops than Ward, and I used to believe them. The more I listen to his work though, the more I think Bill Ward is just as good as Bonham. He just does what the music requires. It’s Black Sabbath, not Led Zeppelin. What do you think?

Honestly I'm not sure. I haven't heard a big enough sample size of Ward yet.
But his stream of consciousness and ideas here are next level. More 'difficult' (for me) than the Led Zep songs I've learnt so far.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Someday it would be cool to hear your thoughts on that. Obviously both are phenomenal players, and the two bands are two of the three major players in the origins of British Heavy Metal (along with Deep Purple, and a number of others, incl Jethro Tull), so its like comparing Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth.

Sorry, Bonzo, but Bill's the best rock drummer. For a drummer more than any other, it's what they choose to play, not so much if they can play it. I'm sure Bonzo could play everything Bill could and vice versa, but in a parallel universe with Bill in Zeppelin and Bonzo in Sabbath, Zeppelin would be the band that gained the most. As much as I like Zeppelin, they sound a bit woolly in comparison to Sabbath and that has a lot to do with Bill, he's simply the best drummer. Not to mention, he was a good singer too.
Great drum cover. I have the same drum kit that you are playing. I went from an acoustic kit to an electronic drum kit last year after playing on an acoustic kit for many years. The Rowland TD drum kits are really great and really great quality. I have a question about this kit? Is it possible to program any cymbal on this kit with two different cymbal sounds for example, the crash being a crash and a oriental china? Thanks for your videos and reaction videos as well.
Yes I do believe you can layer sounds. I haven't done it yet though.

I strongly suggest Holy Wars by megadeth. Nick Menza was a phenomenal drummer. Listen to Hammersmith Apollo live.
Nick Menza was one of the greates to ever live. He is my favorite drummer. Holy Wars…The Punishment Due really exemplifies Menzas creative and technical skill. He played with a ton of passion as well. The entire album is great, if not the best(its the best album I have ever heard) but Holy Wars sticks out. Nick Menza was meant to play drums. He is widely regarded as the best megadeth drummer, and his drumming was fairly unique. Once you hear Menza, I promise you will be amazed. Him and Reed Mullin are my all time favorites. I truly think deserves at least a listen. I would greatly appreciate it though if you broke down his drumming techniques. But please. At least listen to him.
